Perched on the second floor of a historic 1920 farmhouse in the hamlet of Stone Ridge, this bright Hudson Valley loft offers a peaceful base for exploring the surrounding countryside. Elevated above the property, the apartment feels airy and quiet — an ideal retreat after a day hiking the trails of the Shawangunk Mountains or wandering through the small towns of the Rondout Valley.

The loft preserves the charm of the original farmhouse while providing the comfort needed for a relaxed stay in the Hudson Valley.

Stone Ridge sits at a crossroads between farmland, forest, and mountain landscapes, placing guests within easy reach of Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Preserve, and many scenic drives throughout the valley.

My stay lasted 3 days, but unfortunately on two of those days I awoke to discover that there was no running water anywhere in the unit. I used the virtual front desk messaging function to contact the property manager, but the response time was unsatistactory. The first day that it happened, I decided to leave the unit and begin the sightseeing that I had planned to do. I received an update while I was out to say that the water issue had been resolved, and that was good. The next day I was in the area to attend my niece's wedding and there were no problems with the water supply that day. The third day was my departure day, and there was no running water again. I reported the problem, but the response time was worse, particularly when I was eager to pack and leave. Someone came to the house and restored the water, but that person never reached out to me to say that the problem was fixed. I saw the car pull up and the person approached the house, and just by chance I tried the water again, and it was now flowing. However, there was no time to bathe or make breakfast and I was not offered an extension of my checkout time, and I was worried that if it might happen again. The unit was otherwise clean and comfortable and the location met my needs, but the water situation was quite aggravating and naturally I don't have a positive memory of the entire experience. Eventually I spoke to the property manager in person, but that was too little too late.

This is a spacious apartment in a great location with VERY responsive management, who kindly accommodated my fragrance allergy (THANK YOU!!!!!). The apartment is close to shops and restaurants (try Asia - yum!). We walked to the bagel shop for coffee and bagels each day but we could have cooked in the well appointed kitchen. We were in town for a weekend family reunion - this was a great home base.

Great place to stay

I was in town for a 5 day training and this apt was the perfect spot for my stay. Had everything I needed and then some. The apt is cute, comfortable and thoughtfully appointed. I’ll try to stay here again next time I’m in town.

I LOVE the old architecture and wooded property ! Owner did a wonderful job updating the kitchen, bath and HAC . The bed was WONDERFUL ! Lovely towels and bedding !

Everything in the property was as described-nice teas and great pots for making tea and coffee. Comfortable bed and great shower. Bathroom lighting was a bit dim but we were there only one night so it was not a huge problem.

Stone Ridge

There's much to love about this property; charming old house, spacious layout, decor, art work, proximity to restaurants, and the view out the dining/kitchen area. The only drawback, from my point of view, is the sulfur smell of the water. Turns out this is common for the area.

very nicely decorated, lovely views out the back into the woods,had everything we needed...plenty of towels, comfy bed. Really good sushi restaurant 1 minute walk away. Very clean, very homey, nice original art all around. Not super quiet- we could hear street traffic and a little people sound from downstairs but it didn't bother us. Complaints in other reviews about sulpher smelling water really not that bad

Great bed and shower, nice choice of wall colors, cool furnishings. Good Asian fusion restaurant a stone’s throw away. Property is an older home and feels somewhat rickety. There’s no TV either. Neither of these things were problematic for me, but others might find them so.

Really cute apartment, just not right for our needs

Very clean and colorful, fun decor, lots of thoughtful touches and amenities. We love that they left lights on for us (including romantic tea lights throughout the apartment!) since we arrived late in the evening. Unfortunately, the downstairs renters were in our parking spot that night, but we managed to squeeze in next to them and they parked on their side of the house the next day. Our main complaints were (1) mattress was extremely firm--fine for me but not my husband; he had to sleep on the couch (2) downstairs renters were socializing late one night--it was just normal conversation, but the house is older, so there was nothing to buffer the noise; it was like they were having a conversation in our bedroom (3) the hot water faucet in the shower was not working properly (no hot water on the second day and very difficult to shut off both days); (4) the sulfur smell in the water was really strong--the entire apartment smelled like sulfur when we returned at the end of the second day. I dreaded washing my face and hands, brushing my teeth, taking a shower, washing dishes because of the smell. We were advised of the sulfur issue, but not until a few days before we arrived. There was a filter at the kitchen sink to make the water safe to drink, but it still smelled/tasted of sulfur. Wish we had brought bottled water. We live in an old house and appreciate that they have quirks, but this property just didn't meet our needs for a restful vacation.

Great place to stay for a weekend - we really just needed a place to sleep and this was a great find. We didn’t use the kitchen so I can’t speak on that but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fairly large. Parking was easy! The water does have a light sulfur smell and is cloudy so would recommend bringing drinking water. Might not be the right choice for light sleepers if there’s someone on the bottom floor and there seems to be a neighborhood rooster but it didn’t bother us. Overall, we felt it had a great value and enjoyed exploring the local area!

I’m Serg, the host behind these homes. I’ve been welcoming guests to the Hudson Valley and the Shawangunk region for many years, and hospitality has become a big part of my life. Over time I’ve learned that what people really appreciate when they travel is not something fancy — it’s a place that feels thoughtful, calm, clean, and genuinely cared for.

While I’m personally involved in preparing and improving the homes, I’m not doing it alone. We have a small local team that helps take care of the properties and support guests during their stay. Many members of the team have been working with us for years and take pride in making sure everything runs smoothly.

Our goal is simple: create places where people can relax, explore the mountains and countryside around the Gunks, and enjoy their time in the Hudson Valley.

A lot of small details were thought out for the guests to be comfortable, to cook meals, enjoy fresh high quality morning coffee and enjoy the place. The place is a beautiful historical house in Stone Ridge and near tourists attractions, restaurants, and hikes. House is a part of historical heritage of Stone Ridge and used to belong to a local blacksmith and possibly Mr Cooper himself who had his shop set up on the first floor. We are serious about the cleanliness and service, ready to go the extra step to make sure that guests enjoy their stay. We also keep improving and updating the place all the time.
