We’re excited to offer Kin House, a secluded and convenient, spacious 2,600 sq ft getaway for groups of friends and families - all are welcome to enjoy our beautiful property. It's the perfect retreat to disconnect and recharge. Enjoy the fully stocked kitchen, coffee bar, serene yard and porch, hot tub, and thoughtful amenities, and the best outdoor attractions, towns, farms, & restaurants all mins away.

The space
The 2 acres of property is close to hiking and restaurants and less than 2 hours from NYC. A hot tub, BBQ, fire pit, large deck, outdoor dining set and picnic table, indoor wood-burning fireplace, are just some of the amenities that await you.

The best hiking and biking in Hudson Valley, Minnewaska, Mohonk, The Gunks, and Rail Trail Kerhonkson are minutes away.

Kin House is the perfect peaceful home base from which to easily visit the best Hudson Valley towns - New Paltz and Stone Ridge (15-20 mins) and Saugerties, Kingston, and Woodstock (45 mins). There are so many places to visit that are a gorgeous and short 5-20 min drive.

Kin House sits in the middle of a dead-end - so you'll enjoy peace and privacy, with a very limited number of cars passing by.

Looking to do lots of home cooking? Kin House provides all the basics (oil, salt & pepper, etc) and cooking tools (great knives, pots, and pans) you might need. Plus there are tons of local markets with fresh, local, and organic produce, meat, and dairy products.

Love a hot tub? Our outdoor hot tub fits 6 people and even has built-in cup holders. It's conveniently located steps from the back porch.

Have pets / dogs you want to bring? We provide: a crate, 3 ceramic bowls, a couch cover for each couch, pet specific towels, and a fence for the deck. We allow up to 4 pets. It is $50 per pet per night up to $200 per pet max (for example, if you have one pet and stay 5 nights it will only be $200).

Have kids or teens? We have games and fun activities for a range of kids (and adults!). We also provide a pack and play. Kin House is the perfect family retreat.

Into fitness? We have a dedicated ~200 sq ft gym room complete with gym flooring, yoga and workout mats, free weights from 3-30 lbs, and more.

Gone green? We have a NEMA 1450 electric vehicle charger, a super-fast EV charger serving up 35 miles an hour, and have made other thoughtful choices to make Kin House a sustainable short-term rental.

Worried you might forget things? Less than 10 minutes away is a Stewart’s grocery store and a Wal-Mart Super Center open daily 6am-11pm. Enjoy being surrounded by nature, along with everything you might need just a short distance away.

Looking for a work-cation? Our house has desks in 3 of the bedrooms plus a dedicated "zoom room" and fast wifi. Send emails from the porch while you BBQ lunch or take conference calls from the balcony while you drink your morning coffee.

Going skiing? Kin House is nearby both Holiday Mountain (~30 mins) and Hunter Mountain (~50) and is the perfect post-ski day retreat for groups.

During your stay, the entire home and property are all yours. There is parking for up to 6 cars. Relax and enjoy!
Other things to note
+ Kids are welcome, but the house is not childproofed. There are easy to use gates blocking each staircase. If you have any questions, shoot us a message
+ There are no TVs in the bedrooms (but there is a large TV in the living room and the den). This is a purposeful choice.
+ Guests are responsible for taking out trash to our trash receptacle.
+ Kin House is in the woods, and there are bugs outside, and occasionally inside.
+ The summer gets buggy - bring bug spray (we don’t provide)
+ We provide starter items including toilet paper, soap, trash bags, detergent, and cleaning supplies, but guests are responsible for purchasing additional if needed.
+ Any firewood, food or drinks in our photos are just for show - they are not provided with your stay.

The property was lovely, however, upon arrival the cleaner was still there, there were llarge boxes in the outside doorway, the ground floor yellow bedroom had a strong pet odor which we believed to be a cat since someonoe is allergic and instantly caught a reaction. This made this bedroom off limits which messed with our sleeping arrangements. The hottub was dirty with a green film although it was covered. It was ashame that these minor details were over looked since that was two of the reasons we had chosen this property to stay at - enough space for everyone to be comfortable to sleep and we had intended to use the hot tub. Unfortunately those two details were major and that is the reason for the low rating because the property itself is very lovely and would have been great for us to catch some content but we were disappointed. I also want to mention that an outside source is used to collect the funds not VRBO so you can not use any key cash on this property which is also a disappointment wish that was also disclosed by VRBO prior to booking.

Great weekend stay at Kin House

My family had a great time at Kin House celebrating my sister's graduation from SUNY New Paltz! The location was great and the house was perfect for our multi-generation group! We enjoyed cooking at home, but also had a great time with delicious food at Rough Brewing and Mill & Main! We loved the nearby hike to Stony Kill Falls as well as all the hiking options at Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk. Thank you!

Great weekend visit even with the rain

Kin House was a great place to relax and enjoy the family. The bedroom setup was perfect. The hot tub was a bonus! We did a nice hike nearby in Minnewaska but the weather kept us in most of the weekend.

We had a marvelous time at Kin House. Very clean/modern/well-equipped. We enjoyed grilling and playing games on the deck, relaxing in the hot tub, and hiking at the state park and Mohonk preserve nearby. Lovely.

A Great Family Group Vacation

We had nine people and loved the place. Lots of nice welcoming touches (including everything needed for s'mores) and very comfortable space, with plenty of hiking trails nearby. The fire pit and hot tub were appreciated by all.

Very comfortable and clean house, great for families

We had an awesome weekend at Kin House. The house was super clean and had everything we could need, and more. A fully stocked kitchen, hot tub, fire pit, and a bunch of extras, like fixings for s’mores, fresh coffee, and more. Three king beds, all super comfortable. Board games, TVs with Roku, and lots of couches. We stayed with our kids and dog, and another family. The house was perfect. Thanks Emily!

Perfect Getaway!

Our group had an amazing time! The house was perfect so chilling, cooking a big family style meal, playing games and everyone had their own bedroom! Also so close to lots of activities near by. We hiked, went out to dinner, and hit up a few wineries and cideries. We felt so comfortable with plenty of space and clean rooms/bathrooms. The hot tub was a big hit as was the grill! Can't wait to come back in the fall.

Weekend getaway

My colleagues and I decided to go for a weekend getaway and Emily's property is so convenient to get to our point of interests such as Lake Minnewaska. The property is beautiful and we all love the fire pit to make smores with! Communication is prompt and would definitely recommend to book this property!

Kin House Was Perfect!

The photos really don't do justice to this place. If you want clean, tranquil, spacious, relaxing and fun - this is for you. After the long drive, we were happy to find the house stocked with coffee, teas, creamers, and even "fixings" for homemade s'mores. We lucked-out to get a reservation during leaf-peeping season since it fills up fast. The Minnewaska and Shawangunk area HAS to be the ABSOLUTE BEST place to enjoy the autumn colors! STUNNING! Emily recommended many good restaurants. The sandwiches and salads at Cohen's bakery in nearby Ellenville were excellent and affordable - possibly the best we've had. Our vacation "agenda" included hiking the Table Rocks trail in Minnewaska (make sure to stop at the huge pagoda near the parking lot for 180+ degree view of the mountains) followed by late lunch at Ollie's Pizza (try the "Pepper Party" sandwich!). When we got back to Kin House, we had a long soak in the hot tub, wine and cheese by the firepit, and stargazed in the covered top floor outdoor alcove (where we also enjoyed morning coffee). We really like a place that has as much to do inside as it does outside (in case the weather doesn't cooperate); Kin House has a wood burning fire stove, multiple rooms with overstuffed sofas, for reading, movies, talking etc. A nice selection of books, some craft supplies and workout equipment were available too. We didn't get a chance to use the outdoor grill, hammock and sofas on the huge deck, but hope to return in the summer!

Great escape from the city for a family with a 1-year-old

We are from Florida and vacationed in New York for 8 days. Breaking up the trip for a few nights upstate was was the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of New York City. The house had all the amenities we could ask for including supplies to help care for our 1 year old daughter. The kitchen was fully stocked and I enjoyed grilling on the back porch. Thank you to Emily for being an amazing host and providing inside tips on restaurants and activities in the area. We will be returning soon.

The Perfect Get Away

This house was perfect! It had all of the amenities that you would need. All of the details from the s'mores bar to the most comfortable beds to the wireless charging for your phones at the bedside, EVERY detail is perfect. Everything has a quality look and feel to it, no corners cut. Lake Minnewaska was only a10 minute drive away for all the hiking and swimming one can need. The view on the drive from Lake Minnewaska to Kin house is amazing. If we had questions Emily was responsive within minutes via text. Emily and team do it right, you can't go wrong staying here. Its a beautiful house and I would definitely recommend staying here!

Family Fun!

Rented this house for a family get together while the kids are on summer vacation and it did not disappoint! More than enough sleeping space, bathrooms, and common area space for adults and kids ranging from ages 4 to 11. The kitchen and dining area were great for family meals, and we used the deck/grill for a nice summer bbq too! And having the workout equipment downstairs to work off those meals was a welcome addition! We definitely made use of the yard to burn some of the kids' energy, made Smores in the fire pit, and used the hot tub to relax after some long days. Emily made some awesome recommendations of things to do with the kids locally and we took advantage of those -- a great farm and hiking places with amazing view just a few minutes away! She also recommended a few local vineyards that had plenty of space and fun stuff to keep the kids happy while the parents relaxed with some beverages. We will definitely stay here again. The area was great for a summer getaway and the house was an awesome place to catch up with our "kin"! :)

Great memories - we will be back!

My friends had an incredible stay here - don’t hesitate to book this place if you can. The house has it all - they provide so many amenities and thoughtful touches - we loved the BBQ and deck. It’s so close to so many great local restaurants- Arrowood, Inness, Stone House Tavern, Westwind Orchard, Mill & Main. There’s so much we didn’t have time to see and do, we will be back!

Family Get Away - We Loved it!

This was our favorite vacation rental stay yet. We spent the weekend with our family (8 total), and it was perfect. Awesome Home

Had an amazing stay at Kin House. The home is beautiful and comfortable. It has some personality to it, with tons of things to pique your curiosity as well as some seriously nice features and amenities. The location is beautiful, quiet, and close to lots of outdoor attractions. The host was so kind and helpful. We really loved this place and would definitely come back!

Relaxing mountain stay

We appreciated so much the proximity of the Kin House to Minnewaska State Park! It literally was five minutes away. We enjoyed using the hot tub after a chilly day outdoors, and we appreciated the comfortable king bed and the modern kitchen. While the Kin House is in a quiet residential neighborhood, it is on the edge of wilderness. A wild turkey meandered by one day, and a black bear passed in front of our car during our travels. Even so, it is also close to breweries and eateries. Emily was very responsive and helpful during the booking process.

Perfect House and location!

This house was everything we could’ve wanted! Super clean, in a nice wooded area with a beautiful yard, terrace and deck, working fireplace indoors, awesome fire pit out back, great big couch for hanging out, comfortable bedrooms, spacious kitchen and dining area, hot tub, full home gym, tvs, a keyboard/guitar and games! It was also very close to several great hikes that we did each day, that were easy to find and fun! Found great restaurants nearby also (and coffee!). Host was very communicative and had tons of recommendations for us. 10/10 would recommend.

— Sleeping Arrangements - Lots of Privacy! —
There are 6 bedrooms, 3 kings, 2 queens and 1 full sized futon. Two on the 1st floor, one on the 2nd, and three on the 3rd floor with a room and bathroom in between them.

In the green room there is a chair that unfolds into a small bed that’s good for a kid / teen.

We provide full sheets that can be used for the futon, green room chair, or they can be used to sleep on the couch in the den, which is quite large.
