There are several restaurants in the immediate vicinity, which you can combine with a short after-dinner stroll. In winter, you’ll find plenty to enjoy on the winter hiking trails, snowshoe hikes, and the new panoramic cross-country ski trail. A sledding hill and a 1.5-km-long toboggan run with a place to stop for refreshments are practically right outside the front door. You can also use the free local bus in winter; the stop is just a 1-minute walk from the house. Services: free parking, bike storage. Amenities: free Wi-Fi. Meals: bread roll delivery service. Reit im Winkl: A Climate Resort According to Wikipedia, the designation “climate resort” is awarded to “towns whose air and climate, according to an expert assessment, possess characteristics that are beneficial for relaxation and health.” Reit im Winkl was designated a “Luftkurort” in 1956 and has consistently met the criteria for this designation ever since through its ongoing efforts. One factor is its high elevation, which ensures that summer heat is moderated and nights remain pleasantly cool. The town is surrounded by extensive mountain forests of the Chiemgau Alps and, in terms of its general climate, belongs to the “Bavarian Alps” climate region. The character of the weather is decisively determined by the local conditions—that is, by the influence of the mountain ranges and valleys on weather patterns. In addition to the natural conditions that ensure good air quality, we actively work to preserve the fresh mountain air by utilizing geothermal energy and providing ample bus service.
