Lake Front Rustic Suite Rental

Enjoy a one-of-a-kind stay in the historic Blue Heron Suite. Immerse yourself in the experience by learning the history of Diamond Lake, documented artistically throughout the unit. Features a private deck for capturing the sunrise or watching the action out on the lake. Large suite includes beautiful Amish-made cedar and pine furniture, including a double bed and pull-out sofa. Kitchenette and dining table included in room. Large private bathroom with walk-in shower. With over 200 footage of sandy beach The Blue Heron Retreat allows you and your guests to splash, play and relax. Venture out further into the lake for fishing, kayaking, boating or catching the sunset.

October through April our minimum stay is 2 nights with a maximum of 14. During our peak season, May through September, rentals are Friday to Friday. This allows the perfect amount of time for you to experience all that Blue Heron Retreat has to offer and for our cleaning services to be scheduled every Friday from 11am to 4pm.

It was very beautiful on the lake with the leaves changing. We really enjoyed the quiet and peaceful area! Everything was very clean and well maintained.

Exactly as expected

We had a great stay and Christine was a wonderful host. The space had everything we needed and was cozy, comfortable and had amazing views. We especially loved swimming out to the floating dock.

Great place on Diamond Lake 5 stars!

Beautiful view of the lake from our suite and it had everything we needed the weekend including microwave oven refrigerator coffee station cups and plates and silverware We truly enjoyed it and plan on coming back again!!!

Excellent Location

This is a wonderful location! The room was clean and very comfortable. Christine is super nice as well.Had a great time and will definately stay there again.

Absolutely loved the Blue Heron for my husband and I's stay! It was such a peaceful property with so much to do to relax and reset all within the same property! We loved the area, Schindy's has the best pizza, atmosphere, and people working! We were able to go kayaking one day down the Muskegon, and take in the beauty from local parks! We can't wait to bring our kids up to stay to enjoy the area!

Water Overlook

Our visit to MI was pleasant, with gorgeous views. The host was very helpful and responsive. We were missing a TV remote and, within 10 minutes, had a new one. The bed view overlooked the lake. I can't wait to go back.

Even better than the pictures

We have a lovely little Thanksgiving getaway (we brought food with as the kitchenette, while very well stocked for such a small space wasn’t up to cooking a feast). The room was actually a fair amount larger than I was expecting based on the photos and there were screens available so we could make our 14 his own “room” with the sofa bed in it. Christine was great and super responsive even on a holiday. Highly recommended.

A secret oasis! Exceptional experience.

So closet to the NCT trail! Really comfortable sleep - and accessible room! - Former event space turned into a really cool space! Each room is so different - it was refreshing. We got in really late - so first impressions of the property during sunrise was incredible. The deck/lake view is amazing. Christine went above and beyond our expectations as a host showing great grace and care when we expereinced a hiking emergency. There are so many hidden 'secret' areas tucked away on the property - we wish we had longer to enjoy every space! The firepit - the beach - the grotto - the hot tub(s!)! The hot tubs and shower were incredible after a long day on the trail. I look forward to bringing my family back! (checking out Schindys general store and shopping in Newago was a fun thing to do too)

Welcome to Diamond Lake, an all sports lake where the water is spring-fed and crystal clear. It is the perfect location to get away. Immerse yourself in the history and tranquility of simpler times while still having access to modern amenities. If you are looking for a place to connect with nature and with those you love, come on over. The swimming, fishing, and water sports are exceptional and the hot tub is ready for relaxing.

The Blue Heron Retreat has four rental units that all boast of their lake views, The Blue Heron Suite, Fisherman’s Cove, and Sunrise Suite are all attached to the main lodging. The Eagles Nest is a separate cabin overlooking the water. We have a number of amenities and common spaces on our property that are available for all guests, including kayaks, hot tubs, fire pit, multiple deck spaces (including our new Grotto), and more. We also have packages that can be purchased separately on our site for pontoon rentals, massage, and picnic kayak outings. Our retreat is located 6 miles north of the quaint town of White Cloud, Michigan. This small town is an outdoors enthusiast's dream. White Cloud boasts of its many nature trails (North Country Trail, ORV trails, Dragon Trail) with opportunities for hiking, biking, snowmobiling and getting a little mud on your tires.

Further you’ll find the Loda Lake Wildflower Sanctuary, Lake Michigan (only a 35-minute drive), and the Muskegon River for swimming, kayaking, tubing, fishing and so much more!
