I surprised my family with a birthday getaway and, after reading tons of reviews, thought this house would be perfect. Renters said it was clean and quiet. Boy were we surprised! Upon entering the home, we found random stuff on the living room rug and stairs that showed the floors hadn’t been vacuumed well. Our feet stuck to the kitchen floor (my socks and kids feet were quickly discolored). I rented this house thinking my young kids would love the basement bunk beds, but we couldn’t use one of the rooms because it smelled pretty bad (like someone kept their dogs locked in there for an extended period of time and it was never cleaned), so we had to stay on different floors. The next day we found black mold and tons of gunk/dead bugs in the windows, and the basement bathroom had mildew spread across the top 1/3 of the walls and so much gunk, dog hair and kibble in the corners that we closed the door and told everyone to not go in there. The bathroom on the main level had black mold on the walls above the shower, and the shower wasn’t draining properly, so my husband cleaned former renters’ hair and gunk out and bleached the tub so we could shower. There was also a pile of hair on the shower ledge indicating it wasn’t cleaned either. Leftover coffee grounds were still in the coffee maker, dried food ran down the stove and half the cabinet handles were falling off. I gave 2 stars because it was quiet/peaceful and the host seemed nice.
