Great stay at an awesome cabin

We loved the cabin. It fit our family perfectly and very little noise traveled between floors which was perfect for sleeping toddlers. We loved the patio and being in the woods! Check in and out was super easy

Beauty of a property

This home was a beautiful place to enjoy nature with my friends. Grilling while looking out at the summer foliage and enjoying nature was wonderful. The upstairs bedroom is gorgeous and as someone whom is learning more about furniture making, I appreciated all the wood pieces and their placements. Thanks to the host for having us!

Beautiful and Clean Home near Hunter Mountain

The house was one of the cleanest and well kept properties I've ever stayed at. We had no complaints. The home design was beautiful and there were photos showing just how much work had went into the construction and layout. The furnishings were nice and we were excited to find some posters in the kids room of an obscure 90s cartoon. Our only note is to be wary of the driveway down to the property if you do not have 4 wheel drive. It is very steep and ices quickly because of the location. During our stay, the owner responded quickly to all questions and sent a plow. We'd stay here again and I'd recommend it to others.

This cabin is wonderful! It was cozy and comfortable and fit our group of 6—-2 couples and 2 singles. We came for a weekend wedding and our relatives paid much more and got much less!

Wonderful Stay!

Six adults stayed at Little Big North for just a weekend, but we had a terrific time! The cabin was very nice and looked just as the pictures showed. It was clean and had everything we needed for our stay, other than groceries. The fireplace was nice for those of us who don't have one in the city! Would love to rent here again when the weather is warmer. Thank you Jim for sharing your cabin with us!

Charming Oasis in the Catskills

Beautiful and spacious log cabin tucked away and off the beaten path. The house is gorgeous and filled with beautiful hand crafted tables that you will wish were in your home. The house has everything you need and is loaded with some great extra touches. The patio off the back is a peaceful and scenic place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or your morning coffee. The house has so much land and although we didn't make it down to the water, there are canoes! This is a great house for a girls weekend or a family get a way. Quick drive to downtown Catskills. We loved that there were little signs around the home to offer tips about the house and make us mindful of things to know. The house was clean and offered plenty of different sleeping options. The master bedroom upstairs is a selling feature of the house and has a small private balcony off the bedroom. If my travels take me to area again, I will definitely stay here. Jim offered spot on tips for the best coffee in Catskills (HiLo) and great shopping in the area. He was quick to respond with answers to our questions prior to arrival. We really enjoyed this beautiful log cabin tucked away in the Catskills.

Peaceful, beautiful setting, wonderful cabin

Loved staying here with family for a tiny reunion. It was super safe and thoughtfully appointed for us 6 adults as well as my 14 month old- clean pack n play and high chair at the ready, an assortment of kids books she loved. An incredible deck in a grove of trees, we had wonderful meals and lounged happily in the great room. Nearby catskill was a great trip to a riverside playground and park that all enjoyed. Jim the owner was very easy to work with, and his rental instructions were simple to follow. We would definitely rent again in the future.

Great family lodge near Hudson

Great family lodge within a 20 minute drive to Hudson, NY. We had two babies with us and appreciated the two folding cribs that were available. The property is very pretty and well kept. Jim was responsive and helpful with the booking.

Wonderful house

We have stayed in 4 or 5 houses in the Catskill area, and all 6 of us thought this was the best yet. Jim, the owner, was good about replying right away to our emails. The house is fascinating - well designed and constructed. It is open and airy and things flow well. Radiant heating in the floor made it comfy under foot. Beds are very comfortable. We loved the long, beautiful table, and the fireplace worked REALLY well. We appreciated the supply of firewood on the porch. All in all, it was delightful, and we hope to return there next year.

Our stay at the cabin was great. We were attending a wedding and it was close and a great location. The cabin had everything that we needed and was perfect for our family. The town was close and had a lot of stores and things to do.

Had an amazing weekend at the cabin! It was clean, had plenty of space, and was extremely relaxing. It's exactly what you would want in a log cabin! The weather was very cold so we didn't enjoy the outdoors as much as we would have liked but I would recommend it and plan on going back! The town also has many shops/ stores which was very convenient for groceries, liquor, firewood,etc.

New Year's Eve Get Away

Myself and six of our dear friends brought in the New Year in this quaint and cozy log cabin built by the owner. We were able to prepare all of our meals and dine at a beautiful wood table, and the kitchen was well equipped with all we needed. At night we were warmed by the ambience of the fireplace and caught up on movies. One of the most truly impressive features of this log cabin were the skylights, and at night you could see the moon and during the day, we had the added bonus of a winter wonderland, watching the snow drift down. We had a comfortable and enjoyable stay in this rustic log cabin and it was a delight to spend our New Year's Eve here with all of our close friends.

"The Joys of Family and Hearth"

Natural wood throughout! Stone fireplace in common area!! Fully equipped kitchen: pots, pans, utensils, dishes...a priority high on our list, because we planned a Christmas day feast!!! I brought my own kitchen with us, but didn't have to unpack it! Groceries (and wine!) conveniently nearby. My sister and I chose this log cabin for our family to spend Christmas this year (2014). Our group included our spouses, our mother and our children. Everyone was thoroughly satisfied and comfortable in this space; the only exceptions to satisfaction were totally out of the owners control: no snow, too much rain:( so the children couldn't explore all that land. Oh, and the owner's Mexican restaurant suggestion in Hudson: Absolutely delicious with a most hospitable owner...Shout out to Mexican Radio! We ate; we laughed; we healed; we were very merry in this cozy cabin (and we told no one in our party that wi-fi was available)!

Great long weekend at this cozy cabin!

My six friends and I spent the long MLK weekend at this Catskill log cabin. The cabin has a lot of charm, and with the fire roaring in the living room and dinner cooking in the open kitchen, it's incredibly cozy. We ventured out for a long hike on Saturday (we drove to get there) and then some of us traveled to nearby Hunter Mountain for a day of skiing. Honestly, it was hard to leave the house! We had a great time just being lazy, reading, playing cards, and cooking. If you're looking to have a relaxing weekend in a beautiful and cozy home - this is certainly the right place!

Beautiful and cozy wooded cabin

My family and I enjoyed a beautiful weekend in the Catskills thanks to this Cabin. The location is really great, only about two hours from the City. There are two cities close by where you can find grocery stores, restaurants, and Dunkin Donuts. Close to several attractions such as the Catskills Park, Woodstock Farm Animal, Olana State Historic Park. Also not too far from Lake Taghkanik state park. The house itself is pretty much equipped with everything you need, from cooking to entertainment. Dealing with the owner was also really great, he was always available to answer any questions, etc. Would definitely recommend it.

I booked this lovely all wood cabin for my husbands birthday weekend in Feb. the structure on this home is amazingly beautiful. Very spacious and most importantly dog friendly. We were lucky to be hit with a snow storm that provided us with some great fresh powder. We were even able to play in the back of the house on the hill with a cpl of sleighs. The beautiful fireplace provided not just warmth but a great cozy atmosphere. The cabin is conveniently located near town and Hunter mountain. It's quite large and can accommodate several people. Unfortunately the weather kept the other couples away. But it's was just as wonderful with just us two and our furbabies. I highly recommend this home for a winter getaway. Just don't book early Feb cause we plan on returning! Lol.

Beautiful Property - Peace and Quiet Abound....

This was a much needed week of a break from life...and as with the other reviewers, we agree, this place was perfect. Even my dog relaxed, LOL. Went with two adults and two 17 year old boys and had a great time with all the modern conveniences as well as the outdoors at our fingertips. Did some great hiking, shopping and eating all within 20 minutes of the house, very convenient. Definitely take their advice (and ours) and go to Mexican Radio in Hudson it was amazing!!! Thanks Jim for a wonderful stay,

Perfect Getaway!

We rented the cabin for a weekend getaway, with 8 adults and 2 dogs. The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed. There was some snow on the ground from the night before, but the owner had the driveway plowed so we had no problems getting onto the property. The fireplace was great and the hiking behind the cabin was beautiful. Thanks for a memorable weekend!

PERFECT GET-AWAY SPOT!

This is my third stay at the cabin since 2009! My friends and I rented the cabin twice this winter, once in January and again last month . We are OBSESSED with how charming the cabin is that we keep trying to find excuses to book weekends away! We live in NYC and love heading upstate for quiet time. We love to ski at Windham, which is just over 30 minutes away and the cabin's location is really convenient. The cabin sleeps 8 comfortably, but we had 9 people the second time around and used the couch. The bedrooms are fully furnished and the decor throughout the cabin is so much fun to look at. This place is literally all made out of wood! Our favorite spot was in front of the fireplace (perfect with a glass of wine and marshmallows!), which the owner keeps stocked with firewood. We brought our own just in case the firewood there was wet from the snow and hard to light. The pretty kitchen is equipped with enough pots and pans, silverware and utensils to cook and enjoy a quiet, secluded weekend with no outside distractions. We brought our own food for the weekend and had a blast cooking-in!! My friend's and I even joked about sending bids to the owner to buy the cabin from him. THAT'S HOW MUCH WE LOVE IT THERE! Each time we rented the cabin it was spotless! Very clean and comfortable. Near the fireplace is an album with photos of the cabin being built step by step. It was a lot of fun to look at. I have never used the cabin in the spring or summer, but I'm sure it's just as beautiful and look forward to using it AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN! Bring your own paper towels, toilet paper and towels. There are towels in the bathroom, but somethings you just like to bring from home. THANKS FOR A GREAT STAY!! ALL 9 OF US HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!

Perfect log cabin for New Year's weekend with friends

Eight of us stayed at the cabin over New Year's weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the property. When there's snow on the ground, you can sled all the way down to the stream at the bottom of the property! Might get a little dicey dividing up rooms among four couples, but we had two in the main floor rooms the entire time and the other two swapped the lovely master bedroom for the basement halfway through, and it worked out. The owner-made furniture throughout is a nice touch. BYO paper towels, toilet paper and other basics.

The house and property are cherished by me and my family when we're not renting it, and we love hearing how much our guests have enjoyed their time at Little Big North.
