Wurthmann House Unit #1 Your Home Away From Home

The charming building has a rich history with origins dating back to as early as the mid-1800s. The original structure burnt down and was rebuilt in 1918, but it is believed that parts of the early foundation still remain. It has operated as numerous businesses and has seen a handful of owners throughout its life. This newly-restored two bedroom suite upstairs features chestnut window and floor trim, hardwood floors, locally-made Amish furniture, and beautiful views of historic downtown Berlin.

Precious Home away from Home

This apartment was absolutely precious!! My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer this trip!! We’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to stay here again! Every little detail of the place is beautiful!! The hosts are so sweet and so quick to respond if you have any questions or concerns. Everything was so nice and so adorably decorated! We truly felt so cozy and right at home!! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Perfect Stay in Amish Country

We loved this place! It’s truly a home away from home, somewhere where you can relax with plenty of space right in the heart of Amish country. The location couldn’t be better. This spot is charming, convenient, and thoughtful. Easy communication with the owners and easy entry. Assigned parking is about a fifty foot walk to the door. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful and great location

This is our 4th year staying for a long weekend with friends. The location is right in the center of town, where most shops are in walking distance. It is very clean and comfortable.

Another Wonderful Stay

We've stayed here a handful of times and each stay is always pleasant. Beds were still very comfortable and enjoyed the treats left for us. We'll hopefully return soon during warmer weather.

Birthday Getaway

My husband and I have stayed here many times over the past couple years and we no longer stay anywhere else when we go to Amish Country. It is situated in the middle of town right on Main Street in Berlin and right next to the most popular restaurant in Amish Country Boyd’s and Wurthmann. If you’re shopping and your hands are full simply open the downstairs door and put your packages in the entryway and you’ll be on your way again. There is a large deck with table and chairs to relax after your adventures.You could not ask for a better place to stay. We love it. Robert and Connie are the perfect hosts. They have thought of everything!! Can’t wait for our next adventure!!

Holiday retreat

Love this property. We stayed in room one. This will be our go to accommodation when we stay in the Berlin area. Extremely comfortable living area and bedrooms. Very, very clean. They have a knack for small welcoming details which made our stay away from home, like home.

Winter Getaway

We have been to Holmes County many times and have stayed at a variety of places. Our stay here was amazing. The location was perfect! We loved the aesthetic of the property as it felt so comfy! Super comfortable beds as well. We will be back again!

Great Fall Getaway

This was the third time I’ve stayed at Wurthman House and it never disappoints. Lovely accommodations and a location that can’t be beat. We had beautiful weather so we got to enjoy the deck area that overlooks the main street. You will not be disappointed!

Relaxing Weekend!

We spent a very relaxing weekend in Holmes w/my husband's parents that were visiting OH from Oregon. The leaves in were their prime and your home was the perfect place to unwind in the evening! Felt like home!

We stayed at The Wurthman house Unit #1. From the minute we walked in it just felt so comfortable and like home. So tastefully and beautifully decorated as though someone is actually living there. Beds were comfortable and pillows fluffy. There was a washer and dryer in this unit which was a nice surprise! Our stay was too short for it but good to know for future stays as we'll definitely return. We'll likely return for short stays as my only two negatives....couch was uncomfortable to lounge on and no stove for extended stays for preparing our own meals. I don't prefer microwave cooking but others might. All and all, it was a great place to stay. Oh, i almost forgot...a reserved Parking spot for each unit was an especially nice touch. Thank you! wereweccomfortable

Lifelong residents of Holmes County, Robert and Connie Miller are the owners of Wurthmann House. They purchased the building in 2018 and have spent the last year pouring lots of love and plenty of elbow grease into restoring the upper level. The Millers have been married for 36 years and have two grown sons, two daughters-in-law, and two grandchildren. Robert is the owner and general contractor behind the local company, Ohio Dutch Construction; and Connie is a retired bookkeeper and devoted babysitter to her grandchildren.

The Millers were drawn to the building because of the beautiful interior detail and the historical significance of it in the town of Berlin. Connie also worked at the building when it was the Boyd and Wurthmann grocery store for about eight years after she graduated high school.
