This was our second stay at this property, and unfortunately it will be our last. The most serious issue was discovering extensive visible mold in the basement, including the area intended as the children's bedroom. We immediately stopped using that space and notified the property manager. The photos document the condition. What concerned us most was the response. During our communications, the property manager acknowledged she had previously discussed the mold problem with the owner multiple times, that the underlying issue had not been corrected, and that it would need to be addressed "properly and professionally." That left us with the impression this was not a newly discovered problem. We were traveling from Washington, DC with three young children during peak season, so relocating mid-week was not a realistic option. We avoided the basement for the remainder of the stay. There were also recurring maintenance issues. The refrigerator leaked during our stay last year and again this year. The internet was so unreliable that we brought our own Starlink system to have dependable service. The property manager was courteous and genuinely tried to help, but my concerns are with the owner's maintenance decisions. A 500 refund did not fairly reflect the condition of the property or the loss of use. We love Northern Michigan, but we cannot recommend this home.
