NEW LISTING!!! Welcome to "Oh Buoy", a completely renovated designer home located oceanside in Kill Devils Hills on the Outer Banks.

Located at milepost 7 Oceanside, our 4 bedroom / 3 bath home with PRIVATE POOL is only 2 blocks to 1st Street Beach (lifeguards, showers & one of the best surf spots on OBX).

Oh Buoy offers an open concept living space, great for families or a group of friends. The pool, front decks, back lounge area, lower illuminated areas & pool deck all give plenty of space to spread out.

In addition to being only 2 blocks to the beach, our home is within walking distance to Goombay's Raw Bar & Grill, Beachside Bistro, Lost Treasure Golf, Max's, Publix & the Wrightsville Memorial.

We offer everything you need for the perfect beach trip! Beach chairs, umbrella, beach cart, sand toys, surfboard/boogie boards & cooler are included in your stay. We also provide all linens & towels.

This was a very last minute rental and the host was more than accommodating. The property was perfect for me and my children. Super clean and exactly as advertised. Returning to this area soon and will definitely be trying to stay here again!

Awesome stay! House was perfect and well stocked with everything we needed. The pool is a good size and our 4 teens loved it. The walk to the beach is short and easy. Great screened in porch to enjoy the evening sunset. Shyla was super responsive and really helpful in sharing tips for beat places to eat. Highly recommend!!!

The owner did an incredible job with updating the house and providing everything that we needed. The decor was beautiful! Communication was quick and easy. We would definitely recommend this rental and would stay here again!

Great house with a wonderful host!

Such care is put into the property, making it easy to enjoy a relaxing vacation with everything we needed! The convenience was so helpful - from the outdoor shower to clean up from the beach, the outdoor gear provided for the beach and pool, and the close proximity to walk to the beach. Shyla was wonderful - easy to reach out to with any questions and we enjoyed her recommendations on places to visit - we had a fantastic time at Pea Island. We would stay again for sure!

Excellent rental

Shyla and team were very accommodating, and the correspondence and connection was amazing. Besides some inclement weather which no one can control, it was a beautiful time of fellowship and getting together with our kids and grandchildren.

Weekend stay

We came for a destination wedding on the beach. The weather was great, the house was perfect . We had a little issue with a toilet which was resolved in minutes by Shyla who got a hold of a plumber. Would definitely stay here again. Great location and all the amenities

Quick visit

Our family enjoyed our overnight stay. The host was very accommodating to our special needs. The house is well located and comfortable. The decor is charming and the kitchen is well furnished. We did not use the pool but we all wished we could have because it was very inviting and convenient. My daughter-in-laws all said they would love to rent it when they visit again.Thanks again for a great experience!

It was my 50th birthday party we had a blast the house and the property was perfect .

My 50th birthday party was wonderful we had an exciting time with different family and friends coming and going throughout the week the property is less than five minutes to the beach and two or three minutes to a great drink and food. Everything was exactly like it was described in the pictures do not do the property justice it is beautiful the host had everything we needed and more.

This house and property was one of the best we have stayed in from the kitchen which had everything you could want to fix meals to the spacious open area great room. The screened front porch with picnic table for eating dinners. Had lunch downstairs on the other picnic table. Kids enjoyed the swing seats down there. We played games in that large area on the rainy day. Outside shower to wash sand off was great. Owner provided large cart that we fit 7 chairs 2 umbrellas and our kids beach toys to push to the beach. We all enjoyed the pool and covered seating under the deck after being on the hot beach. Owner was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants, groceries, activities, ice cream and coffee shops. Great vacation!

DO NOT BOOK THIS VRBO

THIS WAS BY FAR THE WORST HOST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! The property had no refrigeration for the 1st two nights of our stay. Both refrigerators were inoperable. The host knew about the issues days before our arrival. The host actually ordered a refrigerator the day before our arrival which proves she knew about it well before we got there. Then she refused delivery of the new refrigerator while we were there…w/o refrig!After we discovered the refrigeration issues and informed the host, she provided an igloo cooler and 2 bags of ice for 7 people. We continuously had to run out for ice & groceries for 2 days until a repairman could come & fix the issues. The host insisted & argued that we were not using the downstairs refrigerator properly. She called and argued with me so much that I asked her to stop calling and texting. When the repairman confirmed both refrigerators were broken, the host sent an insincere apology while still defending her inactions. It’s absurd that our vacation was severely disrupted for the 1st 48 hrs when the host was well aware of the broken appliances before our arrival. A RESPONSIBLE HOST would have contacted their guests w/ these issues before we arrived. On a different note, the host is highly inexperienced w/ the duties of a host. For a 5 night stay for 7ppl, she provided 4 rolls of toilet paper & a 1/2 roll of paper towels! There were not enough bath towels.Save your money & book a hotel w/ a pool instead of this property!!!

My 5-STAR ratings, 6 years of hosting & guest comments speak for themselves. When reading this review of our property & my host ability, please read ALL other reviews. Appliances break, this cannot be controlled. What can be controlled is how one deals with the issue. I communicated ALL steps to resolve the issue prior to guests arriving at the house. Within 36 hours, I had a repairman diagnose the issue, overnight parts & repair the refrigerator. I ordered a refrigerator as a “backup” in case the appliance could not be repaired & cancelled the order, which I assume is understandable. In the meanwhile, we provide another refrigerator at the house (1-year-old & working). In addition, I purchased & delivered a 100qt igloo cooler & 32lbs of ice to the guests within 5 hours of check-in. As indicated in our detailed welcome letter, 10 bath towels, 4 beach towels, 4 rolls of TP & 1 roll of paper towels were provided to these guests. As a host, communication is VERY important. I did call/text to update the guest about the status of the refrigerator throughout their stay & also apologized for the inconvenience.

Cozy & Sweet

We were happy to stay in “Oh Buoy” for our first ever OBX trip! The home was immaculate & perfect for our family! Our group of ten included my mom & dad, sister & her husband, myself & my husband, & my sister’s son, & my 3 kids (ages 4-10). The home is an open plan with the four bedrooms off of the combined kitchen & living room area. It’s definitely a cozy atmosphere, conducive to spending quality time together. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were! Our kids LOVED the bunk beds! The various porches & cozy outdoor seating areas with twinkle lights were a sweet touch! I highly recommend the adirondack chairs for morning coffee (there’s a Keurig!) My kids loved the swing chairs under the deck. The pool was fantastic! It was a must for the littles - it was used daily & had a great setup! Shayla was in touch & ready to help every step of the way. Even her welcome letter gave us great recommendations for where we could go out for dinner & some of her favorite places to visit (including her favorite beaches). The beach within walking distance was fantastic! We were also able to drive & park there, as needed, for my mom (she had recent knee surgery). The Pea Island beach is worth a day trip! Shayla had everything you could think of for the beach available for use! (chairs, toys, cooler, umbrellas, wagon, boogie boards, etc.) “Oh Buoy’s” setup would make for an amazing trip among close friends &/or family. I’m sure we’ll be back! Thanks for everything, Shayla!

My husband & I fell in love with the small town feel of the Outer Banks 5 years ago. I enjoy showing guests all the great things that this little sandbar has to offer.

Our home was designed for guests to show up with just clothes and food (and maybe ingredients to make the perfect margarita). We have absolutely everything at the house...beach chairs, wagon, umbrellas, cooler, bags game, bikes, surf & boogie boards, pool toys and floaties, linens & towels, even your own POOL. You will easily feel at home with all the personal touches and decor....old buoys, oars & a barn beam that will make you swoon :). King beds, a bunk room with a game system, front porch with table that seats 10, back deck & pool deck with sectional sofa. You will love the feel of an outdoor shower after a long day at the beach or pool. Sit back, relax & enjoy memories with your family that will last for years!
