This is quite a scathing review simply because you didn’t read the property rules which clearly states there are 2 buildings that share the dock, and the provided recreational boats. Your comfort and ease at the property is important. In order to reach the comfort that you and I both expect you to have at the property, your responsibility is to read the property rules. While one might understand not seeing the property rules on the site when you booked, you missed personal messages to you on the site stating 2 buildings are on the property, missed seeing this in the rental agreement to which you stated agreement, and missed yet a 4th opportunity with the check in information sent. Yet you knew you needed to go under the other building to get things and you verbally expressed shock to me stating, “What? you own that building too?” Simple inference would have led one to that conclusion. Also included in the rental agreement and the check in information were the check out details which includes stripping the beds and leaving things as clean as you found it. All renters receive a follow up check out reminder as well, pretty standard fare in my experience as a VRBO guest. You claim the host was there when you arrived however you checked in on Monday, but the host arrived on late Tuesday afternoon to meet the young man hired to plant bushes and trees donated and delivered by the local lake association. He was only available to help for about 1 hour so considering that it’s a big property with lots of space to hang out, it is strange that you are complaining about your lack of privacy. It was helpful for you to offer to put the AC units in as I have lifting restrictions and prior to your arrival it had been a cold and rainy Spring. In turn I offered early check in 2 hours early and a late check out. The AC cools the rooms in 5 mins so it makes sense to turn it off when out fishing for the entire day. While you are not a bundle of enthusiasm nor positivity, our conversation was pleasant enough. You liked the property and the lake. I do not feel that I deserved such a scathing review due to you neglecting to read property rules and in turn having expectations the didn’t match what the property offers. But at least you caught plenty of fish!
