Great vacation spot!

Beautiful place and great communication from Richard.

Others have said it, but Richard really is the best communicator I’ve ever run across with VRBO. A great place and a great time was had.

Awesome Time!

We will definitely be back! House was large enough and the set up was accommodating for 6 adults, two 3 year olds and an infant. Richard was always available for any questions and gave great recommendations on things to do.

The house was as expected. Great house and a beautiful view. Very private and quite. How was stocked and clean with plenty of room. Great space, bedrooms and bathrooms. We appreciate you letting us stay there. We'll be back.

Cabin Heaven on The New River

Our Cabin on The New River was absolutely amazing, everything we could have asked for and more! Richard was probably the best host we have ever had, texting information, directions, and just checking in to be sure all was good to go! The kitchen was stocked with appliances, better than any other rental we have ever rented. Thank you for a GREAT week Richard!!! Robby Royal & The Rescue Smokers BBQ Team!

Relaxing Mountain Getaway!

Our trip was amazing. Contact with the owner was the best we've ever had with a rental. Had suggestions tailored specific for our group, including hikes for our toddler boys. Answered any questions we had immediately! The place was clean. Put my mind at ease with being extra careful during Covid. Would love to return during the summer months. Overall, wonderful!

Beautiful retreat

We had a lovely time at Falcons Nest! Although we thought we were lost on the road, we just had to keep driving to discover the beautiful stretch of riverfront property. The house was in great shape and had everything we needed for our stay. The yard in front was perfect for our kids to run around, play ball, splash in puddles and relax. The river is very serene and we were less than an hour from several great hikes. We went to Grayson Highlands state park one day and the blue ridge music center another. There are a few cute restaurants in downtown Galax and lots of antique shops if interested. Great place to get away, relax and have fun.

New River Paradise!

Richard was an amazing host. The house was beautiful and perfect for us. The house was immaculately clean upon arrival and was fully equipped with everything you may need and then some... and the beds were super comfortable! Richard was very helpful on directions and places to go around the area. He really centers his place around his guests being able to relax and enjoy the views! We loved sitting around a bonfire every night and waking up to the beautiful sunsets! I highly recommend Richards place! We hope to be able to visit again! Thanks again Richard for letting us stay at your place, We had the best Thanksgiving with my family! :)

Just wow!

As many others have mentioned the owner has the best communication I have ever experienced as a vacation property renter. He is helpful with things about the house as well as info on local spots to hit while you are in town. You get to feel like you are isolated while being only 10-15 mins from all the stores and restaurants you could want. The house is beautiful and very clean. And the river is literally right there! It’s great for playing in it or sipping coffee on the deck and just admiring it. My family and my brothers family stayed here together with plenty of room for us. If you are on the fence at all… I highly suggest renting this place!

Great Cabin on the Lake!!

From a couple days before we headed to the cabin, till after we left to come home, Richard could not have been a better host. He texted us information about getting in, directions, and things to watch out for along with pictures. He also sent us information about places to visit, local music stops, and what he calls the loop to see deer, a beautiful view and if you're lucky, Sasquatch. The house was beautiful, the beds were so comfortable, the kitchen is spacious; we couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The water is clear and there are people splashing in the water all over. The hammock chair and hammock were very relaxing. Can't wait to come back some day. As a host, Richard goes above and beyond what you could ever need.

Hidden Gem

We were looking to stay in the mountains near water and found this listing. The rooms were perfect as we have 4 adult kids that range from 19 to 14 to include 3 girls so the bunk room was perfect for them. Google gps took us straight to the house, once we were near we made a turn that took us to a winding gravel road, I was unsure if we were going the right way until we got to the end (don't drive fast) Once we saw the river we knew we were in the right place, it was absolutely beautiful! We made it to the house and Richard was there to explain the ins and out of the area and to show us where the kayaks were. We brought groceries from the local Walmart in Galax, everyone was so friendly and most importantly taking precautions. The house was extremely clean and smelled fresh, Richard put a lot of work into the home as everything was brand new. We kayaked in the river and he even had a 4 man tube with life jackets. The river was not deep at all in front of the house and even went for a swim. This house is beautiful and is IN the mountain with beautiful Mountain View's and a river with kayak access right in the front. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life to relax in a gorgeous private atmosphere.

Restful river stay

The pictures posted are accurate - it is a beautiful location on the New River, and Richard built a great cabin! Richard was also very responsive to any questions we had. My husband and I wanted a change of scenery (we live on the coast) that would be cooler and the property was perfect. The king bed upstairs was very comfortable and our friends said the queen downstairs was as well; we didn't need the bunkroom at all. The whole place has plenty of space. We really enjoyed sitting out on the deck, or down by the river and just watching the birds or the river go by. Kayaking was fun too - we put in on the property (a little tricky) and paddled upstream past the bridge then enjoyed a leisurely float back down. Linens and towels were provided and the kitchen was equipped with all we needed - food was available a short drive away in Independence, or back in Galax. We also enjoyed a little visit to Galax - the Soap Shop, the Wine Cellar at Chapters, and the Creek Bottom Brewery. We mostly just enjoyed being at the property and not doing much (also the trip up and down the "hill" to the property is not something this flatlander wanted to do often - although my Subaru did just fine with it - it needs to be taken slowly in low gear). It is quiet in the morning and evening, but during the day the traffic on route 58 across the river picks up a bit. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and the river.

A great spot on the river!

Four couples did a few long canoe trips and had a blast! The fire pit area was a huge hit. The kitchen is fully stocked and even had extra supplies if needed. Richard was a great host that answered questions quickly. The internet and cell service (Verizon) was a little tricky, so plan on disconnecting and enjoy Mother Nature! We hope to be back.

Best Spot On The River

This house has everything you need! The kitchen is well stocked, the beds are comfy and there’s plenty of space for everyone. We took the kayaks out one day and had a blast. We also enjoyed roasting marshmallows in the fire pit by the River. Richard was a wonderful host. The house was exceptionally clean and it’s absolutely the Best Spot On The River! We will definitely be returning!
