I agree with you regarding enjoying the fresh mountain air; however, we determined that AC was more important in summer months to ensure our guests are comfortable in the heat. Additionally, the front door, kitchen door, and sliding panoramic window all have screens and allow for fresh mountain air flow. When there is a burn ban, the fire pit is still permitted since it is contained in stone and has a grill overlay, so it is not considered open fire. We encourage all guests to reach out with any questions so that they have an enjoyable stay.

We are glad you enjoyed the property and its beautiful setting! We love catching the sunrise over the mountains. Yes, there is some (very mild) residual noise from across the river, but with its 5 min proximity to downtown, it's a slight compromise to have both the mountains and the city at your fingertips! The view looks down on Riverside Dr, including the highly acclaimed French Broad Chocolate Factory, Ginger's Revenge Brewery (GF alcoholic ginger beer), and Zilicoah's brewery and beer garden. I did reach out for clarification on some of the points mentioned in your review but unfortunately did not receive a response, so I haven’t been able to address your specific concerns directly. I’m sorry to hear you noticed a dog smell during your stay. We take cleanliness very seriously and use several measures to ensure the home stays fresh and odor-free. All floors are hard surfaces with washable throw rugs, and our cleaner disinfects the carpets using a specialized pet-safe product after each visit. Since you brought your own dog, it’s possible the scent you noticed came from that, but without more detail from you, it’s difficult to determine. Regarding the lighting, the home is equipped with multiple options in each room to accommodate different preferences. Every bedroom and the living room have both ceiling fan lights and softer lamp lighting. The kitchen features bright overhead lighting, and a small lamp on the dining table is available for a gentler ambiance if desired. As for the neighborhood, it’s a quiet cul-de-sac with minimal through traffic—great for relaxing or walking pets. While it may not have many built-in “activities,” it’s peaceful and friendly, with considerate neighbors and generally quiet surroundings. We are happy you enjoyed the house well enough. The river view does have quite a view of pristine mountains to the east with a portion of it to the west that showcases the essence of Asheville - a quirky and eclectic beer brewery and industry clad riverfront city. The industrial area mentioned is also home to two breweries (Ginger's Revenge and Zilicoah) a church, a train station, and the famous French Broad Chocolate Factory, all in view from the house during winter because of the trees being scant with leaves. Summer does shield this, giving more of a pristine view. Also, with the proximity to downtown (3 miles) it's obvious that this is not a cabin in the middle of a mountain. The property lends itself to that mountainous feel, but it certainly isn't remote. This is mentioned in the description: "feel of the mountains in a quiet neighborhood with close proximity to downtown." I have not noticed a freeway drone because the house doesn't look down on the freeway; instead, it looks (from the opposite riverbank, across the river, up the mountain) upon Riverside Dr. a 2-lane local road, which is home to the famous River Arts District, and leads to great riverside parks, water accesses, and White Duck Taco Shop, to name a few. The heaters are baseboard heaters and do require to be turned on and off in each room, rather than a central heat control. They are marked in integrals of 10 degrees, which is marked on most, if not all. The master bedroom does have a pillow-top, and the 2nd bedroom does not because guests have varied preferences, and as hosts we want to be sure to offer something for each preference, rather than just one. A cabin retreat on a mountain high above town is available about 20+ miles (45 minutes) from downtown, not a mere 3 miles (9 minutes) away.
