This fully updated farmhouse features plush bedding, amazing views, and stellar amenities. Located in historic Appomattox County, close to Liberty University and James River State Park. Whatever your adventure is, we can help you explore.
Beautiful, historic 120-year-old renovated farmhouse on private acres with an amazing view! Two story, 2750 sq ft home features 4 bedrooms, 3 full baths, spacious living room with fireplace and a dining room that comfortably seats 8. A large game room with board games, a pool table, poker table, and 50" TV with PlayStation 4 will satisfy all family fun and gaming needs! The house also offers a large deck to gather for the great view as well as a charcoal grill for barbecuing, a hot tub for relaxing, a spacious outdoor shower and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows!
The small creek on the property offers the opportunity to try your luck at bass fishing (bring your own fishing gear or ask about rentals) as well as the ability to launch a kayak for short paddle to explore the creek . Walking trails along the creek and around the property offer the ability to get some exercise and take in the clean Virginia air.
While we are known as a great place to get away from the busy life and simply relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, there are plenty of activities and adventures well within reach. James River State Park is a quick 5 minutes away for those that are interested in river kayaking, canoeing, tubing, fishing, hiking and exploring (kayak, tubes and canoe rentals offered at the park). Popular day trips within 30 minutes to an hour include attractions such as the Appomattox Court House, Holliday Lake State Park, South Pedlar ATV trails for ATV enthusiasts, several Golf Courses, Wineries and Breweries (check out Amherst!). In addition we are an hour or less from some of the most prestigious schools on the east coast including University of Virginia, Lynchburg University, Liberty University, Hampden-Sydney College, Randolph, Sweet Briar College and Longwood University. We are just slightly over an hour the Blue Ridge Parkway, Natural Bridge, Virginia Safari Park, Patrick Henry's Red Hill Estate, Liberty Mountain Snowflex (year-round skiing, snowboarding and tubing regardless of temperature or weather) and Wintergreen Ski Resort (a scenic drive of only 1 hour and 15 minutes). Other activities could include taking in a live performance at Wolfbane Productions in Appomattox, just 12 miles away or taking some adult beverage tasting at any of the dozens of wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Local farm markets are another past time with many options on the weekends. Saunders Brothers is a local favorite open weekdays featuring house made ice cream and local pasture raised meats.

It was lovely! The only complaint, and it was minor, was that there were many large hornets that kept finding their wary inside due to the older age of the house.

Beautiful, peaceful, property

The home and the property are beautiful. It was very peaceful. We saw a lot of wildlife. There's so much to do at the house and something for everyone of all ages from fishing, walking, playing pool, playing cards, playing board games, playing video games, relaxing in the hot tub, to sitting by the firepit and making smores or hotdogs over the fire or cooking out on the grill. We also went to Holliday state park where we went swimming, had a picnic lunch, went fishing, went out on kayaks, played at the playground, visited the gift shop and the snack shack and everyone had a blast. Our host for the home that we stayed at was very friendly and accommodating and responded quickly to any questions that we had. We are definitely planning on staying here again in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to stay in the country but you can still be at a store within a 15 to 20 minute drive. Thank you for letting our family stay in your beautiful home, we made memories that we will all cherish for a lifetime!!

It was so peaceful and the perfect space for two families who are friends that stayed together. We did take all country roads to get there as it was in Gladstone, but so peaceful in the country with open space and a hot tub!

I chose this property fir the game room. We spent time cooking (in well stocked kitchen), visiting wineries, and hot tubbing, we had no time or need for additional entertainment We loved doing the crosswords as a family. The home is well furnishrd to keep it non cluttered and very homey. Definitely gets recommendations from us

Lovely rustic getaway

We stayed here to be close to family in 2 neighboring towns. Cousins had so much fun exploring the property, playing tag at night with flashlights, enjoying s'mores at the fire pit outside and playing endless games of pool and cards in the basement while the grown ups enjoyed (relatively) uninterrupted conversation. Lovely rustic getaway.

Wonderful Property for Family

From Pre-Booking questions (with quick and kind responses) to our stay and check out, this was a wonderful experience. The property is just as the description says and then some, my teen and pre teen enjoyed the creek until dark most days and moved the fun into the game room basement for the evening. Plenty of room for everyone (7 of us stayed) along with some local family to come and visit. We can’t wait to come back in the fall/winter.

Perfect getaway!

This property was a wonderful place to visit. The house looks exactly like the pictures! It was so relaxing to get away and refresh ourselves from our daily busy lives. The boys enjoyed playing video games downstairs in the game room. My sister and I love the chance to just sit and relax and just cook and talk. Our host was wonderful, and always replied back with any response to our questions within just a few minutes. This beats a hotel any day! We will definitely consider coming back to this place another time. :-) :-) :-)
