The trip got off to a pretty rough start but once we got to the place, it exceeded all our expectations. And the host tried really hard to make up for the rough start. I think the main reason for the rough start is I did not hear from the host in the days leading up to the booking. In previous bookings with VRBO and other vacation home platforms, the host has always texted me at least 24 hours before the booking to say that they were expecting me and that I could expect to receive the check-in codes by x time. This gave me assurance that even as I was enroute, there was indeed a room for me to stay in that night. Understandably, in this day and age, you never know if there is a scam. And traveling to a foreign city, not knowing if there is a place to stay that night, can cause some anxiety. When I did not hear from the host by the day of the actual booking, I texted him in the morning before getting on my flight. When I landed at Whitehorse, I still did not have a reply back from him. This caused some anxiety. Fortunately, when I called him, he did pick up the phone but our relationship did not get off to a good start. Moreover, he advised that the unit we had booked had a plumbing issue and there was no hot water. However, he MORE than made up for it by upgrading us to a better unit. The unit was very clean, the beds are comfortable and the unit is well equipped. This place turned out to be a gift.We want to thank the host for being so gracious and generous.
