Lake Longbow-10 acre STOCKED lake, 80 acres, 4-wheeler/walking trails, swimming

Lake Longbow is an 80 acre ranch with a private 10-acre lake stocked with fish. There are miles and miles of 4-wheeler/walking trails, a waterfall in the wet seasons, woods, and pasture. And we now have 4 premier lakefront RV spots with electric and water.

The house is set up for up to 16 people to either just get away from it all or to enjoy outdoorsy activities. One our favorite things to do is sit on the deck at night, looking at the lake and star gazing. We also enjoy a campfire close to the lake in the fall and winter. The house has everything you need to sleep comfortably, relax, cook meals, watch movies, and play games. In fact, we dedicated the entire basement to fun central!

Imagine yourself swimming in the lake, riding the trails, exploring, fishing, and canoeing/kayaking. There's so much to do at Lake Longbow!

The house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms on the main level, as well as a sunroom with a futon (just off the primary bedroom). The basement is the game play area and has as a bunk room and a bathroom. The bunk room has three sets of twin over full bunks, so that room alone will sleep up to 9!

We are passionate about our retreat, and we hope you enjoy it as well for years to come as we add more and more to it!

Here are local activities our guests enjoy:
Rockbridge-15 minutes away; it’s a great place for outdoor activities and fishing for Rainbow Trout. You can also enjoy hiking and dining there as well.
Byant Creek State Park-17 minutes away; with over 2,900 acres, the park features almost 2 miles of Bryant Creek frontage, large mature trees and natural formations, and 2 hiking trails.
Cane Bottom Hollow-14 minutes away; this is an awesome swimming hole in the summer
Glade Top Trail-35 minutes away; this is a 23-mile Scenic Byway named for the beautiful glades that surround the ridge tops where the Scenic Byway traverses.
Along the trail are seven overlook “pull-outs” that provide panoramic views that reach to the Springfield Plateau twenty miles to the northwest and forty miles south to the Boston Mountains in Arkansas.

It is the perfect place to escape the ordinary and to just get away from it all.

Great get away!

We had a wonderful time! Thank you for a wonderful place to stay. Everything was wonderful!! Yes I said wonderful 3 times 😉 We traveled all over the area exploring and enjoy local activities, just busy having fun. It was awesome! We were able to enjoy the lake while we watched the eclipse, very neat experience 😀 Thanks again!! If we come back to the area we will stay again!!

Charged Additional Cleaning Fee

Attention all prospective visitors, the property manager sent me a note post stay and said we had a brought a dog and that she was charging us an extra cleaning fee. This is ridiculous as we did not have a dog of any kind on property at any time. This was a group of 9 guys fishing at a local hatchery. I think this is abuse of guests that they can claim we had a pet and charge whatever they want to. I will be reaching out to VRBO and hope there is recourse against actions like this. The property allows dogs, if we wanted to bring one we would have mentioned it and paid. The entire group was made of businessmen entertaining customers. We have no reason to bring a dog or make up that we didnt have one if we did. This is theft.

Hopefully this review will be able to be taken down by the Vrbo community. Mike and I had what I thought was very cordial communication in which I said our cleaning lady thought maybe there was a dog and that it was fine, I would take care of any additional cleaning fee. I was just welcoming him back any time and told him if he has a pooch in the future it’s totally welcome, just to let us know because there was a fee. I didn’t accuse him and was very polite. Unfortunately Mike told me he read the message quickly and didn’t catch that I wasn’t accusing and I wasn’t asking for additional money. He told me in his haste he left a negative review. The next day he put in a call to customer service and sent me a copy of his follow up email that it would be removed. Will continue working with Mike to take this review down.

Wonderful rustic retreat!

We had an amazing stay at the beautiful Lake Longbow! The directions & check-in instructions were clear and cabin was clean and in pristine condition when we arrived with heat already running to welcome us. Property manager was quick to communicate and answer any questions we had. The newly-renovated cabin was the perfect setup for our 2 families staying the weekend. The kids LOVED the bunk room and game room downstairs with plenty of space for everyone to spread out and enjoy the multiple Roku Smart TVS. Once the sun came up, we enjoyed exploring the property by trail and fishing off the the private dock. The panoramic sunset view from the living room windows was beautiful. We also were also amazed at the bald eagle who soared over the lake several times during our stay! The kitchen was well stocked with all we needed to cook for our party of 10. We enjoyed this rustic retreat and plan to return again!

I'm Kelly. Matt & Lisa and Jeramie & I purchased Lake Longbow in 2021 as a retreat for our families and to help other responsibility families in need of retreat. It's been our pride and joy--remodeling the home, cleaning up the grounds, and making 4-wheeler trails. There's always an adventure to be had at Lake Longbow. It's our peaceful get-away.

Lake Longbow is a very special property with woods, the lake, pasture, a beautiful home, and now RV spots. We love that the lake is stocked with bass, blue gill, and crappie. We swim and kayak in the lake. We ride 4-wheelers on the trails. We have nightly camp fires. We cook delicious meals. There's so much to do at Lake Longbow. Plus we are right down the road from so many epic adventures, including the Rockbridge Trout Resort.

If you want to relax and unwind, you can watch movies or play games with the family. If you want to kayak in the lake as the afternoon sun starts to go down, no one would blame you. If you want to sit on the deck and look at the bald eagles over the lake, we encourage you. If you feel like going out for a morning 4-wheeler ride after breakfast--you should.
