Every year herds of Bison travel to the Horse Butte peninsula to give birth to their calves. During the spring and early summer seasons, hundreds of Bison, young and old, pass right through the front yard. This is truly a once in a lifetime experience, worthy of anyone’s bucket list.
The house is a mere 10 minute drive from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, take advantage of the park’s 1,000+ miles of trails which can be enjoyed on foot, skis, bike, or snowmobile depending on the season. The house lies just 45 minutes outside of the resort town of Big Sky, where you can enjoy some of the best down-hill skiing in the United States. For those seeking a truly wild experience, journey to the Lee Metcalf Wilderness where you can enjoy rugged peaks, dense forests and wildlife sightings free of crowds. On your day off, you can also visit the town of West Yellowstone, which has many local restaurants, shops, and an IMAX theater. One of West Yellowstone’s most popular attractions, The Grizzly Wolf Discovery Center, is a nature reserve that rehabilitates bears and wolves, which the kids are sure to love.
