The home was very clean and had ample pillows and blankets. Loved that there was a kitchen and laundry. The only negatives was that there was not enough dish soap and no dish sponge and an upgrade on the cookware would be appreciated.

The Boathouse in Gearhart was spacious, in a quiet neighborhood, and conveniently close to everything. We really enjoyed our time at the beach and appreciated the relaxing atmosphere. A perfect getaway spot!

Relaxing Stay

We had a great time. Enjoyed the serene setting and having a bedroom suite over the garage was perfect for our family. Wasn't crazy about filling out a detailed condition report at check-in. The host was responsive to my questions. We'd definitely stay there again.

Loved The Boathouse!

We loved our stay at the boathouse. Communication with the property management team was absolutely wonderful! The house was clean, and had a great view of the cove. We loved that we could also get to the beach quickly by car or foot. They did have a baby gate and high chair which we found super helpful and convenient especially since there are stairs. I wouldn’t recommend this house with toddler aged kids and probably wouldn’t stay here again with little, littles, but this home is absolutely wonderful for any other aged group!

Good Proximity to multiple sight-seeing locations

We needed a house with three separate rooms each with a queen or king bed and 3 separate bathrooms for all the adults. On short notice that was hard to come by. This house had good light with all the windows and nice decks including the roof. There was almost everything we needed in the kitchen to cook all meals there, including a grill and very efficient range. While the showers (2 out of 3) where a bit small/tight for taller folks, there was enough clean linens for everyone and we only missed having a blow dryer. It was quiet and relaxing and neighbors were quiet as well - just what we had hoped for. An easy 15 minute drive to both Seaside and Astoria, and also close enough to Cannon Beach. That was perfect for the friends who flew into town and had never been to Oregon before.

Comfy house - Not ideal layout

Check in process was bizarre - had to fill out a very long form similar to an apartment move-in sheet - detailing each space and then text them to come pick it up during your first day. We found that disruptive and a turn off. The sauna was not working, just labeled “non-functioning”. King bed outside and upstairs above garage. So a not good set up for a family needing to be near kids — if you’re looking for a 3 bedroom with rooms in the same house, not for you. View is nice from the roof but can’t see ocean from main levels. I guess you get what you pay for here. Perfectly functional, affordable but not as clean we’d liked and not comfortable layout for us with kids. Also make sure to note there is not AC and most windows don’t open. But fan in house worked and we were cool at night. Close to town and easy to visit beaches by car. House well stocked with kitchen basics. But bring your own shampoos. Interesting VRBO, overall worked fine.

Unpleasant Surprises

It was not in the property description that the living area and kitchen were on the second floor and the stairs weresomewhat iffy! Two bedrooms with queen beds were on the first floor. The king bedroom which we wanted was separate from the house over the garage accessed by an outside staircase. As we are 80 and I am in need of a hip replacement, this was not a possibility. The Boathouse has some nice features. The upstairs living room is smallbut has a lot of windows. The kitchen has up to date appliances. I can't image how more than four adults could be comfortable in the living room however. In the summer the deck could be very nice and the property is surrounded by trees. The estuary is a short distance.I cannot imagine why it is not in the property descriptionthat the living area, kitchen and dining are on the 2nd floor! This would be a difficult situation for families that needed to be close to small children as well as for anyone not physically fit. The next day the property managers did try to find something else for us but there was nothing available in Gearhart in our price range sowe stayed where we were. Overall the property managers were very helpful although when we first arrived in the dark (6:00pm) we couldn't reach anyone by phone for two or three hours.:00pm and discovered the situation, we couldn't reach anyone for two or three hours.t

A unique rental with a mother-in-law suite allowing extra privacy for one couple. Very clean and great beds for sleeping well. Bathroom towels good and generous amount. Bathtub/shower floor could use a rubber mat for safety. Shower water very generous! Kitchen was adequate although we ate out most meals. Some nicks and scratches and wobbly chairs to be expected in an older property. Hallways skirt the perimeter of the house on two sides with all windows floor to ceiling - interesting but one cannot wander in undies here. Bedrooms in main house also have floor to ceiling windows with venetian blinds. Outer hallway windows have no blinds so there is some feeling of lack of privacy even with bedroom venetian blinds down. Stairs in both buildings - not easy for disabled, I would think. Grounds were lovely with bushes and trees, walking paths and pass throughs. A quiet neighborhood when we were there. Fun to walk the area, close to bay and a fairly short walk to beach.

We’ll be back!!

We loved loved loved the location of this little beach house. Although no beach access (kids were bummed) it holds amazing views of the water and beaches close by!! The mother in law that is included is a steal and makes for great travel with multiple families!! We loved how close it was to the Gearheart Golf corse and a hop right over the bridge to Seaside!! Cannot wait to come back!!

Gearhart vacation

The house is huge! The beach was only a short drive away and it was more private. Super close to seaside! Amazing view on the top deck. The main floor was surrounded by trees and beautiful foliage. It felt like we were in a tree house. Amazing!

Corky house

This house is surely unique! Great location but not easy to get to the beach. We also loved the private suite above the garage.

Great property, unique layout but amazing! Next time bring bug spray for the top patio, very clean, given an improper code which seems like the cleaning people messed up on that on, check in says 5pm on site but when I called they said 3pm while check out says noon on the counter and 10 or 11 per text from them, this should be cleared up so people can plan accordingly. I do love how they helped when I called right away and responded!
