This beautiful colonial home, which sits on 32 acre goat farm
future winery and vineyard (hopefully opening spring 2025), includes 5 spacious bedrooms and 3 updated bathrooms. There is a newly renovated eat-in kitchen plus a large living room with lovely original fireplaces. There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor. The second floor master suite includes a large master bath with clawfoot tub and dressing room. Outside there is a screened-in gazebo with a dining table and gas fire table, a patio with a grill, and a large wood fire pit.

This is a unique place to stay. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The house is beautiful, up to date, well equipped (we easily prepared meals for 10), very comfortable, and clean. The grounds are also well maintained with flowers, stone walls. a fire pit, a screen house, etc. We enjoyed seeing the farm animals - chickens, goats, a turkey, and a very friendly dog. The quiet and solitude was a welcome experience. Things nearby for us - the Sprague Land Trust (great hiking); and a half hour drive - Abbott’s Lobster Pound in Noank, and Salem Valley Farms ice creme dairy bar on the way home.

We had an incredible stay at Hanover Vineyards. The house is full of historic charm, and very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was impressively well stocked, and the host was both responsive and accommodating. You can truly feel the care and attention that goes into making your stay enjoyable. The grounds are beautiful, and we loved spending time with the animals on the farm. It was the perfect weekend getaway!

Lovely destination and experience…

Three generations had a wonderful time staying at Hanover Vineyards. The house was comfortable and well-appointed, and the host friendly, accessible and accommodating. The grandchildren enjoyed feeding the goats and chickens, and fell in love with Pete, the property’s special Great Pyrenees cohost. Highly recommend!

Historic farmhouse

We loved the house as well as the beautiful yard complete with patio, large gazebo, grill, and a wonderful fire pit. The children enjoyed visiting the animals (goats, ducks & chickens) and the large grassy area to run around in.

The check-in process could not be simpler! This home easily accommodated our group of 9 for an annual family vacation. The fully-stocked kitchen was a joy to work in, and there was plenty of room for 3 cooks to work at once. The huge fire pit was a hit with our s'mores lovers, and the large screen house provided a pest-free outdoor dining area. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Beautiful Property

Megin was wonderful and the place easily housed our 9 person group. My daughter had a great time playing with the goats, chickens, and ducks. The house was very well stocked and no issues at all with check in or out.

Hidden Gem

This house is very comfortable and relaxing. It is quiet and rural. The grounds are picturesque. It is close to the shore and Connecticut River attractions, as well as hiking trails, farm stands, and dairy farm ice creme shops. There were 9 of us in the house and we all had a great time. The house is almost a destination in itself. We are planning to go back next year.

Hanover Vineyards - Absolutely Wonderful Property

Hanover Vineyards is a true gem. The house is beautiful, with so much attention to detail. The Colonial charm is evident everywhere, but it has all of the modern conveniences, too. We loved the gardens, the horseshoe pit and walking up to see Pete, the goats, chickens, ducks and turkeys. The Welcome Book is so informative - there are dozens of great things to do close by. Megin (the owner) was so nice and helpful. We'll definitely be back!

Hanover Vineyards NYE '23

A group of 8 friends stayed at this property for 2 nights to celebrate New Year's Eve. The house was clean and comfortable, the kitchen modern and well equipped. We enjoyed walking the property, feeding the goats with the hosts, Megin and Woody, and relaxing with old friends. Megin was always available and very helpful and friendly. We would definitely recommend this property!

You will love EVERYTHING

Megin and Woody were wonderful. The house was the most well appointed we’ve stayed in. The history of this beautiful house was evident in every room. We enjoyed absolutely everything about our stay. We would definitely love to book again! You will be very happy! We sure were. The house, the fire pit, the grounds, the animals! The owners are fabulous!

Extended Family Thanksgiving

We celebrated Thanksgiving with our extended family of three generations. The house and property were great and exceeded our expectations. The house is historic with all the charm of an old house, with all the comforts of a modern home. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked a full Thanksgiving meal. The grounds of the property are really pretty with lots to explore and the owners were very responsive and pleasant. We had a great time and would definitely return in the future!

Wedding prep

This place is amazing. We rented the house because my daughter was getting married in Canterbury and we felt it would be an easier commute of we stayed near the venue. The place sleeps 8-10 people. We had to rent 2 homes since we were a very large group of 20. We all preferred the farm house better. The location was better, the house was spotless. The property owner and the caretaker were easy to reach if I had any questions or needed help with anything.

The house was more than I expected, even having read the glowing reviews. The kitchen is well equipped, well stocked and has a well lit spacious cooking area adjacent to a large dining area, great for accommodating the whole family for breakfast and dinner. From the kitchen, there are views of the stunning garden from every window and door. We had nine adults in the house and we never felt crowded or lacked for an available bathroom. The beds and bedding were comfortable, the bedrooms had original authentic architectural features. The decor was in keeping with the period of the house, no lace or faux country trappings. We loved the animals, the pond, the walks through the well cared for property. We couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to stay while attending our festive, picnic wedding celebration with family in nearby Scotland.

The VRBO listing stated Pet Friendly in several descriptions. The night before check in the host texted me with further information stating explicitly No Pets. We had to scramble to make other arrangements for our small blind deaf toothless dog. Very stressful. All the fault of VRBO

Hanover Vineyards

The farmhouse is beautiful, retaining its charm while sporting modern conveniences. The kitchen is well appointed, which made it easy for us to cook large meals for our family gatherings. We appreciated the availability of cleaning products, paper goods, etc. - everything we needed for our stay. The house was very clean and comfortable, with plenty of linens for a large group. There were also many thoughtful touches, such as toiletries in the bathrooms, black face cloths for makeup removal, a snack basket, and fresh flowers upon our arrival. The hosts were super responsive to our messages and very accomodating. We enjoyed spending time with Pete and the other animals, and making use of the outside fire pit. We highly recommend this property and hope to visit again when the winery is open!

This house is amazing and great for large families. We definitely hope to come back and even possibly rent the smaller house on the same property as well. Our group was 10 adults and this house worked out great for a wedding weekend as the venue was about 15 minutes away. Incredible kitchen which was updated nicely with everything you might need while the rest of the house had so much original charm. Megin and Woody (the owners) couldn't have been any more responsive or nicer to us and took care of any issues we had during our stay. They let us feed the goats and livestock as well as giving us the history of this incredible house built in 1751 as well as their future plans to turn it into a vineyard. They made recommendations on some local wineries and even provided us a bottle of one of their wines to try. The yard and grounds were pristine and so peaceful especially the pond. We played some horseshoes and yard games as well as enjoyed the outdoor fire pit one night. Pinot their dog who lives with the goats, was an absolute rock star and the cutest. 10 out of 10 for this house/property and would highly recommend checking it out.

Perfect. A great family gathering spot.

We were looking for a large home to accommodate our family for my wife's special birthday. And this worked out great. Quite frankly, I felt that some of my questions to Megin prior to arrival might have bordered on pestering but she was extremely accommodating and responsive. Megin and Woody invited us to feed the animals which the kids enjoyed. Good people!! The gazebo with gas fire pit was perfect when it was windy and rainy and we had to abandon the outdoor pit. The kids liked to hike the trail, check out the pond, run down the hill from the barn and check out the animals. The kitchen and bathrooms are updated and beautifully appointed while the rest of the house maintains its historical charm. This is by far one of the best VRBO's we have stayed in. And, yes, Pete (the dog) is awesome!

Perfect Stay

Woody and Megan , Our extended family from ages 2 to 60, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your beautiful home. We had plenty of cozy places inside and outdoors to spread out. The kids could not get enough of the outdoors. They were constantly engaged from the fire pit , outdoor games, to the goats, chickens, and barn cats and of course the gentle dog. The house was equipped with everything you could need. For a home built in the 1750’s, it has all modern convinces in the kitchen and bathrooms. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen a dream, the grill great, and the gazebo perfect. The charm of the authentic fireplace, and floors as well as the decor, it felt as if we were actually in a true historical setting. You were excellent hosts. Thanks for the time you took to involve our family with feeding the barn animals. It was a special treat to meet your sons. Our family shared many special moments here. It was a blessing. A nature lovers paradise, the property has 32 acres of pasture and forest to explore. Quiet and serene this working farm and vineyard lets you escape. There are goats, chickens and ducks on the property which you are welcome to visit with and help feed.

We are located near many beautiful Eastern CT wedding venues including:
Wrights Mill -14 miles
Cedarbrook Barn - 6 miles
The Overlook at Geer Tree Farm - 9 miles
Stone Hurst at Hampton Valley - 11 miles
Maple Lane Farms - 13 miles

We are conveniently located close to I-395 and Rt. 2. This puts you in the heart of Eastern Connecticut close to several wineries, spas, golf course, seasonal farmers markets and locally owned businesses.

We are also conveniently located about 40 minutes from the Connecticut shoreline, Mystic attractions, and both the University of Connecticut and Eastern Connecticut State University. We are about 20 minutes from both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos and Newport RI is a scenic one hour drive.

This home is located on the same property as a farm winery which may be open during your stay. Guests of the winery will not be near the house, however they will be on the hill/barn tasting room. The driveway is shared between the house and the winery.
There is also a second short term rental on the property. Please look for he Barn Stay at Hanover Vineyards if you are interested in renting both homes.

- Our very friendly dog Pete, a Great Pyrenees, lives on the property to help protect the goats. He sometimes barks at night.
- For the safety of our animals, we do not allow pets of any kind at any time on the property.
- You are coming to a working goat farm and winery. Although we will respect your privacy, someone will cross the property to do the farm chores. Please let us know if you would like to join us feeding the animals.
- Winery and farm store may be open during your stay.
