The Daniel Boone cabin was a perfect place for family to gather. The space was ample both inside and outside. The cabin is a real tribute to craftsmanship! Luray is a quaint town with great options to eat. Highly recommend the Mexican Restaurant and Luray Caverns. The river is a great place to fish and enjoy other water sports. We would have appreciated the lawn being trimmed as walking from the cabin to the river left feet wet due to the long grasses. Overall, our stay was everything we were looking for!

We celebrated my son’s graduation with family at the Daniel Boone cabin and had a wonderful time. It was an easy place to use, the grounds were beautiful and proximity to the park was perfect. The cabin was as rustic and charming as described. Jennifer was a great host and a visiting orange kitty stole our hearts. Thank you.

Lifejackets were in the mud. Kayaks were mostly broken. The one I was using sank in the river.Very small kitchen. Beds were small with sagging mattresses.The cabin itself was interesting, very old

We are truly sorry to hear about the kayak rack. Unfortunately, the last group before you did not care for the kayak rack. They lost one of our kayaks and damaged another. Thankfully, another guest alerted us to the faulty kayak so we could immediately remove it. We have purchased three new kayaks.

Cute, quaint ,relaxing cabin, perfect for our Thanksgiving weekend. We hope to come back in warmer weather to make use of the fire pits and the kayaks.

Lovely retreat in the meander of Shenandoah river

It was pleasure to spend these 4 nights with our friends in the cozy Daniel Boone cabin. The area and host offers plenty of sports equipment and other opportunities to enjoy the place.

Beautiful and relaxing

A beautiful property, well-appointed, with close proximity to local attractions (we loved Luray Caverns). We had a wonderful weekend visit and wished our schedule allowed us to stay longer, as the property was exactly what we were looking for. The porch overlooking the river was our favorite spot to relax! The farm fresh eggs were delicious, too!

Friends Trip

Property was awesome right on the river. The owners were great very responsive and had no issues. Rainy weekend but we still had a great time.

Perfection on the River

Our group of 12 rented the cabin to celebrate a birthday. The kids had a great time using the provided tubes, canoes and kayaks. The loved how accessible the river is from the property. The fire pit was perfect for nightly fires. The kitchen is small but is has everything you could need to cook for a group. We made three large meals with no issue. The Walmart is only 3 miles away so if you need something it's right there. The hosts were very responsive and easy to work with. We hope to come back again! Thanks

Five Star Privacy!!!

Rustic cabin with total privacy! Sleeps 11, but functionally it was difficult with only one shower/tub and dining area that seats only six. Glad to have picnic table on screened porch as that’s where every meal was had. Kitchen has everything but SO SMALL it’s really hard to prepare a large meal. Wish cabin wasn’t so dark inside and that the internet had worked ... even if only half the time. This property is most definitely ‘off the grid’. Although cabin is waterfront, you cannot see the beautiful Shenandoah from it; very sad for us. The men and boys loved the kayaks and canoes —- appreciated life jackets of every size being available. Firepit and Adirondack chairs were used a lot and we had tons of laughs in the yard. If you’re allergic to cats this isn’t the property for you - they’re everywhere!!! Friendly, but can tell they run the show and are very at home outside AND inside. We had fun!

So glad you had fun! Thanks for your feedback...we have added two additional chairs to the dining area. We advertise the small kitchen,1.5 baths, and spotty internet both in the listing and house manual so there are no surprises. The cabin is waterfront with water views, especially in the fall and winter. We've had an extreme amount of rainfall this year, so only a small portion of the river is seen from the cabin this summer, unfortunately. We are a hobby farm with lots of animals and they are definitely not allowed in the cabins. We have three cats on the property and there is a new small stray that has wandered here. We definitely do not allow any animals in the cabins (we have a firm no pets policy with guests) and ask that guests do not allow any animals to enter.

Wonderful old historic log cabin, room for the whole family.

Our family had a wonderful stay at the Daniel Boone cabin. It was clean on arrival and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. The location is close to Luray Caverns and a number of hiking trails. The grounds are peaceful and there were a lot of wildflowers by the river. Annie Oakley trail which was nice. What I loved most was the history of the cabin with 19th century hand hewed logs, real wood floors, and a lot of old country charm. Staying there brought you back to a more simple time. The Kitchen was small but well supplied with everything we needed. There are two grills out back available for guests to use. Our family really enjoyed being right on the river and having the kayaks and canoes available to use. The hosts provided a croquet set which my kids really enjoyed playing. If you enjoy playing games, the hosts have supplied plenty to choose from. We brought our own boggle game and enjoyed looking up challenge words in the biggest dictionary I've seen. There are no TVs in the bedrooms which is fine by me. We also did not have good cell reception, but there is Wifi which worked OK most of the time. Some cons were the squeaky floors which made every movement heard by the whole house. There is only one bathroom with a shower on the first floor, which did not seem to be a problem for us as we were all on vacation time and in no hurry to get anywhere, but the house could potentially sleep 13 so it might be an issue with a full house. There is a powder room with toilet and sink on the second floor where most of the bedrooms are. Bathrooms seemed up to date and clean. Plenty of hot water. The attic area where our boys slept was warm when we arrived but there is a window a/c up there and after a couple hours the boys said it was comfortable. The lighting in the living and dining area could be improved. You need to open a window to vent the kitchen and bathrooms. Smoke alarm is a bit sensitive. Overall, it is a wonderful location and a wonderful house. I would love to go back

Exeeded expectations. My daughter texted me saying " Dad, it's legit." Lol - I didn't understand what that meant but my son said they really like it. It's a real hand hewn log cabin. Has a great "vibe" - per my sons and daughter. The kayaks, life jackets, paddles and other equipment were well cared for, clean and ready to use. Great view from the screened in porch. We would recommend it and stay there again.

Charming cabin for our 3 family units, 6 adults & 4 kids. Driving directions made it hard to find the property, can you include a street address? More accurate to say "1.5 baths" since one shower was all for the 10 of us. Light was barely adequate, with many bulbs missing, like over kitchen sink. Needed more dish cloths to adhere to clean, dry dishes rule. Ditto a better grill brush for cleaning. Advertised swim dock for river access is not there. Red ride-in kayak had big crack toward back fin, and it plus yellow tandem kayak were missing plugs. Mouse droppings in some kitchen drawers. Despite all this, it was a good time.

Ideal river spot for R&R

So peaceful. So fun. Tons of water toys - we tubed, kayaked, canoed, snorkeled (brought our own masks/goggles), fished, drove up to Skyline Drive (so close) for incredible vistas. Daniel Boone cabin was perfect for our family of five. Host Jennifer responded very quickly when we had questions. We’ll be back for sure!!

Great location..Great mgmt!

The Daniel Boone house was perfect for my family's needs. The property was perfect and beautiful. Check in process and mgmt were there to help with anything. We enjoyed the kayaks, river and fire pit most. And we caught about 150 Bass in 4 days between 6 of us. We will be back!!

Wonderful House

The house was great for out Teen Retreat. We had a few glitches, but they were handled without any problems. The teens loved the river and the house.

Perfect Riverside Getaway

Rustic riverfront cabins in the Shenandoah Valley. Kayaks and canoes provide for hours of fun on the water. Nearby mountain trails perfect for hiking. Highly recommended.

The Perfect Family Getaway

What a gem! My California family didn’t want to leave this quaint, peaceful, comfortable home away from home. Everything anyone would need in order to get away from the busyness of life is right here - scenic river, trail, and views. Can’t wait to come back for another visit!

We loved it!

We had a delightful 3 night stay at the Daniel Boone cottage. Its historical charm swept us away from our city energy, and we enjoyed catching up with family by fireplace, on the small trail, by the water, in the nearby caverns, and over a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner. (My mom brought a roaster cooker for the turkey to keep the small kitchen freed up for other dishes.) Very clean cabin with the basic common amenities. Highly recommended for a nature getaway, especially during peak foliage or warm weather to use the river more. Thank you!!

What can I say? Jennifer is the absolute best home. The space is affordable and impeccably maintained. The cabins are walking distance from the river, include kayaks and are comfortable and beautiful!

We had a reunion of 8 college friends from 50 years ago and everything went great.

House was very satisfactory for a large group - just hanging out on living room or on porch. Plus, we had a big BBQ on last night which was fun.We all took advantage of kayaks and canoe and even caught some fish. Local restaurants were very good also.
