Very beautiful quaint location!

Marian gave us all the info needed before our stay and it was a fantastic trip! The location and accommodations in the apartment were great. The bed is very large and cozy! I love love love the decor inside. The cove access is a nice perk. The staff is also very sweet! 10/10 recommend staying at Chrisanns.

Idyllic, beautiful property.

Owner was very responsive. Property was true to photos. Housekeeper/Cook was a great support regarding local amenities and services! Truly a little slice of heaven. Quiet, clean and convienent to grocery, restaurants and Ocho Rios attractions.

It was disappointing stay

There are no beaches close by (Reggae Beach is closed), the property is run down (roof tiles falling off on the parking lot), despite being for adults only there were at least 6 kids screaming and wining in the pool when arrived and teenagers until 10:00 in there too, cockroaches in the condo. The swimming area requires to wear water shoes, rocks and pebbles bottom. Fortunately we had a car to visit other beaches and to go to Ocho Rios.

Sweet Apartment

We found this apartment and it's view to be very nice! You're right up front in this small condo complex with a clean pool, grotto and ocean beyond. It's an eyeful of soothing blue water. The condo itself is done in colorful Jamaican colors and the walls are covered in local artwork. The only concern to pass on is that the road out front is heavily travelled and a not really walkable. Prepare to taxi to most places. Condo security will call you a ride, if needed.

Relaxing

We enjoyed our three day stay at the Beachfront Condo; it was very relaxing. The condo is located a few miles out of Ocho Rios which turned out to be perfect. We wanted to stay somewhere where we could cook and the condo was fully stocked with all the pots, pans, etc that we would need. (We also ate across the street.) The condo is comfy and homey. The stairs are narrow to get upstairs to the bedroom but the king size bed was extremly comfortable. The only problem we encountered was with the internet connection and insect bites. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful that I would recommend family and friends stay here.

Beautiful, safe and serene.

The apartment was everything we desired and more. Set in beautiful and well-tended grounds with a lovely little private cove for swimming, it was close enough to Ocho Rios (15-20 minutes) by car and yet far enough away from the noise, hustle & bustle of that town. The apartment itself is well-equipped and tastefully furnished; the small supermarket across the road had everything we needed to make meals. I was fortunate in having relatives close by who could drive us around, but taxis are easily available if you don't want to rent a car. Our host, Marian, was extremely helpful and so was Simone, the housekeeper. I'm a native Jamaican who has been living abroad for some time. I've revisited the island often and stayed in many places there, and this is now among my favorites. I hope to return to this lovely spot.

Chrisanns Beach Resort is...

Chrisanns Beach Resort is situated in a beautiful part of the north coast, not far from Ocho Rios center where transport is easily accessible if you have no desire to drive. The apartment is a beautiful bright and cosy place, perfect for couples who are looking for peace and tranquility. The beach is a plus : calm, quiet and gives the impression that you're alone in the world. Everything is clean and well taken care of. The staff are polite, respectful and friendly. There are lots of beautiful sites around the area like White River where the scenery is just like a postcard. There are 2 restaurants in front of the resort which serves delicious jamaican cuisine and more traditional european dishes if desired. We would recommend this place to all who wish to have a great vacation without stress. We would not hesitate to take this apartment next year if available.

Our 3rd stay at Chrisanns

We are Merrick and Malika from Paris. We came back to Chrisanns for the 3rd time because it's a place where you can be at peace. Surroundings are idyllic. The view from the reception is just breathtaking, the sea is awesome. the garden is full of coconut trees, palm trees, and other wonderful tropical vegetation like aloe vera. When you're sat on the gazebo, you have a complete view of the caribbean sea and the coast line. The staff are very nice and helpful. The resort is well maintained : the pool and the sea are clean, the garden also. Regarding the apartment, it's beautiful, colourful, and clean. Everything is there to make sure you have a wonderful stay. Actually, you feel like you're at home with the added bonus of the sun and the sea. We would recommend a stay at Chrisanns apartment 10 to anyone who's looking for a little piece of paradise.

Wonderful amenities and staff!

I booked Apt. 10 at Chrisann's as a surprise for my husband's birthday and was thrilled with the accommodations and staff. The apartment was fully stocked with games, books, ironing board, blow dryer, beach towels and even snorkeling gear! The kitchen had everything you need to prepare great meals and we were even welcomed with a gift bag that contained some specialty items (including a bar of soap which I had forgotten at home!) Cathy did a marvelous job of tending to our needs and immaculately cleaned the apartment every day and we felt very pampered. The apt. owner's recommendation of Glenn's Restaurant across the street was fantastic, great authentic food and service, along with the Jerk Center within walking distance. We rented a car but staff will arrange for anything you want, fresh fish, lobster, taxi's, specific items from the store, and they even set up a couple of tables for our large Chrisann's group to have dinner by the pool one night. Our TV in Apt. 10 even had the NFL playoff games on while our friends in other apartments didn't have access so we really appreciated that taste of home too. We plan on returning to Chrisann's on a more frequent basis and will definitely request Apt.10!

Wonderful

We have a 10 year old son with high-functioning autism/Aspergers. It was therefore important to us to find a peaceful place to use as a home base... somewhere to relax, cook our own food, watch familiar TV programs and return to familiar routines in the evening after our daily adventures. This apartment was perfect for our needs. It had everything we needed including nice touches like masks, snorkels, and thick towels. We were perfectly comfortable. We slept well. The bed in the loft is particularly comfortable. The apartment is located with a small complex called Chrisann's, which has about 30 units. It also has a lovely little beach sheltered by a breakwater and a small, well-maintained pool. Our son loved climbing the rocks to look for hermit crabs, snails, and colourful rocks. We loved being able to take a dip in the pool, the ocean, or both whenever we felt hot. Chrisann's has a small staff that are responsible for cleaning the units, keeping the grounds neat, and providing gate security. All of them were patient and kind with my son. We felt safe and happy there. Marian provided great information to make our Jamaican experience as smooth as possible. She was also very responsive to our e-mails. We will miss Chrisann's, and apartment 10, very much.

Lovely Condo...but local problems are an issue.

This condo and resort are very pretty, the unit is well stocked, and resort staff are very friendly. The pictures listed represent this condo well and we really loved the house-keeping staff! The resort is well secured and a guard does watch the gate and lot - though friends of ours had something taken from their rental car (unlocked). The AC works very well in the condo, the equipment all works except that the remote for the DVD is broken and needs to be replaced. The weather was beautiful and the resort grounds were immaculately maintained by staff. And taking advantage of the rental cell phone was a big help during our stay. However during our 8 day stay, the water was out one day, the power off for another day, and the internet only worked 1 day out of our entire stay. The Chrisanns resort internet also was very difficult to access meaning that we and other guests had to grab an internet signal from Glens Restaurant across the road even though we advised staff of these issues. After pre-booking them, the bus company Tropical Tours suddenly refused to come pick us up at Chrisanns to take us back to the airport so we had to take a taxi in to town to catch their bus. Since renting a car is problematic for those of us used to driving on the right side of the road (our friends got in an accident), I would recommend that people renting this suite plan their entire stay out with excursions before hand so that you don't end up with "cabin fever." Staying at the condo is no problem though since the grocery/liquor store and Glens Restaurant are right across the street, the pool is nice, and the ocean is just a few steps further away. I did swim out to the ocean and snorkled every day and saw fish of all types, colors, and sizes. Entrance to the ocean is dicey though when you have to swim through the rock barrier. Taxi prices were high and all service type people outside the condo are demanding tips. We took a trip to Glistening Waters (amazing by the way) and the negotiated taxi fair with tip came to 120 US$ - and I am not sure there is a way around those prices. The grocery store is well stocked but does not have a lot of fresh vegetables - yet it does provide a currency exchange service from US$ to Jamaican. ATM is a taxi ride away - so bring a lot of cash remembering that the exchange rate is 90 or 100$ Jamaican to every 1$ USD. So while Jamaica is lovely and Chrisanns is a pretty & sweet little resort, we are not sure we would come back.

Best time yet in Jamaica!

My husband and I stayed here from January 2, 2011-January 6. This is our 3rd trip to Jamaica and have previously stayed at Sandals in Montego Bay. After staying here, we will never go back to a resort! We had everything we needed in the apartment. There are 2 grocery stores across the street that have what you need to cook in your apartment. There are also 2 restaurants across the street too that are moderately priced and very convenient! The size of the apartment was more than enough for the 2 of us. There was a nice living space, bathroom, and kitchen downstairs. The living space leads right to the balcony. We had our friends over from the area and the 7 of us had enough space to sit together, drink some Red Stripes and play dominoes and pass ron' donkey. The views from anywhere at the building are just amazing. Unfortunately, when we visited there was a "cold" front that made sun tanning and snorkeling not a viable option for us, but we had a great time swimming/body surfing and watching the waves crash against the rocks! For $2 U.S. we took a taxi into downtown Ocho Rios a few times. If you go downtown, eat at Captain's--yum! And if you take a taxi, just hop in one and pay them once you get there. From the apartment to downtown it is $100 JA...so if you give $3 US that is more than enough! They will not question you or ask you for more. The taxi driver's can easily spot a tourist...asking for $1000 JA for that ride! If you walk out of the gates and turn left, there is a small beach area that we really enjoyed. We ran into only one other visitor there. There's a couple of fishermen that work/live on that beach area but they did not hassle us or anything--they were super friendly. We paid $100 at the airport at the Tropical Tours desk for roundtrip transportation to and from the apartment. It was a very long ride because we were the last stop, but it was also a very beautiful, scenic ride! Word of caution: Just before you get into the Ocho Rios downtown area, the bus stops at a bar and they invite you to get a beer and stretch your legs. DO NOT GET A BEER! They charge you $4 per Red Stripe and $8 per mixed drink! (You should pay $2 per beer and maybe $5 per mixed drink.) If you book here, Marian, the owner, provides you with lots of information and is very quick to respond to any emails you send her. We highly recommend staying at this apartment--you will be very happy!

Chrissans is an amazing place. We enjoyed snorkeling and the pool was awesome. Loved exploring the local area and met so many nice people. We spent time in a local pottery shop talking with the potter Delbert who had beautiful wares at factory prices. We also discovered a hidden restaurant 1/2 mile east just past the high school that has excellent food at excellent prices called El Pablo’s. Jodian, the house keeper took excellent care of us. All this and more made our stay here a vacation to remember. Thank you, Mark and Joan

This was a very clean and well managed property. The owner provides a lot of various resources to help you make the most of your stay. Having the use of the cell phone is extremely helpful.

Hermoso departamento!!

El departamento está muy bien puesto, con detalles adorables y cuidado con amor. Vimos películas, cocinamos, hicimos snorkel, era como estar en casa con un paisaje mucho más lindo, por supuesto! Me pareció un poco lejano del centro. Pero si lo que buscan es descansar y disfrutar de la pileta es ideal!

Lovely relaxing vacation

We really enjoyed staying at Marian's place. It is clean and comfortable, and the staff, and Marian's recommendations for other people--especially Kristy's taxi service--were great. Cathy made us a great meal of curried chicken and rice and beans. We would have had her cooked more. We liked the location very much--we thought of renting a car but decided we didn't need one. Glenn's across the street was a good place for any meal. Not much of a beach at this place but you can easily walk to Bamboo (previously Reggae Beach) Beach. Take a route taxi to Moxon's just to the east, which has stunning views and good restaurant and snorkeling. Walk to the spa at Couples Tower Island resort nearby for a very luxurious massage (we got a day pass for there too which is pricey at $100 per person, but lots of free food, drinks and activities for the price). Best of all Toscanini is right down the road. We explored outside of the immediate area a little bit, but mostly stayed in the neighborhood nearby. We were happy with our choice to stay in this modest but very comfortable accommodation, and spend money going out.

Nice getaway

My visit was wonderful. We really had a nice and relaxing stay. The resort was safe and clean, the staff was friendly and cooperative (the housekeeper Charmaine was always reliable and helpful), and provided attractive and stress-free accommodations. The private beach can only be described as a small piece of paradise. Also, the owner was very helpful in providing information about transportation, etc. I will be back.

Awesome stay!

My wife and I stayed at Chrisanns Beach Resort for our honey moon. We lodged in room 10 and we have to say, it was a really nice room!!! It was not the biggest room but the arrangement made it very spacious. It was very cute and felt like a home away from home with practically everything we needed being in place. Everything from a fully equipped kitchen to board games, beach towels, cable tv, a mini balcony, hot water, air conditioning and even diving goggles. The staff was courteous and housekeeping did a good job of making sure things were in order and over all the entire experience was good value for our money.

Perfect compromise between hustle of Ocho and secluded cottages far away from good stuff.

We chose this condo for a week's holiday in Jamaica. Although we considered a few places in Ocho Rios (and elsewhere on the North coast), most seemed to promise to be too noisy. Other possible rentals were secluded, but not close to anything particularly interesting. This condo is close enough to Ocho, Dunn's, etc., and also has restaurants and a grocery store as well as Reggae Beach within walking distance. The condo's pool and sheltered cove mini-beach may not match those of the big all-inclusives, but are adequate and user friendly. The host Marian and the housekeepers are very helpful and available. Condo has extras such as cable TV, WiFi, games, books, snorkel gear, kitchen utensils. It is beautifully decorated and very clean and neat. You can manage without a rental car though, if you can adjust to left side driving, a car makes things easier.

I was born and grew up in Jamaica, just 30 miles away from Chrisanns Beach Resort. My childhood memories are filled with visits to the beaches on Jamaica's north coast. I've been living in New York City since 1998, working in public relations in the non profit sector, and more recently as a college professor. I also make jewelry and quilts, and sell these at craft fairs around New York City. I visit Jamaica several times each year and spend part of my vacations at the beach while I'm there. My Apartment 10 at Chrisanns Beach Resort is now my creative retreat from the hustle and bustle of New York City.

This location is very convenient for many activities. Chrisanns Beach Resort is an ideal haven if you want to get away from the big resort hotels and enjoy the calmer, more mellow side of Jamaica. I love the beach, and Chrisanns has its own private cove where you can swim in the sheltered area or venture further out to the deeper sections of the sea. The countryside surrounding Chrisanns Beach Resort has some of the most beautiful vegetation, beaches and rivers on Jamaica's north coast. Chrisanns Beach Resort is also near to many attractions and is an easy 90 minute ride from the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, along the North Coast Highway that has awesome views of the Caribbean Sea.

The sunsets from the beach are to die for. The breezes that you'll experience if you're on the beach or in the gazebo overlooking the sea are calming and refreshing. When you're sitting on the balcony of Apartment 10, you can see the sea, and hear the waves all day and night. Having a housekeeper who can cook for you is a real benefit, as she can prepare Jamaican dishes if you wish. Apartment 10 has access to a wide variety of free cable channels, and there's a range of classic DVDs you can watch on the DVD player. It's like having Netflix without the fees. If you can't do without the Internet, no worries, as Apartment 10 has free WiFi .
