4th Block West End, hear the waves!


Looking for a getaway? The Beach Fox is semi ocean front and just steps from the 5th street beach access and blocks from the lively "downtown" strip of Folly. Two driveways, spacious front porch, inviting living room into the cozy kitchen. Recently renovated and beautifully decorated. Perfect for a small family or a group of friends longing for the beach (or a nap on the hammock).

Inside each bedroom you will find a mounted TV and closet space. The single bathroom has a shower/tub combination and his & her sinks. The kitchen has all new appliances and an open floor plan so you can still be involved in living room conversation. The dining table has 5 chairs but can easily add a 6th if needed. The coffee maker takes ground coffee and has a cleanable filter.

Outside you will find large palms in the front shading the porch and a large oak equipped with rope swing in the back. Feeling sandy? Wash off in our outdoor shower! We have a foot shower in the front of the home. The laundry is located out back in a covered shed. The large front yard gives all the needed grass for a lovely game of bocce. Beach chairs will be provided under the home.

Bringing the kids? You can watch them walk to Folly's Wave Watch Playground at the end of the street. We are not currently dog friendly.

We invite you to come enjoy our Folly Beach as much as we have!

*** We do not provide linens and towels, please bring your own or arrange for rentals before arrival. Address can be provided before your check in email. There are multiple rental companies near Folly, including linens, towels, baby care, bikes, chairs, umbrellas, etc. There is also a Walmart (with delivery options) on your way in.

Love love LOVE this little beach house! It is everything we needed and more than we could have asked for! Perfect for our family of 7! Our kids loved running around in the front yard and all of the beach toys provided and my husband and I enjoyed relaxing on the screened in front porch. It’s really close to town and to 2 different public beach access points which was amazing! Hosts were quick with communication and incredibly accommodating! 10/10 we thoroughly enjoyed our week and will absolutely try to book again!

Good Stay

The place is beauitful. Older style house. Right next to the beach. Took us maybe 3 minutes to walk to the beach. Which i loved. The outdoor shower was amazing when coming from the beach to get the sand off. They did not provide linens or towels, so that was more i had to pack in my car. That made us more crammed. But its ok because it was listed on the listing. I just overlooked it when i booked it. The washer and dryer was great to have. It was outside next to the house. My only complant was the a/c. Which it was very hot this past week that we were there. The heat index was over 100. The host called the hvac ppl day we were there and they came 2 days later bc they were so backed up. Hvac guy didnt find any issues. He actually said hes told the owners there are no issues and may need to replace windows. I think its where its an older style home. Im just giving my honest review bc i know i am one that looks at reviews before booking. When it was about 105 outside the ac would not go any lower than 78. We had to keep the lights off and 3 fans running. They do have a box fan and a small fan but be good to bring your own too. Living room stayed cool. But bedrooms did not. Thats my only complaint though, the ac. Home just might need some updated repairs to secure heat from coming in. Beauitful home, love the covered porch. The host would always text me right back. If it wasnt for the ac i probably would'v ated it perfect. There was a few stains on mattress covers, pillows,e

Perfect for our girls’ weekend!

This charming cottage was perfect for our girls’ weekend with my daughters, daughters-in-law and our youngest infant granddaughter. Location was great, house was just what we hoped for. Ripley was a very responsive host. Everything was great. Wish we could have stayed a few more days.

Perfect!

We had such a wonderful stay! The house is comfortable and so charming. The porch is especially lovely and a perfect place to relax. We loved the easy beach access and daily walks to downtown for coffee, dinners and provisions from Bert’s. We look forward to coming back!

Amazing!

This house was absolutely perfect for everything we needed! The perfect size, the kitchen was VERY well stocked, and they also had plenty of chairs for the beach. Such a cute and quirky little place

Girls weekend getaway

We absolutely loved our stay! The house was adorable, clean, and provided all we needed for our beach stay. Communication with the owner was timely and extremely helpful. Any small issues we had (short on beach towels, extra toilet paper) were addressed and remedied very quickly. The outdoor shower and foot wash station were perfect for coming off the beach. Highly recommend this adorable getaway beach house!

Stay at your own risk

This was sadly the worst experience I have ever had staying at a VRBO. The house is mostly fine, but there were issues (rotten boards and soft spots in floor and washer/dryer are outside the house and rusted). My gripe is really with the owner and property manager. The first night, the A/C went out and it was 100 degrees outside. This was not their fault, but I reached out to the owner through the app and they never responded. The PM did respond and was initially kind enough to apologize for the inconvenience and offer to comp the first night as a result (I did not ask for this). The next day however we waited all morning for a repairperson and the property manager did not offer to send someone out to wait in our place. They fixed the unit, but the next day they returned again b/c they said they had to fix the washer/dryer. We wasted another entire morning (to be fair, the PM said we could leave but we needed them to work so we stayed). The A/C went out AGAIN the final night of our stay. I was admittedly very frustrated but the PM never responded when I let them know and sent screenshots of thermostat again. I also never received the promised refund despite reaching out repeatedly to both the PM (she had said it was "in process") and the owner thereafter. I even called VRBO for help. I thought about this a lot and what to say. I have never left a negative review for anything but in this case it's the dishonesty that makes me the maddest.

Great house and location

We really enjoyed our stay in Folly beach. The house has plenty of room and is very comfortable. Plenty of amenities and a great location. Would definitely choose this house again.

Extenuating Circumstances

I am not reviewing this property from a first hand experience. I had a death in the family and the property owner was only willing to refund my cleaning fee and offered a discounted stay upon another booking, so I told my friends to take the house for the weekend. They enjoyed the location and the house. It was clean and the location was good, plus parking! I was informed of some strange rules written in an interestingly worded rule book provided. One example: place the towels in the washing machine but don't strip the beds. They said there is no washing machine in the house, or where to find it mentioned in said book. I never know what the cleaning fees go towards if it's not cleaning... I think they enjoyed their experience overall. From my personal perspective, I understand it can be frustrating as an owner, but it's Folly Beach in June, it could have been re-listed and rented out, or a negation about refunding the nightly rental but not the VRBO fees plus re-listing, there were options. Anyway, I think others will have a lovely experience in this house and really enjoy their stay. Unfortunately I did not. But hey, that's life.

Quick family weekend

We had a few days to spend in Folly Beach with our kids who are in there early 20's. The house was great, good location, not a long walk to the beach, and not hard to drive into Charleston. The house was very cute, clean, and great screen in porch.

Beautiful home!

This was the perfect Folly Beach escape. Right across from the beach with two convenient entrances, the home was clean, tastefully decorated, and the porch was a delight! Would definitely stay here again.

Folly Beach Bungalow

What a cute older home! Very Comfortable beds and the kitchen was equipped well. Very close to the beach access! Perfect location! Enjoyed morning coffee on the porch. Advertised as a 2 bath really only one. That was a little tricky with 4 women. Only one toilet. The outside shower was used also one day. It was raining on the am of departure and it was a little difficult washing the towels prior to departure due to the W/D being outside in a little shed but it only covered the appliances. Overall we enjoyed our stay. It was a great girl trip!

The Devine Family purchased The Beach Fox just before the COVID pandemic hit. During their down time they fully renovated their wobbly shack and turned it into a dream vacation space.

Folly is a beautiful yet funky, fun time place. It can either feel like your own private hideaway or a party on Bourbon Street.
The Beach Fox is located on the West end of Folly, the less crowded side. Just steps from the beach access and a quick walk to the downtown strip, you can't go wrong staying here.
