Sunset Shanty is the place to be-Relax at the Shanty! Say "Cheeseburger"

Kick back & relax in this fun, lively space. Escape the hustle & bustle in the allure of Sunset Shanty - a private rustic retreat. The Shanty is nestled in the woods, offering seclusion yet quick access to downtown Caseville. Enjoy the tranquility of the bay, a short walk to water access, or a short drive to the neighborhood beach, or five miles to the downtown beach. Swimming, sunbathing, boating, jet skiing, or kayaking- you name it. Maybe you're a hunter, hiker, or fisherman. Winter or summer, the Sunset Shanty is the perfect answer.
*Home is across from the lake but not on the beach- guests can walk to water access w/o a beach area within a block, also a nice sandy beach is a short 2-minute drive to the end of the road. Additionally, a very large public beach is downtown.
The space
This three-bedroom, two-bath cottage features comfortable sleeping arrangements for up to 8 guests. Inside the cottage, you will find a spacious living area with plenty of natural light and a fully equipped kitchen that allows you to cook and prepare meals with ease. The bedrooms are decorated in a fun and lively Margaritaville theme and provide a comfortable place to rest after a day of outdoor activities. The bathrooms are stocked with essential amenities. The patio has a firepit, bbq, and plenty of lounging and dining space. No close neighbors. A large serene wooded lot with a large bonfire ring surrounded by wooded lots on both sides and back. Please note-due to the woodsy and rustic area, we don't guarantee to maintain the grill or the outside furniture regularly.

It was cold and rainy during our stay. We found things to do in caseville and drove over to the retro place in bad axe and had alot of fun.saw alot of deer.

We had a very relaxing stay. Communication through out was very timely. The check-in was easy. Our only disappointment was that it advertised a dishwasher and a grill and neither one was useable. The dishwasher had a sign inside that said out of order and you could tell that it had not been used for a long time. (I am not a fan of hand washing dishes) It did say that the grill propane was not guaranteed, but the grill itself was dirty and rusted and we would not feel comfortable using it. The bed was very comfortable and the shower, towels and bedding was nice. The kitchen pots, pans, and dishes were stocked nicely. The outside fire pit and chairs (a couple were broken) were nice for us to enjoy the deer that visited each evening. I would stay here again if they fixed the dishwasher.

This is a lovely location. It’s quiet, across from Lake Huron, you can walk on the side of the road, however driving to the public lake access is not far. Tiffany is a very gracious and kind host. We will definitely stay there again when over that way.

Tiffany was a wonderful host. Her home was very comfortable, accommodating, and in a great location! Mornings were peaceful, watching the deer walk through, right from the window! Would definitely recommend.

Cute home with that beachy 5:00 somewhere kinda of vibe going on..clean..inviting..had just about everything we needed. Could have used a toaster for breakfast, but other than that we were well satisfied. Beds were comfortable and walk in shower was great. The hostess Tiffany was very helpful and always responded to all questions and inquiries. We loved the early morning and dusk time visits of the deer also. Would recommend this property and hostess anytime.

We were excited to stay at the Sunset Shanty. Located near the beaches in Caseville, it could be perfect for a quick getaway. Unfortunately, we found a very unkempt and gross experience outdoors. The home had bird splats on the outside walls in multiple places, the deck and walls were full of green mold, and the fire pit area furniture and lights were full of spider webs. It looked abandoned from a cleanliness perspective. We were nervous to actually go inside and see what we might find. We hoped to use the outdoor space after a day at the beach, but it was going to take too much work to clean up. A hose was not connected to the outdoor spigot to even attempt to clear off the area. It’s obvious the home is NEVER maintained outdoors. While the description mentions not always being maintained, the photos show a nice area for a fire and place to relax. Do not plan to use the outdoor fire pit area, and do not plan to grill. Also do not plan to have a working dishwasher.We contacted the host after we arrived. She responded several hours later, when we were returning from the beach. She offered to have someone come clean the inside. By that time, we were settled in with our kids and dogs and declined. We took the time to explain the outdoor situation. She said that it was impossible to maintain. “Impossible”. For the cost per night, we expect photos to match the property. Our feeling is that if you can’t maintain something, don’t invite people to stay there.

As stated, we can’t maintain the outside at fully particularly when there are high winds and tornados which is what occurred that week and it is a wooded lot. I have someone who takes care of the outside, however I think your real concern was that I would not refund the first day that you didn’t come. You offered me a good review in exchange for a refund on a non- refundable stay which is a violation of VRBO policies.

Great location

We had a great time. Everything was clean and comfortable. The house was great and the yard was a wonderland for the kids. We were lucky to have a real nice spring day so we were outside all day. Will definitely stay here again.

Early spring trip

Dusty and lots of dog hair, strongly scented. Owner was communicative and check in process was easy. There wasn’t much of a lake view but plenty of wild life.
