Very nice and comfortable place to stay. The basket of snacks and coffee packets was a nice touch! Good location to hit several wineries and a quick walk to the bourbon bar!

Very nice set up. Close to the bourbon bar and Alto Winery, which was very cool. The beds need a upgrade but they were ok, everything else was great.

This was such a lovely place to stay that we truly hope to return again someday. The hot tub was actually "hot" and the private outdoor space is nice with color changing lights and a firepit/grill available. There was a welcome snack basket when we arrived and the kitchen had everything you needed, including a stocked spice rack. Beds were comfortable and the air conditioning and Wi-Fi worked well. It's located on a quiet street off the main road. There is a small convenience store nearby and one restaurant with limited operating hours/days. We were able to visit wineries, orchards, and do some hiking in the area. The only downside of this location is that the surrounding area does not have many restaurants and many restaurants/wineries have their day off Monday/Tuesday. Regardless, we had a wonderful stay and would gladly return!

This property is great! We had such a fun time staying here for a short getaway weekend. The place was spotless and comfortable. The amenities were perfect, and the owner was both very responsive and pleasant to communicate with. And definitely check out the bourbon bar across the street!

Great place, close to most things. Very clean and had a fully stocked kitchen. Could have used a throw blanket, but otherwise everything we needed. There were no check out procedures listed anywhere, so it would be nice to have that visible in the house.

Great Place to Stay

We were in the area for a wine tasting event and found the Alto Pass Wine Trail Loft to be the perfect place to stay. The rental was comfortable and well equipped and the location was perfect.

Absolutely perfect! The place is spacious, clean, stylish, comfy and classy! We are already planning a return! We visited Owl Creek, Also Pass and Von Jakob wineries, Flam's orchard and Alto Clay Works all so very close! I recommend hitting all those spots! The bar across the street looked very nice but we ran out if time and saved it for the next time! Don't hesitate to book this gem!

Really enjoyed this rental! Plenty of space for the 2 of us, great location for the wine trail, really enjoyed the hot tub. Space was updated and well stocked, very clean. Would recommend this to a couple or small family looking for a rental in this part of the state.

Great rental! Clean, well stocked, the kind of place that is even nicer than the pictures. If you want to visit the Shawnee Forest for hiking, wine tasting, or need a place near SIU, this is a great choice

Great place!

Property manager was very communicative when we had something come up last minute. Excellent customer service! Property was very clean, and well decorated. Several locations for food are very close, at least 1-2 in walking distance with good food.

Nice rental

We were visiting family. Enjoyed the stay. It was clean and kitchen was well stocked. Beds were just ok. We are in our 60ies and would have like higher, softer beds. All around a nice place to stay.

Great stay in Alto Pass!

We had a great stay and the property exceeded our expectations! The hot tub and fire pit are great, beds are comfortable, little extras like a snack basket and toiletries were a nice surprise, plus the location is ideal. Easy to get to hiking, wineries and restaurants! So relaxing and the perfect weekend getaway!

Lovely base for exploring the area

This place, #5, has everything you need! A stocked kitchen and a patio with hot tub and propane fire pit are bonuses! 2 bedrooms (to note that the french doors don't seal off completely or lock). There are fluffy towels and a lovely shower head in the bathroom. This is a great place to enjoy your down

My brother and I grew up in Southern Illinois, and could not wait to 'Get Out,' 'Escape,' and go to the big city. I went to school in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and left Southern Illinois far behind. I thought this was great.

Both my brother and I had very successful careers. His in the IT world of Virtualization, and I in the online advertising, marketing, and market research world catering to big pharma. In a normal year, both of us would fly 125,000+ miles and see many places, countries and sites. Working with clients al over the country and beyond.

As we grew older and our 'success' continued we felt more and more that something was missing. We began to yearn for the hills of Southern Illinois, the slower pace of life, and the people we left behind more and more.

I 2013, I came home for a few weeks to help my mother move my father into a nursing home. After this was completed I flew to Milan for business, and on my way back I received a call that my mother had had a stroke. This was a life changing event for boh my brother and I, and I never really went back to Asheville, NC.

Our father spent the year getting worse, and our Mother spent the year getting better. When my father died in December of 2013, I decided to 'officially' move to Southern Illinois, and my brother to nearby Southeast Missouri in order to spend more time with our mother and be closer with family. I also made the decision to leave the company I worked for and do something simpler, and local to Southern Illinois.

June 1st, 2014 I started my company with the goal to create vacation rental homes in Southern Illinois and help the area grow tourism. Southern Illinois is a beautiful and special place, and I would like to share it with as many people as possible.

In the Summer of 2021, my brother decided to purchase a vacation rental and join me on my adventure. I now manage the day to day operations and we both work on our houses together.
