Fun get away

Property was exactly as described!

This was the perfect cottage to meet our needs to enjoy our family while visiting the area. It was also convenient to restaurants, activities and local interest. I would 100% recommend this host and cottage to anyone interested in booking in the general area.

Amazing Host, Home and location

From the time we made reservations until the day we left the host were amazing. The home was spotless and so comfortable which made you feel at home. The location is conveniently located close enough to major attractions and yet a nice relaxing area. The lake offers so many activities for the whole family.

Swim meet

We used this house while attending swim meet in Dover. This was a much better option instead of staying at a hotel. Property was great and had everything we needed.

Great space, professional host

The Cottage is a lovely place to stay. It’s little, but it’s clean (unlike many rentals), cute, charming, and functional. The neighborhood is quiet, secluded, and safe. I’ve stayed at many rentals, and Jason is far and away the most professional host I’ve ever worked with. You won’t be disappointed if you stay here! Highly recommend.

Wonderful cottage near Baxter Lake

Lovely cottage just short walk to Baxter Lake. Nice decoration touches and extra amenities including games, coffees, tea, spices, etc. Great outside seating, grill, and lighting. Quiet neughborhead. Great for walks. Jason was incredibly responsive!

Nice place near the lake.

The property was nice but the furniture was kind of a challenge. The beds and the couch were kind of soft and uncomfortable. Otherwise everything was as described.

Hi David - sorry to hear that you didn't take to the comfort level of our furniture. I think it's a matter of taste - we stay there frequently and sleep incredibly well in the beds and find our Bernie & Phyls couch to be comfy. I've even had guests ask where we purchased our mattresses! (Tuft & Needle and Wayfair, for the record). Nonetheless, thanks for staying.

Cute Little Forest Home

We really enjoyed staying here. The property is exactly as it appears in the photos. The home is well maintained and has been updated. It is also pretty accessible for seniors. My husband and I have booked many properties using VRBO over the past 10 years at different price points and this was in our top 5 for value. Thanks for a wonderful stay! My daughter was super impressed with the vinyl record collection.

Perfect place for a relaxing trip

We came to New Hampshire for a family event, and this house did not disappoint. It is absolutely lovely, and was perfect for the 3 of us. There are so many details that were well thought out, and made us feel at home. We had family over one night for dinner and the kitchen was more than well stocked. We did use the fire pit in the backyard one night, it was probably my favorite night. The backyard is absolutely gorgeous. The area is stunning and beyond peaceful. The host was extremely responsive, and the record player was a huge hit! We will definitely be staying here again.

Great family weekend!!!

We stayed close to our son and his growing family, with our younger son and his partner at the house with us. We were pleased to find the house exactly as was listed, and better. It's a lovely home, nice and open, so even if your preparing food your all still together. The directions sent to us were great, and there was a guide provided to refer to.A good time had by all, and lots of memories to take home with us. Thank you very much!

Fun, clean, and good location

My wife and I wanted a nice long-weekend getaway and found this fun little house. It is located comfortably in a nice, quiet, perfectly safe neighborhood, perfect for day trips in every direction. Although there is no "beach" directly near the house (it's a small boat launch area), there are beaches within nearby driving distances. There are also plenty of nearby towns that offer fun activities. So if you don't mind driving a little or just relaxing at the house itself, then this place is perfect. Both my wife and i truly enjoyed the surroundings and warm fun atmosphere there.

It was great hosting you - thanks so much for spending time at our lake home! Just a quick clarification - while the beach is small, it is not just a boat launch area. People picnic there, swim, and build sand castles! We have three beaches within the community, and the closest one also has a boat launch. Overall 10/10. Everything was quiet and relaxing. Easy access to 3 beaches. House is immaculate. Clean and organized from top to bottom, with wonderful decor. The back patio is the same way. Perfect place to relax, have a fire and just enjoy. Communication by the property manager was outstanding. Very quick response time, but we also didn't have to reach out that much because we had everything we needed.

Awesome Getaway

I truly enjoyed my stay here. The house is clean, bright and full of amenities (they even have a record player and lots of records). Check in and check out was simple. The whole setup is open and inviting. Even though there were neighbors on both sides, it was secluded enough for us to enjoy some rest and relaxation. We were able to see the lake from the front window, which was really nice. The owner was very kind and accommodating, and his responses to any questions I had were fast. Overall, this is a great family or even couples retreat that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for some rest and relaxation.

My teenage kids and I had a great stay at Nimue Cottage. The hosts respond well to communication without being overly communicative. Jason left incredibly helpful instructions and also a helpful list of things to do in the area and responded promptly to the few inquiries I had. The cottage is in a fantastic location and is peaceful. The cottage kitchen is amply equipped and the area farms and proximity to grocery are convenient and efficient. The walk to the lake beach is short and it's easy to travel to areas of interest in Maine, NH, or MA. The check out instruction and procedures are minimal. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better stay. I will definitely consider the cottage (and other listings from this host) the next time we visit!

The host gets a 5 star. He was helpful. He kept in touch with us as we drove up from Florida, and sent us the door code. It was COLD and damp outside, and the house was cold inside. We conversed with the owner immediately to get things warmer. We got a portable heater. The house itself was lacking . There diffidently needs repairs and a thorough cleaning. It was well stocked with towels, kitchen supplies, w/d, outside area with grill. Comfortable bed and HOT shower (very much appreciated). I can see this as a “lake house” but not “cozy, warm cabin”. I hope it is rebuilt to be that year round cozy place because the surrounding area is beautiful!

Hi, Thanks for staying and for your feedback. For future guests, please note that this guest's trip coincided with an extremely cold spell that hit us early this season. Usually we shut the house down during January and Feb as a result, but unfortunately the guest booked their late-November visit months prior, and it coincided with near record-temps outside. After the guest's departure and during the same cold spell, we went inside to discover a warm home at 70 degrees, even without the space heater that the guest had running - the guest had the electric baseboards cranked up and the mini-split running on an incorrect setting. Our utility bill for the month of their weeklong stay was over $650, which is about 3x the highest that we've ever had there.

Perfect for Us and our K-9.

This cute little cottage house was perfect for us. Our children and grandchildren even visited a couple of times and enjoyed a day playing at the lake. This house is equipped for small children as well as your fur babies. They had toys for the toddlers and cozy dog bed for our dog. We were in want of nothing and had a very enjoyable time. This cottage is very clean well furnished and has every item you could ever need. Jason was quick to reply to texts. Every thing was well explained in the book concerning check-in and out plus local sites to explore. Thank You Jason I plan on spending more time in the future at Numi's cottage.

Excellent stay at Baxter Lake

This is an adorable cottage on Baxter Lake with clean, fun decor and every amenity you could need for your stay. The home is exactly as the photos show. The owners clearly put lots of thought into making their guests feel at home. There were plug-in fans in both bedrooms, super comfortable beds, tv options ready to go and a fully stocked kitchen with plenty of convenient items like baggies, a kettle and even a Brita in the fridge. We really appreciated the full size washer and dryer and available detergent too. While we didn’t use the record player, I appreciated the trip down memory lane with their extensive album collection. What a fun thing to have in a rental! Josh was very helpful and extremely quick to respond to my messages. He was in touch before our very smooth check in with our unique code for the doors. We loved this property and highly recommend it!

Lovely clean well appointed home. Anything we could imagine needing was there. Fabulous kitchen for cooking. Comfortable beds and plenty of space in the living areas. The home is not directly on the water but just a short walk to the beach. A wonderful neighborhood to walk to any of the 3 available beaches. A great discovery was Butternut Farm down the road. We went raspberry and strawberry picking. They have yummy pies too. You don’t want to miss this place.

Baxter Lake Trip

Enjoyed our stay very much. Jason was always prompt with communication. We were able to host Thanksgiving with our daughter & son-in-law. The area is nice & enjoyable to walk on the streets with a view of the lake.

We purchased Nimue's Cottage at Baxter Lake in 2021 and own multiple properties at Baxter Lake. We live in Newburyport, but have been vacationing in New Hampshire at Baxter Lake for many years. In fact, our family members retired right down the street from Nimue's Cottage!

Baxter Lake is close enough from Boston for a quick 90 minute drive up after work, but it's a world away from the city. No light pollution, clean air, quiet and tranquil, Nimue's Cottage at Baxter Lake is the perfect escape for a long weekend, or a full week's vacation in the summer.

Nimue's Cottage is a destination unto itself, but also close enough to grocery stores, hardware stores, craft stores, and restaurants (15 minutes away), skiing (45 minutes away), and day trips under an hour (Ogunquit, Dover, Portsmouth, Laconia, Lake Winnipesaukee, Maine, Outlet Shopping).

We escape the city for our home in the woods as often as possible, but we also love sharing our home with responsible families and groups of friends who will treat our home respectfully.

Nimue's Cottage is the perfect four-season getaway, with great insulation and heating for the winter, and central A/C for the summer.

We designed Nimue's Cottage with families in mind, and we understand that some families might have a few extra kids, so we do have a pull-out couch in case you need extra space.

If you're traveling with two couples, please keep in mind that one bedroom has a queen bed, and the other has bunk beds, twin on top (200 pound weight limit on the top bunk) and full down below.

Oh, and you're probably wondering about the name Nimue.

All of the roads at our community - Lancelot Shores - are named after characters from King Arthur and Arthurian Legend.

Nimue is the Lady of the Lake - a fitting name for our charming lake home!
