Awesome Kolea condo

This was an awesome ground floor condo—had all the amenities we needed. Sharon was super responsive when we had a water heater issue and it got fixed within a few hours. I would most definitely stay there again!

Beautiful Property

We enjoyed our stay. Great location with a very short walk to either the pool or beach. The place itself was very nice, comfortable and had the amenities needed. Highly recommend.

NOT ENOUGH ALOHA

I’ll start by saying we stayed in this exact unit in December 2019 and had a wonderful experience. The review still appears on VRBO if you scroll down. Our 2021 experience was not as good, largely due to the new owner/manager and the overall condition of the unit. Advice to prospective guests: Read the fine print in your rental agreement very carefully, as there are definitely some unusual terms!! Potential guests should consider the following before booking Kolea 14G: - THERE IS NO LONGER A USABLE CLOSET IN THE MASTER BEDROOM. The owner now uses the large walk-in closet as HERS and it is locked. Thus, your suitcases, shoes, dirty clothes, etc. will need to be out in plain sight. We feel that this is unacceptable and should have been disclosed prominently upfront. - The new owner now locks the thermostat to prevent guests from adjusting it too low. - There is no dresser in the 2nd bedroom. Guests using that room also have to live out of their suitcases. - Carpet is worn and outdated, and needs to be replaced with tile, at least in the entryway (like in other units in the Kolea complex.) - Toilets are extremely low-flow and finicky. You need to hold down the handle for a long time to make sure it flushes. My husband had to fix the toilet on arrival to get it to stop running constantly. - There is a new electronic lock on the front door. We found it difficult to pull up the touch screen. Also, the code we were given inexplicably stopped working midway through our stay. - There is no longer towel service at the pool, so you have to bring your own beach towels (there are only 4 provided by the owner.) Also, many of the pool chairs have been removed by the management, creating a vulture-like environment for the remaining ones.

Love the area not so much the rental.

This review has taken me some time because I wasn’t sure how I wanted to say it. We loved the lay out of the condo and the lanai. We were disappointed that the lighting in the bedrooms was very poor, it was advertised as a two bedroom and the second bedroom could be converted to a king bed. It was but their was no dresser in the second bedroom. Nothing worse than living out of suitcases for a week. The closet floor was so full no where to even put shoes. The dust in both rooms was awful plus no outlets to plug in cellphones and electronics, had to use the kitchen. When we arrived there was a beeping noise every 10 minutes, very annoying and it took 48 hours to get it figured out. There was also blood stains on the comforters in both bedrooms. Carpet was filthy in the entry way. Also ice was jammed in the refrigerator and dishwasher did not close correctly. We loved the gated area but felt the condo could have been better maintained. We would stay in this area again but look for a different one. We paid good money and felt like it took time away from our trip to get issues taken care of.

Great stay at Waikaloa!

Great condo. Very close to the beach club as well as the beach. Kids loved the pool! Condo has an outdoor lanai with a nice grill and is a great place to enjoy dinner or breakfast. Highly recommended!

Perfect family getaway

This was perfect for us! A family of 4 - lots of space. Love the ground floor location - so easy to zip to the hot tub whenever we wanted. Fully loaded with beach chairs and boogie boards, great communication with owner and local property manager... all great! thumbs up!

It is on the ground floor and has large, sliding glass doors that open up to a beautiful lanai and grassy area. It is ideal for families with young kids! Quality of the interior is outstanding. The entire grounds of Kolea are wonderfully landscaped. We are definitely going back!

AMAZING STAY!

We have stayed at various hotels and condo's throughout the Big Island and Kolea is by far the best and we will be making this our place to stay from now on. You can not beat the location as it is so close to Abay, Lava Lava Beach Club, Kings and Queens shop etc. We also absolutely LOVED the pool/jacuzzi area that was so well maintained, peaceful and provided an excellent view of the beach. There is a fresh water shower and gate that leads to and from the beach which we loved as well. The condo itself was well equipped with everything we needed, clean and comfortable. Carole was a great host and we appreciated the communication before our arrival and during our stay. We will be back next year and can't wait! Mahalo for the relaxing and enjoyable stay!

And they are beautifully maintained and it is truly paradise. This is our second time staying in this condo complex and we will be back. Travelled with my husband and three kids (6, 4 & 1) and condo set up was perfect, has everything you need to enjoy your stay.

Excellent Condo!

We had a great time in Hawaii and the condo was perfect. Nice size for our family of 4 and everyone had enough space. Great location walking distance to the pool and beach. Close to shops and Lava Lava for a drink on the beach. Well furnished kitchen and grill for meals at home and enjoying the lanai. Extras like the beach towels, chairs, fins, boogie board helped make the property special. Carole and Chelsea were exceptional hosts and we would definitely look to them the next time we come to Hawaii.

Delightful Stay in Waikoloa - Kolea 14G

Reviewer Comments: We recently stayed at this lovely villa (Kolea 14G) for five nights; and enjoyed the clean and comfortable furnishings, convenient location, and great access to pool and beach!. The lanai with outside cooking facilities was a treat to use and made a great spot to enjoy morning coffee and our evening meals. Restaurants were nearby (some within walking distance) to round out dining options. We were happy to see that there were beach chairs, towels, and umbrella provided for our exploration of the many beautiful beaches that were a short drive away, including Hapuna; but the best part of the stay was having that short walk to a first-class beautiful beach; and access to the shore walking trails along A-Bay! Delightful! The property description and photos were accurate, and the rental manager was very helpful and provided prompt and courteous customer service! We had no problems during our stay with any of the facilities, and the location was excellent. Definitely would recommend this location to families or couples; and would love to revisit if the opportunity presents itself!

We fell in love with Kolea the first time we visited the Big Island in 2010. When we came back with our family in 2020 we decided it was a good time to invest in that as part of our retirement goals with the hopes one day we will retire on the island. The Big Island is our favorite island in Hawaii and my favorite place in the world. There is no place I think of more. When I come to Kolea I feel a peace and calm of mind not felt anywhere else. The beach club is unique in the views it offers of the ancient fishponds and beach. It has private path access to the beach. My favorite walk is just a right turn after the end of the path. Kolea is the central gem of Waikoloa and walking distance to all the best shops and restaurants. Due to its location and amenities it's the high-end luxury stand out from the 7 other owner condo communities. Our Beach Club has a large infinity pool with beach views, a shallow sandy bottom keiki pool, a large jacuzzi with the best views of A-Bay and plenty of loungers and umbrellas to sit and enjoy the views whether you want to bask in sun or shade. There is a private gate and path that leads directly to the Anaeho'omalu Bay. You can't get closer accommodations to the beach than you can at Kolea. We offer the daily resort pool passes at the Hilton for up to 6 guests which can cost around $600 daily if our guests had to purchase these passes directly with Hilton.
