We think you'll just love our oh-so comfortable and inviting guest suite. Tucked away beyond the back yard of the main house, The Zen Den is peaceful and quiet yet, just a few minutes drive to Main Street. Breathe in the cool mountain air and take time for yourself up in the meditation loft that looks out to serene pastoral and wilderness views. Plan an easy hike right from the cabin to 2 national forest trail heads or simply relax on your deck.

Loma Linda Farm is up on a beautiful south facing hill at Highlands' cool elevation of 4118'.
Our animals are kept in designated areas and do not have access to The Zen Den cabin, yard or driveway. We ask that you please keep your dogs on a leash while outdoors on the farm and not interact with our animals directly unless escorted by the host.

WINTERTIME NOTE:
Please know that during the winter months, the mountain weather can get tricky with extreme cold, ice and snow storms. The power could go out and so could the internet.
And, if the driveway ices over, you may need to walk up the hill from the road to the cabin. The likelihood of any of this happening is pretty low but I don't want you to have any adverse surprises during your trip.

Lovely little cottage about 5 minutes from downtown Highlands. Don’t plan to cook here, but there is enough equipment and a microwave to make the kitchenette functional. Nice setting, rustic and quiet. Not luxurious by any means, but exactly what we needed for a well priced, last minute getaway.

The Zen Den Guest Suite was perfect. The place was clean and in a great location. The host was great, easy to contact and get information from. If you are looking for something small and quiet this is the place for you. You will not regret staying here. I know if I am in need of a place to stay in Highlands again this is the place I will want to stay

We had a wonderful stay! The location is perfect—just a short walk to Glen Falls, less than 1.5 miles from the supermarket, and close to everything Highlands has to offer. What made this cabin truly special was how it made me feel. Staying here brought me back to my parents’ summer house—wooden, warm, and full of love. It felt like stepping into the past, when life was simpler, evenings were quiet, and reading a good book was all we needed.Thank you for sharing such a peaceful, welcoming place. I will always remember this little Zen retreat and the warm memories it brought back.

Another wonderful stay at the Zen Den

This is my second time staying at Linda’s place and it was just perfect! So close to my favorite hiking spots , quick trip to town, cozy and peaceful, clean and well stocked…and a perfect setting to relax and enjoy all that Highlands has to offer . Thanks Linda!!!

relaxing retreat

Beautiful property just outside of town. With the windows open, we could hear water flowing from a nearby creek. Comfortable, quiet and homey. Great price for the area.

Thank you, Linda for an incredibly easy, relaxing, and inspiring stay at your little slice of heaven tucked into the hillside! We have never brought our fourth child (a DOG!) with us for a mini-vacation, but this listing allowed us to do so and it was a breeze. Despite heavy rains throughout our stay, we got in some hikes (just walk right out the door and 15 minutes later you're at Glenn Falls!), lots of naps, dog walks, amazing dinners (definitely hit up the Italian restaurant in town), and birdwatching. Linda was so easy to communicate with, seek advice from, and do business with. We will definitely return and definitely recommend her home away from home to our friends and family. We loved it!

Wonderful Retreat in the Mountains

We had a wonderful short stay at the Zen Den. It is a wonderful cozy property in the mountains with a beautiful view and surroundings. It was just as described and Linda was a great host!! The location was perfect for Highlands as well….just a short 8 minute drive from Main Street.

Quaint cottage

We enjoyed our stay. It was quiet and we enjoyed being able to walk to Glen Falls. Not far from downtown, but it seemed so far away.

Tranquil Retreat

We had a wonderful time staying at the Zen Den with our pups. It was so peaceful & has a nice long quiet road to walk the dog. The cabin has everything you need right in reach & a very comfortable bed. Linda is nearby & answers all your questions- a great host! Zen Den is a gem - close to hiking & town.

Great location, near downtown Highlands

This quirky little cabin fit our needs perfectly for a spur of the moment trip to the mountains. We liked the location - about 2 miles or so to the center of town. It was on the smaller side but great for 2 people and had everything we needed. Having horses on the property was a plus. We loved the natural, rural setting.

Great place to stay for a quick trip to the mountains.

We had a small window of opportunity for a trip to Highlands, NC. I found The Zen Den on VRBO and the description met what we needed. The owner gave perfect directions on how to get to our location (the gps would have never got us there) and had turned the heat on before our arrival. The place was very clean and comfortable. The cooking situation was very limited but for our short stay it was fine. For two people and a short stay the Zen Den was perfect!

Cute cottage in lovely setting but a few problems. Cabin was musty and had spider webs, Main house had dogs that were confined to porch but barked incessantly when outside. Needs to have flood lighting for walking back to cottage at night

Cabin on the Hill

A small but well equipped cabin at the end of a private road. A deck with table and chairs expands the living space. Very quiet location behind the owners house. There is a fenced in yard at this cabin perfect for a dog to explore. There is a barn and fenced area for the two horses. A large section of the pasture has reverted to natural plantings which attract a variety of birds. The road to the cabin runs along the pasture providing viewing and photographing opportunities. The host lives on the property and was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. We would stay at this location again.

Peaceful getaway

We had a lovely few days, winding down. The tiny but very cute cabin was perfect; rustic but warm and cozy. It was quiet and peaceful with plenty of walks in close proximity. The host was perfect and, though living very close by, was not at all intrusive. We would definitely return.

Fall Week end at the Zen Den

Our little week end stay in the zen den was lovely! It’s in a perfect location all snuggled up in the woods but yet close to town and restaurants etc It is very small but very cozy ❤️ Linda is a wonderful host and had everything we could have needed available to us. During our stay we had a key mishap and hated to bother Linda but she was most helpful and kind helping us out with that.

Lovely!

My husband & I have stayed at many places in Highlands. From cabins to hotels/Inns. The Zen Den was peaceful & cozy! We loved the location was close to town but the best thing was we could actually walk to Glen Falls which is one of our favorite hikes. We’ll be back!

Rustic, restful retreat

The cabin is adorable! While it is tiny, we were amazed at how everything we needed was there. The space is extremely functional and very comfortable. A great place for a weekend retreat!

Peaceful , great location ,everything done in excellence.

We felt like we were deep in the woods, yet just off the main road.So enjoyed breakfast on the porch,with the faint sound of Glen falls and horses meandering threw their field. Place was very clean. Owner was extreamely helpful. We would go back and definitely recommend to our friends.
