A 5-minute drive away is the downtown area, located right on the waterfront, featuring a church, a market, small Creole-style houses, medical offices, a soccer stadium, and numerous shops: bars, restaurants, a bakery, convenience stores, a pharmacy, and souvenir shops.
There is a wide variety of recreational activities, including sports and water sports. There are also numerous hiking trails starting from Sainte-Anne, leading to Piton de Crève-Cœur at Cap Chevalier, Anse Michel, and Baie des Anglais.
Sights to see: the Notre Dame Church in the center of town, several historic homes (Val d’Or…), the Calvary just behind the church, the Étang des Salines, and the Savane des Pétrifications (a rare place in the world where you can see dead wood turned to stone).

Transportation
For travel, SudLib connects all the towns in the South to each other, extending to the TCSP station in Carrère (Lamentin). The TCSP runs between Carrère and the city of Fort-de-France.
