Escape to this charming one-story beachfront retreat. What’s the point of being right on the beach without plenty of outdoor space? This home offers an abundance of both covered and open-air living areas. Whether you want to dine outdoors, read a good book, take in the ocean view, or simply relax in a lounge chair, the choice is yours. A few easy steps down from the deck and you’re just moments from the water’s edge.

Inside, the home reflects the creative touch of the owner, who is an artist. The playful yet peaceful interior has an open floor plan that brings the kitchen, living, and dining spaces together in one large area. The living room features a spacious sectional that’s perfect for gathering at the end of the day to watch a movie, play games, or chat about the day’s adventures. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing meals when you choose to dine in, and there’s plenty of seating at the dining table and granite breakfast bar.

The primary bedroom includes a king-sized bed, private balcony access, and a full en suite bath. You can even watch dolphins from bed. The second and third bedrooms include a king and queen bed, respectively. The fourth bedroom has a twin-over-full bunk bed, and the owner is adding a twin trundle for additional sleeping space. These three bedrooms share a full hall bath with a tub and shower combination. A pack 'n play is available for little ones—just bring your own sheets.

If you’re traveling with a larger group, there’s another home across the street—Rolf's Crabby Daddy—that sleeps eight more and offers a beautiful view of the lagoon. Guests at either home are welcome to use the beach and lagoon access points shared between the two properties.

Location is perfect, nice short walk over the dune to the beach, near part of the house is the deck.

The house was perfect. You can walk out and you are practically on the beach.

This property is wonderful if you love privacy and being right on the beach! At night we enjoyed the spacious deck.

Beautiful spot

We had a wonderful stay! It was great to have the beach right there, and we absolutely loved the big deck. The place was very clean and well kept. There were a couple of things that could use updating/replacement, such as the lamp with electrical tape in the one bedroom, but they were small things that didn’t really bother us. Our kids loved playing football on the beach, and we liked that we were close enough to drive to a variety of restaurants. We would definitely recommend this place to others.

Easy Beach Access

Property is great. Only complaint is the AC unit needs replacing. Older heat pump unit just couldn’t cut it on two hot days. Up to 83 during day but was cooler than outside and cooled down overnight. Even that didn’t necessarily hinder our stay. Just walk the 50 yards to the water and problem solved. Not overly crowded beach area at all.

Rolf’s Retreat

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this location. The house was conveniently located and all rooms were on the main floor. We had plenty of room. It was only a few steps to the beach. It was nicely decorated suited for the beach. There were a couple of things that would have made our stay absolutely perfect. The refrigerator/freezer had a seafood smell that we couldn’t get rid of with baking soda and cleaning. Also it would have been nice to have a Smart TV in the master bedroom, one was in another bedroom. Other than those things, we had a wonderful time. We look forward to going again. Thanks, Lori B

Great Location and Back Deck

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We travel to G.S. each year for a family trip with Aunts and Uncles. The back deck being shaded was a great feature for the older adults. The close walk through the sand to the water was also a plus. We did book in July and struggled to keep the house cool. I don't know if it's an undersized unit or too much heat outside. We had too use box fans to make it through the night. Overall the family loved the house but unless the AC is addressed, we will find another location.

Lovely stay at Gulf Shores

Rulfs Retreat is a lovely beach house. Older and in need of some updates, but overall it is a great place to beach! It is well stocked, but no extras like condiments, spices, etc. Make sure you bring everything you will need to cook as well as extra TP. The view is beautiful and the beach is quiet. Just a few oil rigs off to the left but they don't ruin the view at all. The sun and shade deck are the best part. Spacious and provides perfect shade to spend the day watching the water. We did have a few people walk through the property to access the beach, which we didn't really like, but the beach is big enough for everyone. The house was clean and everything was pretty much as pictured. We would like to return for another stay next year!

I would not recommend this property as they allow strangers to walk under the home.

Our privacy and security was taken away as we had to lock and remove our valuables daily since strangers were waking under the property and up the beach path. Our dinners on the porch were interrupted many times as strangers were walking up the private path feet away from the porch. We were very uncomfortable with people carrying beach items directly next to our vehicles risking the scratches and damages. One night we were trying to grill below the property and we experienced extreme discomfort when our privacy was invaded multiple times. Overall we had the privacy of a condo experience for private house price. The owners advertise and allow the renters from across the street to “share” the private beach experience.

Absolutely wonderful beautiful place!

Beds were comfortable the deck was very nice! Even in the rain the covered part of the deck gave us a beautiful place to sit with family and have fun! Just a short steps to the beach! Was absolutely amazing stay!

Wonderful Spot

We came here with family for a 60th birthday party and it was perfect. The house is rustic but clean and cozy and neat. It had everything we needed and we were extremely comfortable. The outdoor space was to die for. I highly recommend this spot. We will be back.

Right on the beach!

House was great! Kitchen was well appointed as we had everything we needed. Wonderful deck to hang out and watch the sunset and waves roll in. Short and easy walk to beach.

Beautiful Property
