It was a pleasure hosting your family. Nice pics of the family fishing from the bank and dock. There are a lot of old pine trees sunk in the cove right where they were fishing. Local tournament fishermen know there are a lot of fish in that location. You might have seen the massive striped bass my son caught when he was a teenager directly out from our dock where the channel gets deep.

This cabin was amazing, and my family and I had the most relaxing and enjoyable week staying there. The cabin was super clean, comfortable, and immaculate. There were 10 of us staying there, and we had everything we needed and no issues with anything. The host, Jason, also checked in with us and was great at accommodating anything we needed. This is a wonderful and beautiful place to stay, and we made so many wonderful memories during our week stay.

Family Getaway

Everything about this home was excellent -- the location, size and layout, amenities, dock, lake, and the owner. We had a large family gathering with a big age range, and there was something for everyone. I highly recommend this exceptional lake house!

We had a wonderful stay at the lake! This was a multigenerational family vacation with two sets of grandparents, and the home was perfect for everyone. There was plenty of space for every age and activity, whether you wanted to relax or stay entertained.The owner was incredibly responsive and answer all our questions. The dock was much larger than we expected, giving everyone plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the water. Having the boat slip and lift available for our boat was a game changer and incredibly generous. The kids especially loved the movie room and pool table, while the adults spent evenings watching the beautiful sunsets from either the dock or the wraparound porch.The house was absolutely immaculate. We’ve stayed in many vacation rentals over the years, and I honestly don't think we've ever stayed in one this clean. It was exceptionally well maintained and made us feel right at home.The walk down to the lake is a bit steep, but the path was manageable even for our parents, who are in their late 70s. The only suggestion we would make is adding a handrail, as it would make the trip up and down a little easier for older guests.Overall, we had an amazing time, made wonderful family memories, and would absolutely stay here again. We can't wait to come back!

Weekend getaway

We had 13 adults and really enjoyed our stay. The kitchen was well stocked. The beds were all comfortable and clean! We definitely will add this house to our rent again stay.

This was a great place to stay especially for our large group as this was our time to Lewis Smith Lake. We thoroughly enjoyed both the house and the lake. We brought our own boat and having access to the boat lift was an extremely nice bonus. Jason was quick to respond and answer any questions I had and was proactive in his communication.

This home was exquisite! It was perfect for our 6 adults and 6 children Thanksgiving holiday. The kitchen had everything we needed and the kids were never bored with things to do. They loved the movie room as well as the climbing rocks in the front of the property. The home was incredibly clean. The host was extremely responsive. It was clear that his desire that we had an excellent experience was consistent with the love and care that he put into building that home.

Nice place overall. Beds were comfortable. Nice to be able to use the boat lift and park a boat under the covered dock. It was able to accommodate 3 boats. Kids loved the movie theater, pool table and bunk room in the basement. Kitchen was stocked with cooking utensils. Would stay here again.

Thanks so much for the review - we’re really glad you enjoyed your stay and especially appreciated the beds, kitchen setup, and fun spaces like the theater room and basement game area! We do want to mention something many guests don’t realize: we go out of our way to make the covered boat lifts and dock available at no extra charge, even though we don’t have to. We pull our own boat and jet skis off-site, which takes a good bit of time and effort - including disassembling the wakeboard tower - just so our guests can fully enjoy the lifts and the dock. We’ve stocked the home intentionally to make it truly turnkey and family-friendly - from a fully equipped kitchen for a chef, to dozens of board games, Xbox games, and nearly 100 DVDs. This is more than a rental - it’s a fully furnished home, and we want every guest to feel that. If there’s anything we could do to turn a great stay into a perfect 5-star one, we’d love to know. Thanks again for choosing our home, and we hope to host you again soon!

A great gathering place

We had a wonderful stay. The log home is well -maintained, and the location is beautiful! The view from the back deck can not be beat. Loved the quiet location and not much boat traffic. We enjoyed some great meals gathered around the large dining table. Five stars for this amazing home!

Amazing weekend!

The property was very clean and well maintained. Our grandkids and kids absolutely had a ball even though the weather didn’t cooperate with us. Big spacious rooms and a gorgeous view of the lake. We will definitely return to this house next year.

Our family has water-skied and barefooted across the Southeast for three generations. After years of searching for the perfect lake lot less than three hours from Memphis, we found this location at Smith Lake and purchased this lot in 2005 to build a gathering place for our extended family from Alabama and Tennessee.

My father had long dreamed of building and living in a log home. For most of his working life, he collected plans and ideas that helped shape this home. Other than hiring a company to erect the logs and get the structure in the dry, three generations of our family did the interior work ourselves. Each bedroom and bathroom is unique. Each guest bathroom has restored antique clawfoot tubs, antique wash tables with copper basins, and copper faucets. Each guest bedroom has hand-hewn log beds that my teenage son peeled the bark from. Two massive handcrafted antler chandeliers hang in the great room. All of these handmade features make the home extra special to us.

For more than 20 years, it has been a place for summer weekends, holidays, family meals, lake days, and memories with people we love. We are grateful to share it with other families looking for a beautiful place to gather, rest, and enjoy Smith Lake together.

First, we chose this location because it is almost halfway between two marinas, which means less boat traffic reaches this part of the lake. Second, we chose to be at the end of a peninsula to have even more privacy.

Finally, we chose this property because it allowed us to build the home close to the water and just a few feet above the flood line. When you exit on the lower level, there is only an elevation drop of about fifteen feet to the walkway to the dock.

Across from the home is the Bankhead National Forest, so there are no homes or docks on the other side of the lake for beautiful photographic sunsets.

Before our log home was ever a rental, it was a true family home for my parents for nearly 20 years. It was built to be lived in, gathered in, and enjoyed, not simply furnished as a vacation rental. No expense was spared because we were building it for our own family.

The kitchen is one of the things that makes the home especially unique. It was designed and equipped for my mother, who loved cooking large family meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is still equipped like a real home, with a large convection oven, large induction stove, plenty of cookware, serving pieces, and space to prepare meals for a full house.

The home also has a rare combination of features for Smith Lake: a private gated boat ramp nearby, a private dock, boat and jet ski lifts, beautiful lake views, and a setting across from the Bankhead National Forest with no homes or docks directly across the water.

Inside, the home was designed for families to spread out and enjoy time together rain or shine. The main level has a large vaulted log great room, fireplace, and gathering spaces, while the lower level includes a theater room, game room, pool table, separate bunk rooms for boys and girls, and plenty of space for kids, cousins, and adults to relax.

What makes this property unique is that it still feels like a family home. It has the warmth, equipment, and personal touches of a place built for our own family, combined with the lake access, privacy, and entertainment spaces that make it special for large family gatherings.
