Spacious Mountain Cabin for 8

This newly renovated cabin is 10 miles (25 minutes) from downtown Boone and 8 miles (20 minutes) from the Blue Ridge Parkway! Come relax at this peaceful mountain cabin in the gated Powder Horn Mountain community. Cozy up by the fire listening to classic vinyls, and kick your feet up and enjoy the lush mountainous view with your favorite drink on the wrap around porch. Powder Horn has hiking trails, paddle boats, kayaks, and pool for our guests to enjoy!

The space
This 2,300 sqft A-frame cabin sits on the tip of Trout Lake atop Powder Horn Mountain. Guests can enjoy this 4 bedroom 3 bath cabin which includes two king and two queen beds. Upstairs features a loft with an en-suite bathroom, a king bed and a reading nook. The main floor includes two queen bedrooms with a shared full bath. The basement includes an additional living space with a fold out futon for a ninth guest if need be, a king bed, a full bath, washer and dryer.

The cabin includes a fully equipped kitchen with a double oven range, microwave, a combination toaster oven and air fryer, kurig K-cup machine, dishwasher and basic cooking essentials such as EVOO, salt and pepper.

Guest access
Guests have access to the entire cabin and pool in the summer time.

The house has keyless Wi-Fi locks that will be programmed specifically for you. In the event Wi-Fi is out, we have a fail safe option for entry.

Other things to note
In the winter months December thru March we recommend 4 wheel drive or snow tires. We are located on a mountain and the roads are winding and at some locations steep. Once inside Powder Horn, all roads are scraped and maintained, but outside of the gates, roads are exposed to the elements. Our driveway can accommodate 3 vehicles. We are on a cul-de-sac for easy turn around.

Please note cell phone service is limited to one bar at best. However, we have high speed internet and Wi-Fi calling is an option. Or, turn your phones off and enjoy the seclusion and bask in the beauty of mountain life.

We had a great stay. The house was clean and cozy, and everything worked perfectly. There was plenty of seating for everyone to relax and watch TV, including a second living room area downstairs, which was a great bonus. We would definitely stay here again.

Property has not been maintained. outside deck and screened in porch was dirty and unusable. Screen on bottom deck was torn and spiderwebs throughout the property, furniture on deck and screen porch was dirty and unusable, numerous spiderwebs noticeable inside the house and on outside deck, water in downstairs bathroom shower backed up inside the shower and became unusable. TV downstairs had no remote so TV was unusable. No TVs within the other three bedrooms. Pictures listed on website are misleading. Would not recommend anyone staying here with the current conditions.

This was a beautifully maintained, beautifully furnished property in the Powder Horn Mountain area near Deep Gap/Boone. The cabin easily slept 8, accommodating my entire family, visiting my daughter in college at App State for a long birthday weekend. Several outdoor spaces, split level bedrooms, and all made it a great place for a big group who occassionally did different things. We used the pool, the tennis/pickleball courts, the game room in the club house, and hiked some of the local trails. There is a very close trail to this cabin right at the end of the road that leads to Laurel Creek Falls and we spent part of my daughter's birthday in the falls which was fun and memorable. Just to mention to help others, the cell phone service is terrible. We all had verizon. This has NOTHING to do with the cabin or the owners, just the area in general and is mentioned in all reviews and descriptions. The wifi is only ok, again NOTHING to do with the cabin or rental, just to be aware of. The furnishing are beautiful, the beds were very comfortable, everything was very new. Highly recommend this rental for anyone wanting to step away, relax, hike, swim, etc... Also, extremely responsive, very fast to help owners. Thanks for a great stay!!

The house was perfect for our two families - space to be together and space to be solo. Beds were comfy. Kitchen was well stocked to prepare meals. The fireplace was nice for the cold mountain nights and mornings. We enjoyed walking on the roads. The trails are very steep. Owner is easy to communicate with and we did not have any issues during our stay. The house is remote and the roads are steep. If you're looking to disconnect, this house would be great.

Clean and cozy cabin, pictures were accurate. Feedback would be to include some instructions in how to operate heating/cooling to desired temperatures. There were instructions on how to use the gas fireplace.

Thank you for your review. The HVAC control unit is in the main floor hallway and is completely accessible to our guests to adjust to their desired comfort. We do have labels on all of the outdated baseboard heaters asking our guests NOT to touch the temperature controls as we have moved away from this source of heat and installed central heating and air in the cabin. We encourage our guests to reach out to use during their stay to help answer any questions they have.

Marvelous Mid century modern Mountain Home

What a marvelous mid century modern mountain home! We traveled up here to visit our daughter at ASU. It’s a beautiful drive through the mountains and into a private gated community with amenities. The 70s A frame was meticulously decorated to transform the space into an updated vibe fit for a magazine cover. With ample living spaces upstairs and down, there was plenty of room to rest or play. This cozy cabin was curated with all you hope for in a vacation rental- plush comfy beds and plenty of kitchen gadgets. Thank you so much for the wonderful communicator and accommodations!! Highly recommend!

Cozy Cabin Mountain Retreat

The hosts were excellent leading up to and during our stay, making sure we had what we needed to gain access without issue to the cabin, which is located in a gated-community. They were very communicative, friendly, and helpful and seemed to care genuinely that we have a positive experience throughout our stay. The cabin was well-maintained and as described. It is clear from the property's kempt condition and the attention to detail in coordinating the decor throughout the cabin that the hosts have put a great deal of time and effort into creating a cozy retreat for their guests. Would definitely recommend this cabin if you're looking for a quiet, serene, or remote setting to get away from it all.

Quiet, Beautiful Location

The house was very clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed the provided facilities of the Powder Horn Mountain community (pool, paddle boats, trails, etc.) We all enjoyed the Harry Potter books provided and the blast-from-the-past record player. We were a bit disappointed with the Internet speed and reliability though. We were not there to be on the Internet, but if I had needed to do some work for my job, it would not have gone well. I was not there to work, however! I very loved the peace and quiet, but there was construction going on next at times. Thanks, and maybe we will return one day.

Great Location to get away

Great location to get away and a very comfortable home. Some things that weren’t clear on the listing. One of the king beds is in the basement, this wasn’t a problem just wasn’t evident in the listing. The other that wasn’t clear, the second king bed in the loft is open to the living room and kitchen area. If you are traveling with early risers or want privacy in the bedroom this may be incentive to take the King bed in the basement. This area is about 30 ish minutes from Boone and isn’t convenient to just pop out for something you forgot. So keep that in mind. Overall we love the seclusion and if you want to commune with nature this is the place. We even saw a family of deer grazing just below the deck. The owners answered all my questions and very helpful at every turn. Can’t recommend this listing enough..

The location is very remote and your only view is trees very close to the deck. It takes you a good 30-40 minutes to get to anywhere. Upon arrival, the cabin is not as bright and airy as the online photos show. It’s dated and older in appearance. Bedsheets were thrown into a chair and a couch in the living area. Dust very visible on furniture. No internet on the bottom floor. Serious humidity issues on the bottom floor. A dehumidifier needs to be running constantly. The photos online showed a poker table and foosball table, which was one of the reasons we were looking at this home for family fun . Neither were at the property at all. The deck furniture was rotten and when we tried to sit on it, it was clearly broken. We know leaves are going to be everywhere as it is fall; however, the porches were very dirty. Not from the leaves, but dirt and animal poop. There are no televisions in any bedrooms. The TV on the lower level did not even work as there was not a Roku remote. There were very visible stains in the chair that our sheets were thrown on. The gas fireplace kept turning on and off by itself randomly. The outside photos were not as charming as they appeared online. Everything was a bit worn and run down. I would not stay here again. I did send the owner a couple of messages while there.

We don’t own your typical rustic mountain cabin. Our modern mountain cabin blends rustic charm with sleek contemporary design, creating a retreat that feels both cozy and sophisticated. Our large floor-to-ceiling windows allow views of the natural foliage, bringing the outdoors inside and flooding the space with natural light. Wood beams and stone accents, balance the dark contrasting walls. Our open-concept layout connects the living, dining, and kitchen areas, with a stone fireplace as a focal point which anchors the space as a gathering point. Outside, our expansive deck and sub level patio invite relaxation under the stars.
