Secluded Cabin in the Beautiful Black Hills! Admire the Breathtaking Scenery!

We're happy to hear you enjoyed the cabin and had no issues with the property. We apologize that you had issues with the road leading to the cabin. As this is a secluded cabin in the Black Hills the road can at times present issues. We try to be completely transparent about these potential issues, which is why we sent an email immediately after you booked on Nov 1 (as we do with all guests) with the following words of caution, "our cabin is located on a road with 7 switchbacks and a moderate to steep grade.. If you are staying with us in the winter we strongly recommend 4 wheel drive. If you are towing a trailer we encourage you to go slow and use chains." You asked if a motorcycle would be able to get to the cabin & we told you we've had cyclists stay in the past & have not had an issue & didn't think it would be a problem as you would be staying in the summer. You asked if we would provide you the address so you could look up grades on a map and we obliged this request & provided the address 9 months in advance of your stay - against our typical policy. Given you had advanced warning and were doing your diligence to look into road grades we did not foresee any issue. If you would have decided to cancel your stay at this time we would have fully refunded you. On the morning after your first night at the cabin we did miss your phone call at 7:46 AM but sent you a message less than 2 hrs later at 9:31 to address the issue. We informed you that we were at work & couldn't speak over the phone at that moment but would do our best to assist you via vrbo for the time being and could call you back shortly. You informed us about the issues with the road having been freshly graveled and asked for us to scrape the road or provide you with another place to park at the bottom of the hill. We informed you that we share the road with neighbors, all of whom pay for road maintenance as well as ourselves. Adding fresh gravel to the road is essential to keep the road from washing out and is standard procedure throughout the year at various times as deemed necessary by the road maintenance crew. Thus it was not possible for us to accommodate your request to scrape the road. We did advise you of a public parking lot at the bottom of the hill that could be an option. We did not hear back from you after that message and therefore assumed you had found a solution. You then stayed an additional 5 nights after that. We did not hear back at any point with additional concerns.

Thanks for the great review Courtney! We are so glad your family enjoyed the cabin and the surrounding property! The bedroom above the garage does get a bit cold in the winter but we do keep a space heater in the room which seems to heat the room up rather quickly if you ever stay with us again and need those additional 3 beds.
