Finca Indigo was one of the best parts of our entire trip to Costa Rica, and we cannot recommend it enough. The property is absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful plants everywhere, trails to explore, and a creek running through the property. The house itself was spacious, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Our main goal for this trip was birding, and we were blown away by how many species we saw without even leaving Finca Indigo. Some of our favorite memories were watching parakeets and toucans in the trees right around the house. There are also fascinating artifacts found right on the property, including pottery and tools from the Indigenous people who once lived there.Derek was an incredible host. He is kind, welcoming, and so knowledgeable about the area, birds, wildlife, and plants. He gave us great recommendations and was always happy to help us identify something we had found. He, his two incredibly sweet dogs, and his cat made us feel completely at home. We often ended our nights hanging out together, grilling, making smoothies, or telling stories. At the same time, Derek never felt intrusive at all. We simply enjoyed his company so much that we kept inviting him to join us!Monteverde is only about a 20 minute drive away, but honestly, we could have happily spent much of our trip just enjoying Finca Indigo. We already miss it and are hoping to come back someday. It was everything we could have asked for and more.
