We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Wine Down! The house was delightful and our hosts, Tamryn and Austin thought of every little detail that one could want on vacation. They were always immediately responsive to any questions or concerns as well. We would not hesitate to stay in Wine Down again and hope to return for another stay in the future!

Good for a family!

The owners were very welcoming and communicated wonderfully! The house was beautifully decorated and well stocked. Our entire family of all ages had a ton of fun - whether relaxing, cooking, playing pool, or drinking wine - perfect place to “wine down!”

Great place to stay for a large group! The open kitchen was nice and roomy, we had everything we needed. Our group included six adults, four children, and an infant and we had plenty of room. The kids were never bored. The dining table fit our entire group with no problem. Nice peaceful area with plenty of wildlife to see. Thanks for hosting us!

Great mountain getaway for our family!

Wine Down was a great place to recharge. The location was great, the hosts were very helpful and the house was well-equipped. My husband and 3yo even had fun watching a movie in the basement during a rainstorm. We will be back!

Beautiful mountain chalet

This chalet is beautiful, comfortable, spacious, and had so many fun activities for the children to do.The downstairs game room with the pool table and tv was the family favorite! We also loved the fire pit on the outdoor deck on the cool nights and the indoor fireplace was so cozy while we watched the Wizard of Oz movie each night. We had an awesome time at this beautiful chalet!

The property was nice. The owner was great about responding. Loved the information book about the area. Enjoyed the deck.Lots of beds and quality bedding, and towels. The only complaint, the AC in the loft did not cool the space down. Glad that they had ceiling fans.

Family summer vacation

Our group had 4 adults and 4 teenagers. The upstairs loft was perfect for the kids to sleep and the downstairs pool table and gaming options were great for their night time entertainment. The location is nice and quiet, but close to beech mountain and Banner Elk restaurants. Also, there are plenty of fantastic hiking trails within an hour drive. We spent most of our time outside venturing around the area, but the house was a great home base for eating and relaxing. We would stay here again if ever back in the area. Thank you for your hospitality.

Everything was great. The beds and pillows were comfy, would have liked some additional wine glasses for red wine. The heat was off the last night I think because the power in the neighborhood went out on Saturday morning but it eventually cam back on the next day. Cushions for the outdoor seating would have been nice but did not want to put out the uncovered cushions that were there. Also could have used more utensils we had 10 people. FYI-we used the last of the sugar may want to replenish or tell guest to bring their own.

Fun in the woods…

Family reunion over Thanksgiving… Couldn’t have been a better place to come back to after being out and about all day or even staying in on a very rainy day! The three floors were perfect for 12 to 18-year-olds; lots for them to do. A great place for families to gather and for adults to have time to catch up! We saw some bears, lots of deer, Great hiking and scenery. Our first time in Beech Mountain and at Wine Down. The area and the home we’re both terrific and fit our needs perfectly… 🍂👍🍁

Amazing location and great communication

Had a wonderful time skiing at Beech Mountain. Roads getting here are a little windy but in good conditions it’s no problem. There were a couple hiccups with amenities when we checked in but Tamsyn was amazing to communicate with and very responsive. Overall the property was more run down than I’d hoped especially considering the cost of the stay. The bathrooms, sheets, and main areas were all very clean. There was one dirty comforter on the master bed. All in all a nice stay!

Thank you for staying with us and for sharing your feedback. We’ve provided the notes to our cleaning and maintenance staff. We can assure you all items have been addressed and won’t be an issue going forward. This home was built in the 1970’s and has been renovated, but as an older home, there are certain features that require some additional TLC, which our maintenance staff address as soon as we’re made aware. We hate that this caused you to have a 3 star experience and tried to address each item immediately, even offering to have each item fixed as soon as you made us aware. Please know we strive for and expect to provide a 5 star experience and will always do everything in our power to meet those expectations.

Fun in the Mountains

We absolutely loved this home! It has everything needed to keep 7 teenagers super happy, as well as my husband and I! No time for boredom with the pool table, fooseball table, dart board, video games and TV. We also so enjoyed the huge Sonos sound bar, the outdoor fire table and the indoor fireplace on our last cold and rainy day. We saw so much wildlife in this area! We saw a skunk, chipmunk, lots of deer and even friendly bears! This home is about 6 minutes from the beautiful Buckeye recreation center where you can canoe and kayak for free!! (First come, first serve basis) The hosts were excellent and responded super fast any time we had a question! We would definitely give this place a 5 out of 5 rating! The kids said this was their favorite vacation ever! Such sweet family time!❤️

Wine Down

The property was clean and large enough for a big group however, it really needed some updating, especially on the deck. We had looked forward to spending time outside, but never Used the deck because the furniture was not inviting, and the deck really needed to be refinished. We had a 16 month old with us and I would not recommend bringing young children because the slats were wide enough for them to fall through not only on the deck, but also in the house from the main floor to the bottom floor. The spiral staircase seemed dangerous because it was so small and the steps were so narrow that we never went down there. This would be a great property for someone with older children or a large family gathering.

Hi Patricia, we have two young children ourselves and totally understand the caution! We have multiple baby gates at the house that we would have loved to point you towards for the interior of the home that work well for our kiddos. The spiral staircase may seem daunting at first, but when you use it, you see it’s really not unsafe. For the deck, the slats haven’t been a hazard for our kids or other guests’ kids to this point, but again, understand the caution when being that high up. We’re sorry the property didn’t end up being what you hoped it would be, but it’s been a great home for not only our family, but many other families with small children. Best regards, Tamsyn

Friendsgiving ‘Wine Down’

Wine Down is a very quaint space. The home is designed to host! A large open-concept upon entering the door gives you a breathe of relaxation and room to move. The kitchen, dining and living space was enough for all seven of our party to relax, reminisce and unwind for the weekend. Three large bedrooms provided adequate sleeping arrangements and comfortable beds with crisp, clean linen. The loft hosted four twin beds that aloud for even more sleeping accommodations. The basement was a little bit of chore to get too. The maneuvering of the spiral stair case definitely leaves you wondering if I should really have that other glass of wine or cocktail lol. There was ample amounts of fire wood, but sadly he never seemed to get around to a fire. We loved meandering the mountain roads and exploring the shopping and what not only Banner Elk had to offer, but Blowing Rock as well. You must make the short drive to Blowing Rock and enjoy the shoppes if Main Street. Thank you again for a lovely gathering l!
