If you like to occasionally fish, walk across the street to Adams Lake and throw a line in. The Pier in downtown Charlevoix is another popular place with easy access. There are also charter fishing boats to get you out on the "big" lake" or Lake Charlevoix. Lots of rentals in the area for any type of watercraft from canoe to pontoon,
The Charlevoix area has many opportunities for day hikers or beach goers. The Mt. McSauba recreational area is approximately 4 miles from the cabin with mountain biking, hiking, disc golf and beautiful beaches and sunsets over Lake Michigan. Fisherman's Island State Park is three miles away on the shores of Lake Michigan with beautiful trails and dunes. Both are great areas for Petoskey stone hunting! We are located close to natural areas and conservancies if you like birding.
Stroll through downtown Charlevoix while enjoying a local treat from an ice cream shop. There are many casual or fine dining restaurants within the downtown area. Check out the Charlevoix schedule for summer festivals and free concerts! Take a "Mushroom House" tour to view the iconic Earl Young homes in the area. The Charlevoix library is a special place with activities for all ages. Enjoy the views of the harbor from a bench in the park or walk the pier to Charlevoix's historical lighthouse as the bridge opens for boat traffic.
Bring your bikes! The cabin is on a popular biking route. If you like a longer ride, there are "rail to trail" systems all the way to Mackinaw.
Shopping and golf for everyone!
A walk out the back door you will find a Maple Woods with an outdoor fire pit and grill. An indoor gas fireplace adds warmth to living space. Petoskey, Boyne City and Harbor Springs are 30 minutes away. Traverse City, Sleeping Bear dunes National Park and Mackinaw are close enough for a day trip.
At the end of your day, you will be coming back to your own private space where you can start a bonfire or sit on the front porch with your favorite beverage and watch the sun go down beyond the woods. When you wake, take your coffee to the porch, listen to the birds and watch the sun rise....
