This was a great place to stay. Very clean .My granddaughter really enjoyed the fishing and peddle boat. Wish it had two bathrooms but we managed.would recommend to anyone who wants to enjoy the UP

We had some minor issues, but Leslie did an amazing job at reaching out and rectifying the issues. The house was adorable and filled with everything we needed and then some.I would highly recommend this quaint cottage.

The Great Escape is a truly wonderful Up North cabin that is in immaculate condition and fully stocked with everything needed for a great beach vacation! There are so many personal touches throughout the cabin that really set it apart from other places we have stayed. The location is unbeatable with short path to the beach and unrivaled rock hunting, Adirondak chairs are at a nice halfway spot that was appreciated on windy days, and enjoyed morning coffee and reading in the sun on the deck chairs as well! Perfect spot to unwind and enjoy everything Grand Marias and Lake Superior have to offer!

Perfect getaway

Great location, the beach was beautiful, and the cottage couldn't have been more perfect! We enjoyed 2 warm spring days exploring the area and will definitely be back!

We had a wonderful time at this cozy beachside cabin. It was the perfect quiet spot for a relaxing getaway, and being right on the water made it extra special. We enjoyed playing in the waves and searching for interesting rocks along the shore—finding some yooperlites was a real highlight! If you’re looking for a peaceful place to unwind by the beach, this cabin is a great choice.

Grand Marais cottage

We had a chilly, rainy 2 days in Grand Marais, but the cottage was great. Comfortable, warm, clean. It had everything we needed and the location perfect - as close to Lake Superior as you want to be! We enjoyed our time there.

Great get away to rewind and relax. Wife worked on a puzzle while I polished rocks. Cell service was OK for us. Little ways to walk to beach, so plan your trip. Just a great location.

We loved our stay in Grand Marais. The cottage was the perfect size for our family of three — cozy, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen is small, but it had all the essentials, so cooking was easy.The walk to the beach was a bit longer than we expected, but once you get there, it’s absolutely worth it. One thing to note: there are a few other cottages closer to the property than the listing photos suggest. I’d recommend checking Google Maps ahead of time to make sure the proximity works for you.We did experience a power outage during our stay. I reached out to the host but didn’t receive a response, which was frustrating in the moment.Grand Marais itself is a great little town with good food options and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Overall, we enjoyed our trip and the cottage worked well for us — just a few things to be aware of before booking.

Beautiful

We enjoyed The Great Escape and can't wait to return sometime. The cabin, the location... was perfect. My only suggestion is that the second bedroom mattress should be replaced.

WOW!Outside is a beautiful sandy walk to the gorgeous shore of Lake Superior. Perfect for Kite flying, wonderfully brisk swims, rock hunting, the view is amazing!!! Fire pit halfway to Superior in a perfect little depression between the dunes. We ran out of Marshmallows and had to restock!!Inside are wonderful clean beds, great little bathroom with a super cool rock floor shower. Perfect kitchen for small or larger meals. We fed five adults around a wonderful table with perfect bench seating. Loved all the books and the decor in the Great Escape! We are ready to book again for next year. Thank you SO MUCH for opening your home to us for a week!

Birthday weekend

Nice house, lots of games and books to use. The house is about 150 yards from the water. Also, I didn't notice on the listing, but there is no TV. Cell service is spotty at times. Overall, great weekend to disconnect and reconnect.

Great getaway

Overall we loved our stay at the cabin. Having 6 people in the cabin made the single bathroom tough at times, but we made it work. I wish the water was a little closer as my mother has a hard time walking and couldn’t use the path to the beach, but t was beautiful. The children loved the loft and the kitchen was put to use to make breakfast every morning. Getting re-used to no TV and wi-fi was interesting at times, but we made it work and enjoyed spending time with each other like we did back before we had wi-fi and a TV everywhere. Minor issue was at night what appeared to be 100+ gnats on the bathroom ceiling (May have been due to having bathroom window opened slightly to allow steam from showers out, and the bathroom floor got wet twice which appeared to be from moisture coming from under the sink. Those may want to be looked into, but besides that we would highly recommend for anyone who wants to “unplug” and enjoy all Grand Marais has to offer! :)

Pros: Cute and cozy for small group. Convenient location. Nice deck to sort and wash rocks. Cons: Cottage not cleaned from previous renter due to miscommunications on their end. But cleaner came and offered fee refund. Outdated furnishings and walk to beach longer than expected.

Beautiful & Relaxing

Perfect place for unplugging from unnecessary distractions! It was peaceful and relaxing. Loved the Grand Marais Outfitters shop just on the edge of town too!
