The space
You get the whole upstairs level of the house in a private space. Only the backyard would be shared with the downstairs guests, our longer-term tenants.

You get the off-street deep driveway parking and can even open the driveway gate and park all the way back!

The lower level is a mother-in-law's basement apartment and it has its own private entrance.

HOUSE RULES:
1. We do charge $25/day for a pet, added to the booking.
2. You need to know and understand that this house has a basement mother-in-law private unit below you. Like a hotel or apartment, at times, they can hear you and you can hear them. The house has been remodeled and it's so cute and comfy but as it is an older home, the floors are thinner and noise carries. It is important that you are willing to be respectful, and both upper and lower unit guests agree to follow quiet hours of 10 pm-8 am as well as just being respectful at all hours.
3) Locals must message before booking!
4) This is a self-check-in property: You certify that you are willing and able to follow the instructions that are being provided by VRBO through the house manual or check-in guide. You can find our house manual and check-in guide here on the VRBO platform on our listing.
5) Fees: There is a $200 per day fee for every day of your booking if it is found that you have been smoking on the property. There is a $50 LATE CHECKOUT FEE if you are there longer than you have been authorized. You further agree to compensate the host/co-host in full for any financial loss that is suffered as a result of breaking the rules set forth.
6) There will be a $100 per pet if an undisclosed pet is found on the premises

Love the location

Came to salt lake for a ski trip and glad we were able to stay in a spot that was close to downtown, grocery stores, and the mountains.

Thanksgiving Visit

The location was within walking distance of a few breweries and restaurants. The house was comfortable and clean in a quiet neighborhood.

WOW!

Honestly I loved the place so much! It’s exactly how it looks and the energy of the house was so clean. It does have an old house smell but it was nostalgic so I wasn’t mad at all. I definitely will be staying here! Also the hammock is so comfy

Quiet and clean

I was only at the property at night to sleep while working out of town. I was happy with the cleanliness and look of the place. It’s an old home and comes with some old home smells but nothing too bad. There were two things I requested before arriving knowing I’d be arriving late each night and unable to communicate during daytime hours. I wanted the Wi-Fi working and the place to be cool. The Wi-Fi had come unplugged so it took some time to find the router and get that plugged in and the a/c has no control available for visitors to adjust so you have to contact the owner to adjust it. I did get in touch and they did say they would have someone get it fixed but it took two days. So I went two of three nights without A/C and had to hope for the best with opening windows. I know problems happen so I gave 4 stars for these issue’s because it’s all I asked for in advance to arriving and didn’t have them for part of the stay. I’d recommend buying drinking water as it doesn’t get very cool or taste the best from the tap. Everything else looks great and functioned perfectly. Nice decor. Couch isn’t comfy but the beds are. It is roomy for the price and well cared for.

Good stay in SLC

We had a comfortable, short stay at the hartwell haven. The one downside was the unit smelled like smoke, even after opening windows to air out the space. The host was very nice and responsive, and I understand the unit is non-smoking so may be a one-off situation, but especially staying with our toddler, it did take away from our overall satisfaction. Besides that, the unit is super cute and we enjoyed our stay.

Good location

This was a centrally located place to stay - some cleanliness issues - no temp control inside the suite - when I arrived all the windows were open so I questioned whether there was air conditioning at all, but on the second day realized that there was air but turning it on required communication with the host. Host indicated they would refund some money due to cleanliness issues but did not follow through.

Cute boho getaway

The neighborhood was lovely. We enjoyed the quietness on the porch every night we stayed. There are a few things that could definitely use some updating. The touch screen door lock, we had so many issues getting it to work to let us in and to lock it when leaving. Plug ins are sparse, none in the bathroom, very few not being used in the bedrooms. If you want us to do our laundry make sure that there isn’t already laundry from the last guest waiting. OVERALL we loved our stay, the place is really cute and bohemian, and the beds were downright comfy! just could use some modernization throughout and it would be perfect!

Great place

Cool little house. Very quiet neighborhood, close enough to everything, but far enough away that it’s still quiet. Great communication from the hosts wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Decent...for the right price. Lot's to improve.

My general take: the pictures suggest the property is nicer, cleaner, and charming than in reality. But calling this place "newly renovated" or "Insta-worthy" feels like a big reach. Communication with the manager was initially solid, however, I took for granted some of the basics: Water pressure is low, sink is nearly too small to brush in, lights are hanging out of walls. If you're short, you can't reach into the dryer, etc. A few nice touches, and the kitchen is much more functional. But don't expect too much. Disappointed that the yard is unusable, (thorns, weeds, garbage, etc). If you can get this for super cheap, might be worth it. In the main living areas there are many wall and trim dings that you run the risk of being on the hook for.

Comfortable place, great location

This is a very comfy home for exploring Salt Lake City. The location is central and the home is very pleasant. I hope to stay here again. It is quiet, well appointed, and has a great view of the mountains.

Hartwell haven review

Great little place to stay outside of SLC. Went to Coco Wok as recommended by the host and it was probably my favorite resistant I went to during our stay! Will recommend that restaurant to everyone I know who goes to SLC! Only feedback is the house was pretty chilly the first two nights and there’s no direct access to a thermostat. That said, hosts were quick to let me know about space heaters that were available which made the rest of the stay great! That and SLC warmed up a bit so all was well :)

Uber/Lyft are very easy in Salt Lake City. There are several bus routes nearby too.

Old Vintage Salt Lake Home: Please be aware that the house is vintage and carries a bit of a scent. We don’t allow smoking and to our knowledge the house hasn’t been smoked in and is clear of any uncleanliness but the scent is something to be aware of.
