Very private 4-season lakefront vacation home for families and groups on a tranquil bay of Lake St.Peter. Nestled in the rolling hills, rugged rocks and wild beauty of Hastings Highlands - near Bancroft, 25 mins to Algonquin Park, under 3hrs Toronto/Ottawa. Excellent swimming, fishing, hiking, Sled/ATV trails. 190 ft sunny waterfront, walk-in sand beach or jump off dock. Spacious 2000 sq ft cottage, Wifi, 2 kitchens, Sunroom, Wood stoves, Billiards, Foosball, Zip line, 7-seater Hot Tub, Sauna.

Welcome to Serendipity Lodge, a unique space with original features and reclaimed barn wood beams, situated atop a quiet south-facing bay with stunning 180-degree views over the lake. Our two-acre grounds are surrounded by crown land with no immediate neighbours in sight, giving you seclusion, tranquility and the ultimate escape from it all.

WHAT YOU WILL ENJOY......
Endless options for relaxation, play and dining include an open-plan kitchen/bar, farmhouse table seating 8, indoor Sauna, outdoor Hot Tub, screened-in sunroom, Billiards/Snooker table, Foosball, darts, large selection of board games, books and a DVD library. Outside there is a large entertainment deck and gazebo over the lake, second deck under the pines, hammocks, porch swing, 4-burner BBQ, 10-seat patio dining set, picnic bench, lakeside fire-pit, dock, floating mat, canoes /kayak, 80ft zip line and golf putting. The crystal clear water is perfect for family swimming with a gradual-entry sand beach yet deep enough at the end of the dock for jumping. Fish can be caught right off the dock.

ALL-SEASON FUN
Winter offers ample opportunities for ice-fishing, snowshoeing, tobogganing and lake skating right at the cottage. Our winters offer crisp temperatures, the lake freezes early in the season and there is plenty of snow. Trails right across the street from the cottage are well-groomed and well-marked from mid-December to late March. Ice-crossing for snowmobilers is next door - Sled in/Sled out at leisure!

All roads and driveway are well-ploughed in winter.

All garbage and cigarette butts must be disposed of at the local waste facilities prior to departure - leftover garbage charged at $25 per bag.

We had an absolutely perfect stay. The cottage comfortably accommodated our group of ten, providing a beautiful and peaceful setting for our family getaway. Natasha and George are fantastic hosts and we highly recommend this lovely lakeside property!

We had a wonderful stay at Serendipity Lodge. The property was spacious and beautiful with tons of fun things to do - from billiards to lounging by the lake, to heading out in a kayak. The house was clean and we especially loved the seasonal screened room - it was such a relaxing space with gorgeous views and there was always a nice breeze blowing through. The property was super quiet, which was lovely. We headed out for little hikes with our dog several times a day, as there were nice trails, but recommend to bring bug deterrent clothing if you’re venturing off the property. There were very few horse/deer flies on the property itself but they were quite relentless in the trails and down the side roads. We would definitely recommend this beautiful cottage and location to anyone who enjoys nature and the spectacular lake views.

Beautiful and great location

Lots of amenities and things to do on the property! the yard has a beautiful view of the lake in the morning. Very close to a lot of popular Algonquin trails. Host replies very quickly and was very accommodating, highly recommend!

Serendipity Lodge is a gem. It is in a quiet corner of the lake and had everything my family could want. The lake is beautiful with both a dock and walk-in, many vantage points for relaxing and boats for use. The cottage is extensive, quirky (as it should be), and has lots of space for a family to spread out. The cottage is very well stocked in the kitchens and there a lots of indoor entertainment for rainy days.

We had an incredible time at Serendipty Lodge. The lake, cottage, and facilities are the perfect combo for creating life long memories with family. The surrounding area has everything you need for shopping, groceries, souvenirs, grabbing take out, or picking up some last minute items. Natasha is also a wonderful host who is extremely responsive and goes out of her way to make sure you’re comfortable and equipped with all the knowledge and tips to make the most of your stay. We can’t wait to return

Weekend Getaway

We had an amazing weekend up at Serendipity Lodge! The location of this cottage is perfect and right next to the trail system. It is such a unique cottage and we absolutely loved our stay there. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing cottage weekend. The hot tub and sauna were defiantly added perks. Communication was so easy and we never had any issues at all. 5 stars!! Can’t wait to come back.

Beautiful peaceful location.

The cottage is in a beautiful location. It is very peaceful & has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Great to have 2 separate kitchens if travelling with family members. A great selection of boats to enjoy time on the water. The games room in the basement was great fun for the evenings. We enjoyed using the sauna & jumping straight in to the lake - very refreshing! Plenty of room for our family group of 4 adults. Communicating with Natasha has been an absolute pleasure.

Our stay at Serendipity hosted by Natasha was an absolute 10/10 experience. Even though it rained the entire time, we still had such an amazing stay — which honestly says everything about how special this place is. The water was beautiful, the atmosphere was so peaceful, and there was always something to do no matter the weather.This was my first time ever booking through VRBO, and Natasha made the entire process incredibly easy and stress-free. The instructions and communication were beyond thorough, thoughtful, and helpful from start to finish. Everything was exactly as described, clean, comfortable, and clearly cared for.I shared photos and details with both my family and clients, and every single person said they would love to visit themselves. That alone speaks volumes. Serendipity truly feels like one of those rare places where you can fully relax, reconnect, and enjoy quality time together.Highly, highly recommend staying here. We left with wonderful memories and would absolutely book again. Thank you Natasha for such a lovely experience!

Adjacent to Algonquin Park

My friends and I were keen on a winter trip skiing or snow shoeing in Algonquin park and wanted a cozy place to stay. Serendipity Lodge worked for us. Four rooms suited our group. The two kitchens did as well. Lots of firewood for the wood stove made our evenings very cozy. The lodge may offer more on-site activities during the summer with great access to the lake along with a large property. My communications with the owner were great. The distance to Algonquin Park was a little too long though for multi daily treks to the trails in the winter.

Thanks for your review and choosing us for your winter trip. We enjoy winter at the cottage and many guests take advantage of the frozen lake to do ice-fishing, ice-skating and make cool toboggan tracks down to the lake since we have a good incline. Having a sauna and roll in the snow is another popular activity! And of course the trails opposite are like Narnia. Algonquin Park is a 25min drive to east gate. Natasha & George

We were drawn to the area's wild beauty, rocky rolling hills and vast expanse of crown and provincial parkland and Canadian wilderness and wildlife.

It's a legacy cottage that is the house that Jack built! - Jack was the original owner, a nuclear scientist who lived in the cottage all year round and took great pride and ingenuity in adding to this little piece of heaven. It was also known as "Haut Haus" because of it's high-top situation affording tremendous views over a quiet bay of the lake.
