Peaceful 3 BR Cottage halfway between sandy beaches and historic Charleston

Location, location, location... You will be minutes from plenty to do in and around Mount Pleasant, a suburb of Charleston. This neighborhood is perfect for a nice walk or bike ride. Going any direction will either lead you toward sandy beaches, marshy creeks, plenty of restaurants or the Ravenel Bridge which has an excellent view of the area.

Also located near the Old Village you will find The Old Bridge which used to link Sullivan's Island to Mount Pleasant during the Civil War era. This has been converted to a nice park and surrounded by the intercoastal waterway. Great location for fishing, crabbing, shrimping or watching the sun set over Charleston from the benches.

Restaurants on Shem Creek give you a taste of Charleston's finest seafood while watching the shrimp boats come in to dock or kayaks paddle on by. The old village Pitt Street area gives you a unique feeling of what Mt. Pleasant was when it spread out from Charleston onto the islands.

The house is minutes from Sullivan's Island, home of Fort Moultrie where the first shots of the civil war rang! You will be also about 3 miles from Patriot Point which is a Naval Wartime Museum (golf course across street).

In 5 minutes, you can also go to the Charleston visitors center downtown. You will see advertisements for all splendor Charleston and its surrounding areas have to offer in one location. There is just too much to list here...

Charleston may be a small town, but this city punches well above its weight. When you consider everything, it has to offer - history, culture, food, charm - it's no wonder the city has topped country's list of the best small cities in the U.S. for fifteen years running. Charleston's charm includes nationally recognized food and culture festivals, stately homes, cobblestone streets, waterfront views, and an abundance of flowering window boxes. Find a seat among its many outdoor terraces for a drink and some fresh oysters and try to resist the urge to up and move her.

Great Location, Nice Neighborhood

Great little place to stay. Clean and the owner communicated well. Great amenities for us and was fairly close to downtown. Nice little backyard with table and chairs. Definitely would stay here again.

House was clean and in a great location. Good communication and easy check in. There's plenty of food and shopping nearby and a quick drive to the beach or downtown. Couple things - there's a coffee pot and not a Keurig. Coffee was provided in a can, but I had to use google to figure out how to use a coffee pot (this is on me). There is a washer and dryer, but there were no tide pods or detergent so we couldn't was the wet clothes before we packed and went home. The air conditioner doesn't go below 70 and makes the bedrooms warm at night. We had a great stay and would recommend this home.

Dear Michael, Thank you again for staying with us and for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate every review, as it helps future guests better understand our home. I would like to clarify a few points you mentioned. First, we do not advertise a Keurig coffee maker. The coffee maker provided in the home is clearly shown in our listing photos. As someone with a professional background in food, I personally prefer traditional coffee brewing methods over single-use pod systems. Regarding the laundry detergent, it is always provided and kept next to the washer and dryer even detergent is not mentioned in our listing. If you had contacted us during your stay, we would have been happy to explain exactly where it was located and how to use it. As for the air conditioning, our listing and House Rules clearly explain the thermostat settings before booking. To ensure guests’ comfort while protecting the HVAC system from freezing during periods of extreme heat and humidity, the thermostat is preset within a range of 70–78°F. This follows U.S. Department of Energy guidance and HVAC industry recommendations, with most people finding indoor temperatures of 75–77°F to be the most comfortable. Great Location in Mt Pleasant

We visited the area for a wedding without knowing one of the largest 10k races were in town the same weekend. This location was perfect for letting us get around and it’s so close to downtown Charleston!! It was the perfect size for my group and Angela (property owner) was very informative and responsive to any questions. Thanks, Angela!!

Nice house in convenient location

Would definitely recommend this house. It’s in a good location close to the beach and downtown. The house was very clean. I really appreciated the the small touches like the ring dish on the night stand, and the nice shampoos and soaps. I would rent this house again. The book with recommendations and house info was helpful. The owner is very nice and helpful as well.

Short and sweet stay

Mrs. Angela was a great host. Easy access to the interstate. We didn’t spend MUCH time at the home because the purpose of the trip was to be around family. She had everything we needed.

Nice and Cozy

Checking into the place was very seamless. Our Host Angela, provided clear details and even pictures to ensure we located the correct unit and parking spaces. Once we arrived, we found the unit clean which made us feel comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and bathroom with toiletries which we appreciated. Plenty of clean towels and a working washer and dryer if needed. This is a nice place and nice area surrounded by shops, restaurants, and bars.

Good weekend getaway

Went to a wedding at the Citadel 10 minutes away 2 miles from beach. Very clean place. Hope to stay again.

Being the owner of an international company, I extensively traveled renting Bed and Breakfasts and hotels all around the world. However, we always preferred B&B because their local flavor, ability to rent spacious comfortable properties and meet hosts in various countries. Our favorite places are Capri and Amalfi Coast in Italy, San Sebastian in Spain, and Beaune, Provence, Bordeaux in France. Traveling we got a good inclination of what we value the most at vacation rentals and tried to implement this experience to our B&B.
After semi-retiring 9 years ago, we moved from Chicago to Charleston because we found it to be unique and one of our favorite cities for food, culture and southern charm. We will be happy to make your vacation as relaxing and fun as possible.

Sandy Shore Retreat is only minutes away from plenty to do in and around Mount Pleasant. Going any direction will lead to sandy beaches, marshy creeks, plenty of restaurants. Old Village is only one mile away. The Old Bridge used to link Sullivan Island to Mt. Pleasant during the Civil War. Today this area been converted to a nice park surrounded by intercoastal waterway - great location for fishing or just watching the sun set over Charleston. Restaurants of Shem Creek give you a taste of Charleston's seafood while watching boats, pelicans or dolphins passing by. The house is 2.5 miles away from Sullivan Island where you may visit Fort Moultrie, the site of American victory against British soldiers. Fort was built of palmetto logs, and they inspired the state flag and nickname of South Carolina as "The Palmetto State". Charleston Visitor Center is only 6 miles away where you will find information about the city.

This is your vacation! Why to spend your valuable time driving if you can be in the middle of the best? Come out to Shem Creek and spend your time on its long boardwalks and short trails, visit its historic bars and restaurants, take a boat or go fishing. Shem Creek is only 1.5 miles away from your vacation home. Love beach? Sullivan Island is just a 2.5 miles away. When you're ready to get out and explore, stores, restaurants, museums, and more in downtown Charleston are just 7 miles away.
