Peaceful Wayside Cottage in the country 5 miles north of Nashville, IN!

The Wayside Cottage is a charming Cape Cod-style vacation home on five acres. Relaxing is easier than ever with an expansive backyard, a large covered porch, and a wraparound deck. On one level, you'll find the living room, kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms (both with queen-size beds), and one full bathroom. In addition, two twin beds, plenty of play space (toys and games included!), and a gate at the top of the stairs make the loft an excellent place for kids. It takes just 10 minutes to get to the Wayside Cottage from Nashville. It's easy to get here, there, and everywhere. Less than five minutes away are Bill Monroe Music Park and Brown County Dragway; the entertainment options are endless. Want to enjoy a day on the lake? Lake Lemon is less than 10 miles away, so bring your boat over; there is plenty of room to park it at the cottage in the circular drive. While the Wayside Cottage may not have internet, the cell coverage is excellent! Our cabins are located in the beautiful woods and countryside of Brown County, Indiana. While we provide routine professional pest control and keep our homes clean and well-maintained, guests may occasionally see seasonal pests such as mice, flies, lady beetles (Asian beetles), or stink bugs — especially in the fall and spring.

These harmless insects are part of life in a rural setting. We do everything possible to minimize their presence and appreciate your understanding as part of the authentic Brown County experience!

Lovely property and location. Beautiful and well maintained. Our main issue was that we are seniors and the bathtub is very high so a bit challenging to get in and out of. Also the bathroom floor is very slick if you happen to step off of the small floor mat with wet feet. Otherwise, no complaints. Overall lovely place!

It was a great place! Hot tub and grill were awesome. It was truly 5 min aways from Nashville. Host were great too! They replied fast and straight to the point. I would stay here again.

The location of the property is fantastic if you are looking for somewhere quiet to stay. The hot tub looked nice, but the weather in the middle of July was too hot for us to try it out. There was a wasp issue on the porch and around the hot tub that kept us off the porch as well. I did contact management about it and they said they would send someone out, but I don’t know if they did as there were still wasp flying around the same areas on our second day. The furniture in the living room is well used (holes on the arm of the love seat) and the mattress in the back bedroom was not comfortable, so we switched to the front bedroom and that was better. The towels and bedding were nice. The only bathroom had a pedestal sink which made it hard to get ready as there wasn’t a place to set items. It seemed clean overall, but as the house is old it had a funky, musty smell when you walked in the back door.

Mixed Experience

The house itself is very nice, management was very accommodating when I needed to pay a day after the initial due date, and the house has good view of the countryside--there is a huge "Ultra MAGA Country" display of some kind not far down the road, flying a confederate flag, which caused us some discomfort. The neighbor's horse got out and into the front yard of this property as my adult child and their wife were finding locations for photos in their PhD graduation regalia. The horse got quite close to them before being regained. Then the neighbors called the management and said WE were messing with THEIR animals and on THEIR property, which was untrue. The shower was inside a very high bathtub with no grab bars or non-slip material in the tub and felt quite unsafe. The cold water in the shower was only a trickle, making the whole shower unusable. The house gave us a place to sleep and eat, but was not the fun, cozy getaway we were hoping for on our special weekend. We did leave feedback on the form provided in the house regarding these issues and hoped to hear from someone before leaving this rating.

Great spot.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The property is peaceful and quiet. I only have the rental a 4 because a lot of windows were unlocked & it’s unclear if the door code is changed between rentals. Kitchen was well stocked & beds were comfy. (One soft one firm) If the code isn’t reused, I would come back. Great location for brown co.

Not a good stay

When we arrived at the property everything looked great. Beautiful property, then when we pulled around back we noticed there was no privacy from the neighbors next door. The listing doesn't show how close the neighbors are and it needs to. It definitely was an eye sore to look at. Everything inside looked great. The first night we were there, we tried to use the hot tub but it was dirty. Was told it was silt but it definitely was not. Its was dirty and debris. Finally, the next day they sent someone out to look and they cleaned it. As soon as we went in and turned the jets on, dirt came right back out. The back door and kitchen window didnt have any curtains on them, which made the privacy situation feel worse. The doors felt really lose even when they were locked, which didnt make us feel safe. Took a nice hot bath but noticed when i got out, the tub was leaking. So make sure to put a towel around the front of the tub when you shower or take a bath. We had the most fun when we was away from that house. We went for our anniversary weekend and ended up wasting almost a whole day that we paid for because we just said screw it and went home a day early. There was loud music all weekend. My wife wanted to sit outside, relax and read. She wasn't able to do that. The music was all day and night. She didnt like looking all the place next door. It definitely wasnt worth the almost $1,200 I spent. We would of been better off to stay home or went somewhere else.

Great private getaway

about 12 minutes from the Brown County State Park gate. very nice and private with a wonderful hot tub. Every step was very easy. Be warned that a neighbor a few houses to the south flies a lot of racist flags, if that is something that would concern you.

We truly enjoyed all that Nashville had to offer, from the stores, to the wineries and distillery and the food! Not a long drive into town from the cottage.

Interesting trip

The house was okay, definitely some weird vibes. The cable never did work, but the house was cute. I loved the bathtub and hot tub. The swing was not out, which was pretty dissapointing. The location is fine, definitely off the beaten path but 10 mins to the city. Get your groceries and whatever else early, everything closes at 8. We had lots of bad storms, and an incident where someone was shining a flashlight in our windows. We did contact the host, and they got back to us. The doors are really flimsy, like i could see the lock through the side, definitely not safe Clean, cute. Just off and did not feel safe.

Girls Getaway!

We had a great visit! The house was clean and charming. Seemed like everyday the trees grew more beautiful and the little farm next door had a variety of fun critters to watch from afar! Enjoyed our visit to the T C Steele museum, some hiking, shopping, playing cards, watching movies at night and mostly just enjoying our time together in this cozy house.

Girl's Trip!

We had such a great time staying at this cozy cottage! It was so peaceful, and the neighbor's ducks were a huge hit! The short drive to downtown Nashville was so convenient, and whenever we had a question, the host quickly got back to us!

Exactly What I Wanted!

In the words of my 4 year old: “Ahhh, I love this place.” In the words of my 6 year old: “MOM, why didn’t you book this cottage for 2 weeks?!?” We had a lovely 3-night stay at this cottage, and it was everything I wanted! We made s’mores and cooked hot dogs over the fire pit. We ate outside listening to birds, swung on the porch swing, relaxed in the hot tub, and gazed at stars. The house was warm, welcoming, and clean. The loft area was PERFECT for our kids, and they wanted to spend our whole trip in the cottage. Thank you for a great stay!

Will stay again!

Beautiful property, peaceful, quiet and secluded (besides one neighbor). We never heard any noise other than the occasional farm animal, which kept us completely entertained...because we spent 90% of our on the amazing deck. We will definitely recommend the Wayside Cottage! Thank you!
