Snowmobile trail UP7 can be accessed just a few miles down CR 440, adding to the convenience for snowmobiling enthusiasts.
Upon entering the cabin, you'll find a well-equipped kitchen featuring a propane four-burner cook stove with an oven, a propane refrigerator, and a propane-heated water system. With all the necessary supplies at your fingertips, you can effortlessly prepare meals to satisfy your appetite after a day of adventure.

As an off-grid property, The Hideout utilizes an electricity generator, focusing on minimizing its carbon footprint. The generator powers the water pump, enabling you to enjoy hot showers, clean dishes, and a functioning toilet. Please note that generator use is limited to 5 hours per day. The simple push of a button from inside the cabin activates the generator, ensuring easy access.
To truly embrace the outdoor experience, venture to the outdoor fire pit located just a short stroll from the cabin. Roast s'mores under the starry night sky and create lasting memories with your loved ones. You can purchase bundles of wood before your stay.
The owners take great care to ensure your safety and maintain the cleanliness of the cabin. All surfaces are thoroughly sprayed with a disinfectant solution, and necessary precautions are taken to provide a safe environment for your stay.
We love dogs and know how hard it is to find a place that allows them to come on vacation with you! Potty-trained, well-behaved dogs of any size are welcome! Dogs cannot be left in the cabin unattended and are not allowed on the furniture. If you want to leave your pet in the cabin while you're out exploring, you may do so if they are in a crate.
VERY IMPORTANT TO READ BEFORE YOU BOOK:
We will leave you very clear directions on operating the cabin. We also send multiple videos before checking in to watch before arrival.
The cabin is located 2 miles off a paved road. Our road is maintained and plowed by local residents. During the winter months, it will sometimes be snow-packed, icy, slick, or unplowed. During warm months the dirt and sand road could be rocky, soupy, hard-packed, or all of these simultaneously. There may be small water crossings, and there could be loose sand or mud. All types of cars can make it to the cabin, but before booking, please consider whether you are concerned about the abilities of your car or your driving abilities on varying terrain. We can provide up-to-date road conditions before your trip if you have any concerns.
The cabin is off-grid, and the generator uses gasoline to make electricity for the water pump. There will be enough fuel to provide you with a reasonable amount of electricity to use during your stay (about 5 hours per day). The generator is only needed to power the water pump (showers/dishes/toilet). The lights, refrigerator, stove, and water heater are all powered by propane. Bring along lanterns, headlights, or flashlights to help you navigate at night. Lighters are also a good item to have in your pocket for lighting the lights. If you need to have any device that runs off electricity through the night or for long periods of time, you’ll need to bring a battery-powered solution or reach out to discuss your situation before booking.
The water comes from a drilled well and goes through a water softener system. The system has a pressure tank that is filled, so when the generator is not on, you will still have water to wash your hands, do a few dishes, and flush the potty a couple of times. You'll want to turn the generator on before jumping in the shower.
We do not have wifi. You’ll be able to unplug here, truly. Cell service is generally not available in the area. You will be able to call any number that is in the 906 area code from the landline, and you will be able to receive calls from anywhere.
All well-behaved dogs are welcome! Please help us stay dog friendly by cleaning up after your pet around the cabin.
Dogs may be off-leash if you can maintain control over your dog. This is a remote wilderness area with wild animals, and the safety of your dog and our wildlife friends is important.
Dogs may not be left inside unattended and are not allowed on the furniture. If you want to leave your pet in the cabin while you're out exploring, you may do so if they are in a crate.
The wood stove is only used by people who know how wood stoves work. No liquid flammables or trash are ever to be used in a wood stove. We provide plenty of wood for your stay. Summer is typically way too hot for a wood-burning fire inside.
Campfires are permitted as long as they are properly monitored and extinguished. Clean up your trash around the fire pit before you leave. Do NOT use cabin firewood for a campfire.
This cabin does have one nearby neighbor. Out of respect for them, please limit outdoor noise after 10 pm. No loud music is to be played outside.
Please clean all kitchen items that you use and return them to their place.
No smoking is allowed inside the cabin. A $500 smoke clean-up fee will be charged.
At the end of your stay, please put all linens and towels in the laundry bin and return all items to their original locations.
There have been sightings of coyotes, cougars, bears, turkeys, eagles, hawks, deer, horses, turtles, raccoons, squirrels, mice, and bugs of all types here...please plan accordingly and do not leave food out, or they will come to visit you.
Please only flush toilet paper and natural waste down the toilet. The system is not made to handle feminine products or trash of any type, not even flushable wipes. All food and coffee grounds should be put in the trash, and no food or grease should be put down the drains.
The owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries, or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities. We are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others they invite to use it.
