Lovely Water View at The Chowder House on Filucy Bay

Enjoy a beautiful marina view from the sun room, deck, living room or bedrooms. Built in 1920 but with roots dating back to 1890, The Chowder House was a hotel and restaurant before becoming a private residence in the early 2000's. With charming accents of coved ceilings and original hardwood floors, it also has huge picture windows overlooking beautiful Filucy Bay from the sunroom, dining room, living room, and both bedrooms. The main floor has a large, fully equipped kitchen with new cooktop, a dining room that seats 6, and a sun room with a sleeper-sofa and a large desk--perfect for working from home. The living room has a Smart TV where you can log into your Netflix/Hulu/Amazon or Youtube accounts, as well as a DVD player and a gas fireplace. Upstairs are both remodeled bedrooms with Queen size beds, and en-suite bathrooms-- each with a large walk-in shower, plus a study area with a full-size futon and desk overlooking Filucy Bay. The south bedroom has it's own small deck overlooking the bay, and both bedrooms have window seats for cozy reading while watching the herons or enjoying the sunset. The house has WIFI and air conditioning. We have a 3 person hot tub outside on the deck, as well as kayaks for use on the bay. Please note there are 18 stairs to the 2nd floor that are a bit steep, and several level changes on the main floor, so accessibility is limited. There is a small stool for easier access to each pillow-top bed.

Amazing stay! Super accommodating and responsive host. Incredibly well-appointed. The pics don’t do the views justice. I’ve stated in lots of VRBOs and this was one of the most satisfying rentals I’ve had. This place would be great for couples or families.

Wonderfully supplied with the little things. That was very helpful. Maybe repair the screens so windows can be opened and maintain the yard a bit more so its more enjoyable to use. The house itself wonderfully clean and comfortable beds.

Great weekend getaway with friends

We had a lovely friend getaway to celebrate a birthday. The Chowder House was the perfect location. The hosts communicated well. Checking in and out was a breeze. The house and grounds are grand and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed lounging in the sunroom. Definitely recommend this rental.

Great house

Fantastic house with an amazing view of the water and marina. Ample space with all of the amenities you would want or need. Hot Tub and Fireplace were perfect for the fall weather.

Wonderful Get Away

What a beautiful place with lots of history. The Chowder House was the perfect place to get away. Lots of character, beautiful wood floors. The kitchen is well stocked. They also have a nice selection of games, books, and toddler toys. The view is beautiful. Not much of a beach by the house but it is only a short drive to Joemma or the State park. Be sure to bring everything you need as there are no close stores. Overall, a great place and Stephanie does a GREAT job communciating!

Peaceful Puget Sound Getaway

My husband and I and three of our adult children had a wonderful stay at the Chowder House. Although it's an historic home with the quirks that come with being over 100 years old, the house was comfortable, spacious, well equipped and offered magnificent views. It's located across from a small marina and on sunny days we could see Mt. Ranier. It's located a ways down the peninsula but not so far as to be a problem. Just far enough to get away from the bustle. Several beautiful state parks are within a 20 minute drive. The kitchen is huge and had everything we needed. Kayaking in the bay was a fun addition to our adventure. The owner replied promptly to our questions. All in all a wonderful stay.

Peaceful weekend getaway

My boyfriend and I rented this house over memorial weekend for us and our friends. We wanted something that was peaceful, close to water, and allowed us the ability to unwind. This property had everything we needed to achieve that: a grill for bbq’ing, a hot tub surrounded by beautiful greenery and outdoor lights, kayaks to take on the water, and a dock right across the road, and multiple patios to enjoy the outdoors. There were even board games, a cozy fireplace, an Roku with access to many streaming platforms, and plenty of rooms for sitting/sleeping/hanging etc. I loved how the cabinets were labeled so we could easily find what we were looking for! There were also plenty of towels, plus a washer and dryer if needed. There was plenty of space for parking, even being right of the road, there was never an issue pulling in or out of the property. We appreciated the stickers in the room to watch your head, old house charm can make for a unique layout. We will definitely be back!

Lovely property with great view.

Property was as advertised. Well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. Stephanie quickly responded to my few messages. Our only problem was the tall beds. My wife is quite short and could not manage to sleep in them even with the provided stool. She was able to sleep on the futon.

Beautiful water views

I absolutely loved this house. The views from the sun room and upstairs rooms are amazing. The kayaks were amazing with views of mount Rainer. Loved the hot tub.

Great find

The photos were accurate and place was as advertised. Beautiful view from the sunroom. We greatly enjoyed our stay and will be back. The hosts clearly put a lot of time and effort into making this a comfortable and welcoming home. The kitchen was huge and had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable but very high up. There was a stool provided but at 5'1" I still tripped getting out of bed. Overall I would not hesitate to recommend this rental for a relaxing trip.

Great vacation n remote work place we where there for a week. I had to work part of it n WiFi workspace ease excellent. Plus great view.home was perfect. Had everything we needed. Kayaks jacuzzi. Amazing House!

Our stay at the Chowder House was wonderful! The home is gorgeous with stunning views of Filucy Bay. It was immaculate and well stocked with towels, extra bedding, and kitchen supplies. There was a lovely bottle of wine waiting for us at check-in, which was a much appreciated amenity. We used one of the kayaks (double person) and life jackets to explore Filucy Bay. It was so nice to have use of them. Since the temps were in the 90's we really appreciated the AC! We highly recommend staying here and hope to visit again.

Perfect girls + kids trip!

I stayed here with my mom, sister and my sister's two kids. It was a perfect little get away for us. The house was very cute, there we some games and kids toys. It's always nice to have some different toys for the kids to play with. I loved that the light switches and cupboards were all labeled. You didn't have to hunt around to find anything.

Washington week to relax

We came up from Texas to enjoy the cooler weather of Washington and it did not disappoint. The home has a lot of character and history and we enjoyed it. The only thing we noticed was lack of yard upkeep around the place but it sure did not effect our enjoyment of the property. Very peaceful at this location and about 1 hour to get to Seattle.

We are a family of 4 Seattle Natives who love to call the Pacific Northwest our home, while also loving to travel and see the world. We have many more places to travel on our bucket lists and have found that vacation rentals make our stays more comfortable. With a daughter and a son, vacations were better for everyone when we could each have a bit of space at the end of a busy tourist-y day. We've stayed in vacation rentals all over the US, and also Canada, Ireland, Iceland, England, Italy, Greece and Scotland. We love good food and wine, hiking, swimming and boating, plus reading, museums, history and photography.

In 2020 we decided to find a vacation spot closer to home and began looking on the Key Peninsula. We spent quite a few family vacations over the years at nearby Camp Seymour and love the pristine beaches, quiet picturesque communities and getting away from it all. We saw the Chowder House on-line and fell in love with it's history, views and charm. We have already made great memories here and want to share this spot with others.

The Chowder House is across the street from the Longbranch Marina, which offers public boat moorage for a nightly fee on a first-come, first served basis. Our home is also minutes away from many local beaches, hiking and state and county parks.
