Welcome to Kay's Downtown Hideaway! Nestled in downtown Sylva, our newly renovated home is in walking distance to restaurants, shopping, brewery's, parks, and more. Our home offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. You'll be close to waterfalls, hiking trails, white water rafting, canoeing, zip lining, lakes, Harrahs Cherokee Casino, Skiing and more! Asheville is about 45 minutes away. Enjoy the peaceful creek running alongside the porch while you sip your morning coffee and relax!

Our home is newly renovated and has luxury vinyl plank throughout. (No carpet, yay!) Here at Kay’s downtown hideaway, you’ll have all of the "in town conveniences” while still being tucked away in your own private area.

It’s a short 3 minute walk across the street to Mark Watson Park which includes tennis courts, basketball courts, a playground, dog park and ball fields. Walk to quaint, historic downtown Sylva in 6 minutes where you’ll have plenty of dining options, shopping, breweries, wine bar, coffee shops, ice cream, chocolate shop and more! There is an art fair on Saturdays downtown as well!

Kay's is a quiet and peaceful getaway home that has something for everyone. Whether you just want to order take out and binge watch Netflix or go explore all of the beauty and outdoor activities that Western North Carolina has to offer, Kay's Downtown Hideaway has got you covered!

You’ll have easy access to waterfalls, tubing, white water rafting, zip lining, hiking trails, fishing and more all in a short driving distance.

Take a stroll downtown and go shopping and eat at one of the great restaurants or stop for a drink at one of the three breweries. Or maybe you'll want to go gamble your pocket change at Harrahs Cherokee Casino which is a short 20 minute drive away. In the morning you can sit on the porch swing and drink your coffee while enjoying the fresh mountain air and listening to the creek run by!

Our house guide book will provide great hiking and waterfall locations, family friendly activities in the area, local attractions, restaurant recommendations and more.

Our Neighborhood is safe and quiet. There is a community garden a short 3 minute walk away. There are two churches in the neighborhood. The Sylva farmers market is only a 7 minute walk away and in that same area, there are free concerts every Friday night at the Bridge Park gazebo during the summer!

Farmers market starts at 9am beginning April 3 and goes until noon each Saturday through October. The Wednesday evening market will begin at 3:30 at Innovation Station at Dillsboro and goes until 6:30.

The Sylva public pool is an 8 minute walk away. Historic downtown Dillsboro is a 3 minute drive. Western Carolina University is about 10 minutes. Harrahs Cherokee Casino is a 20 minute drive away. The entrance to the most beautiful section of the Blue Ridge Parkway is 10 minutes away. Hop over to Lake Junaluska and Waynesville in about 20 minutes & Maggie Valley- 25 minutes. Cataloochee Ski resort is a 45 minute drive. Asheville is about 45 minutes away!

Great getaway

Our friends and family stayed at Kay’s Getaway while they were in town for our sons birthday. It was a great location and Katherine was wonderful to work with before, during and after our visit.

A perfect Hideaway!

My family and friends stayed here, in the cutest little town of Sylva, shopped & dined (easy walk), then adventured to the Great Smoky Mountains Polar Express (which is only 20 minutes away). Definitely be back!

We've stayed at multiple houses & cabins over the years & I must say this one was tops for being well equipped, clean, quiet, , a great location. We had to contact the host a couple of times & she was was extremely prompt & helpful. I made a mistake on our check out date & she even let us pay & stay an extra day! Definitely recommend!

Summer 2024

This was an amazing home in a very central location for all activities. The home was stocked with everything you could need. The beds were comfortable and it had excellent Wi-Fi service. The location is perfect for hiking, rafting, horseback riding, and more. We would definitely come back!

Would love to return!

Came into Sylva for the first time for a wedding. Home was awesome! Location was awesome! The hideaway had everything we could ask for. Was a quick trip only 2 nights, but we were able to easily walk to downtown and enjoy some of the great shops and restaurants. Planning to return for a longer visit in the future!

Lovely convenient vacation home in Sylva

The house was perfect for our family and friends who were in town for a wedding at The Vineyards at Betty’s Creek. It was clean and comfortable and cozy with a well equipped kitchen. The porch swing and outdoor seating by the creek offered inviting places to relax. We were steps away from downtown Sylva with all of its shops, restaurants, and breweries (with a shout-out to the Lazy Hiker) and nice parks for kids. The tricky part was finding it because it is tucked back off the road (which is a nice feature!). We found that parking in the Redeemer Church parking lot next door made ingress and egress easier. The owner was very communicative and helpful before, throughout, and after our visit. We highly recommend!

Perfect rental for our wedding week needs!

Such a lovely stay in a rental that provided for all of our needs ahead of our daughter's wedding this past weekend. Peaceful, quiet setting. A fabulous kitchen table to sit around for meals and conversation, or in our case wedding prep central to hold all the DIY embellishments for the wedding. A very comfortable space in general. Kudos to Jessica, the housekeeper, for maintaining the high standard of cleanliness required by Katherine, the lovely host. Katherine was ultra communicative and an understanding soul. Grateful to have had such a professional and kind human to communicate with. The front porch swing was a perfect spot to enjoy my morning cup of coffee. The fire pit area was our respite in the evenings, amply supplied with wood and chairs to accommodate any size guest. The location in general is very accessible to Main Street. If you are reading this, I encourage you to make your reservation right away. There is a reason this rental stays booked up!

Great place to stay!

This was probably the cleanest place we have ever stayed in through vrbo. All supplies promised were there. Surroundings were beautiful, including small creek, groundhogs, fireflies and a front porch cat my grandson named Thunder due to it being totally gray. The house was within a short walking distance of downtown Sylva, with many cute shops and places to eat. Several parks within a close drive or walk. Short driving distance to many fun family activities. In spite of being in the city the property is very quiet and private. 2 bedrooms up and 1 down, with futon in living room. We chose to sleep up in king size bed, but would probably take the downstairs next time due to steep stairs and bad knees. 😊 All bedrooms similar size and furnishings, all with TV. One bathroom up and one down. Kitchen well appointed, even 2 coffee makers. I could go on and on. Had a great time! Our 2 grandsons really enjoyed the public swimming pool in Sylva. We had been to Sylva and the pool previously, and it was actually one of the reasons we chose Sylva. Also went on GSMRR, white water rafting, gem mining, local "old-fashion" Quin theatre, met friends in Asheville for dinner one evening, and more. Wish we had another week. Didn't make it to Cherokee this time, which we also enjoy. Love Sylva and loved our stay in Kay's Hideaway. P.S. Wi-fi was fantastic! Much better that what we have at home (we live in the country!)

Adorable cottage with everything we needed for our two week stay. Location was excellent, walking distance into town with lots of restaurants and shops. Communication with the property owner was quick and easy, and we appreciated the snacks and lovely note waiting for us on arrival!

Cutest Lil’ Place!

My family and I had a wonderful time at this property. Aside from the fact that the surrounding towns are so quaint and friendly (a welcome reprieve from the city), Kay’s Hideaway was such a cozy, well-maintained place for a Christmas holiday. We hope to return in warmer months to explore different parts of the mountains. I’d definitely recommend this place 100 times over!

AWESOME PLACE & PRICE

We came in town for a wedding. Place had everything we needed and then some. We were right around the corner from family and could walk there. Little touches like snacks made our stay easier with the little ones because we drove into town and they needed a little something. Place was beautiful, spacious and very clean and very well stocked. Wedding weekend
