Welcome to our family cottage, Sunset Retreat! Updated! Beautiful master bath, new quartz countertops, new appliances, flooring interior and exterior paint, and more! Cottage is seasonally decorated! Bring your snow skis, snowboard, boat, snowmobiles, ORVS, and fishing poles! Or, visit the many wineries, golf courses, and ski resorts that surround the area. Turtle Creek Casino just a short drive away! This private, all season 2 bedroom w/loft (master on main floor and guest room and loft on 2nd floor) and 2 full bath cottage is ready to entertain. 100’ of frontage with sunset views of Manistee Lake. Pontoon rentals available on the lake and ORV rentals nearby as well. Just added this year, pontoon hoist. Excellent swimming, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, ORV riding and more. Surrounded by state land and 100’s of miles of trails that seem to head everywhere! Short drives to Grayling, Traverse City, Torch Lake and more. Wineries all around! A little over an hour to Mackinaw! Centrally located, Sunset Retreat is the perfect cottage for your vacation. 2 bedrooms and a loft. King beds in the bedrooms and a Queen and 2 single beds in the loft. All new beds, mattresses, reclining couches, dining table, washer and dryer, linens, flooring, and paint. 100’ dock will be in Memorial Day through Labor Day. 2 Kayaks, water floats, and life jackets will be available during the same time. No smoking, No parties, No Pets, Max 8 guests, and No fireworks on the property or dock. Photos may not always be exact as we continue to make improvements to the cottage. Wonderful stay!

The kids had an absolute blast at the cabin! We honestly wouldn't have changed a thing! It was beyond all expectations and we hope to visit again very soon!

The perfect stay

This cottage was a perfect fit for our family of 6. It has all the at home touches and is in a prime location. The kitchen has everything you need for a home cooked meal. The back yard is stunning and we enjoyed many meals on the gazebo. The kayaks were a big hit too! Don't miss out! Thank you John & Kris!

Great Stay on Manistee Lake

We had an amazing time on Manistee Lake. The house was the perfect set up for my wife and I, and our twin twelve year old girls. The girls had the loft area to themselves and my wife and I enjoyed the quiet time downstairs or on the patio looking out at the serene lake. The house had all of the amenities to make it a great vacation home and Manistee Lake is the perfect size to explore by kayak, or pull the kids behind a boat. The homeowners were extremely communicative and checked in on us by text throughout our stay to ensure everything was going great. I highly recommend this property for an outstanding lake getaway in Northern Michigan!!

Beautiful cottage on a quiet lake

Our family of six, including four teenagers, was looking for a lake cottage for a quick four day getaway, and we are so glad we picked this one! Everything was thoughtfully planned out by the owners for our stay, including generous supplies, great beach towels, and the best cookware we have ever had at a rental. The kitchen was extremely organized and easy to find anything you need. Additionally, the hosts left a little welcome basket of snacks for the kids, which were quickly devoured. Our hosts were responsive and messaged to see if we had any questions. The bedding and mattresses were perfect and everyone slept well. As for the lake, it is a beautiful and quite lake. The kids were out on the kayaks every day, and the sunsets were stunning. In addition to a fire pit lakeside, there is also a fire pit in the front yard, in case there is too much of a breeze. We enjoyed using both and also the ample space in the front yard for cornhole and throwing a football around. While we didn’t use it much, there were plenty of charging stations and the WiFi was strong. Don’t let the lack of reviews stop you from booking this cottage. With it being a new rental, I’m sure it will be getting five star reviews and be difficult to get a reservation here in the future. We hope to be back again next year!

We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this property! The house was exactly as described, clean, comfortable, and stocked with everything we needed. The welcome snacks were a thoughtful touch and a great way to start our trip. We brought our boat, and having access to John's dock was a huge bonus and made our time on the water so convenient. John was an excellent host who was responsive, friendly, and easy to communicate with throughout our stay. Also the sunsets were beautiful to watch! We would absolutely stay here again!

We arrived to find everything as pictured in the VRBO article. Cabin was extremely clean and well maintained and organized. Kitchen was clean and well stocked with everything that we needed for our six night stay. Beds and bathrooms were clean bright and comfortable. You are steps from the water’s edge with kayaks and fishing to enjoy. We would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

This property was above and beyond our expectations. The communication with the owners was quick and helpful. The home was fully equipped with everything you need and then some. They thought of everything you would need for a night or a week. The kayaks and outside environment was an extra touch to give us the vacation feel. BTW… we rented a pontoon and the company the owners recommended was perfect for what we needed. Definitely would recommend to all our friends and family.

Sunset retreat sits on 100' of frontage and has beautiful sunset views. The shallow sandy bottom makes it ideal for swimming and floating in the water. We are near ORV and snowmobile trails. Pontoon, ORV, and snowmobile rentals are also nearby. Surrounded by birch trees, maples, and evergreens, Sunset Retreat has that up north feel. Please message us if you have any questions!
