We had a great stay in this wonderful home! There were ample beds for my family and plenty of linens and towels. We appreciated the washer and dryer to get ready for the rest of our stay on the Big Island! Thank you so much for going above and beyond to make my family have a wonderful stay. The house and the extras helped us be ready for our day exploring Volcanoes! I would definitely recommend this house for anyone visiting the area! You were a very gracious host. Thanks for sharing with us.

Great for families with small children. The owners are very responsive, everything was clean and beautiful property. Located close to Volcano National Park. Mahalo for a wonderful stay.

The property was well prepared for our stay for a party of 20 with a few being only day guests. It lived up to the description and pictures online. Our family had the best time.The game room and little kids room provided extra things to do while in the house. Kids also really enjoyed the electric fireplace. There are a bit of stairs required to access different levels of the house but shouldn't be a problem for most people.

Close to Volcano National Park

Wonderful Space!!

This house was such a cute space to stay in! We were here for my sisters wedding and we had 15 people in the house with plenty of space!! The owners are amazing!! Communication was amazing! I wish we could have stayed longer!

Family Vacation

Was very clean and feels secluded from any nearby houses which is great. Owner was very accommodating since we had some last second changes. Had a little trouble with the power going out upstairs when running multiple heaters, the pump for the air mattresses only had an a car power adapter and we had a lot of guests so the hot water ran out on some of us but overall great experience, would recommend for larger groups.

Hosts are fast to respond and we were welcomed with fresh apples, breakfast supplies, yogurts in fridge, a welcome bag and a handwritten welcome in a new notebook! It was such a warm welcome after a long drive from Kona and the property is well maintained with beautiful flowers outside. Check-in and check-out was super easy and my family really enjoyed the games included in the home. There's connect 4 and tic tac toe on the walls and home has 3 floors so it allows some separation for a large group if some want to rest while others eat or do social activities. It gets a bit chilly at night and heated blankets were also provided in the closet. We did see a few bugs in the home but that's hard to avoid in Hawaii. Recommend keeping food packed away to not attract bugs in the kitchen. Great stay, highly recommend. Loved that they had no shoes in the house sign, growing up in an Asian household that's a given and it's nice to stay in a vrbo where previous guests are encouraged not to wear outside shoes all over the house inside.

The pictures are touched up and the house is not as new as the pictures reflected. For example the bedspreads are white online but they are brightened so much you can’t tell they are actually dark grey. Carpet was gross. I’ll post pictures below. The bathrooms are old and dated but those pictures aren’t part of the listing. Also it doesn’t have air conditioning and it had a musty smell when you walk in. I requested to stay one day less since our flight was early in the morning and it’s a 2 hr drive to get there. It was denied because I booked a nonrefundable room. It’s understandable but flexibility would’ve been so appreciated. It was close to the national park which was awesome especially since we desperately wanted to see the eruption in action! That was pretty cool.

As mentioned in our listing, our home was built in the late 1980s—we do not advertise it as new construction. The photos on our listing are professionally taken to accurately represent our property, and while linens may occasionally differ from the ones pictured (as stated in the description), no photos have been digitally altered. Cleanliness is one of our top priorities. Out of more than 500 stays across multiple platforms, this is the first time we’ve received a complaint of this nature. Our cleaning team is highly trained, follows a detailed checklist, and consistently receives praise for maintaining a spotless and comfortable space. Regarding air conditioning, as our listing notes, most homes in Volcano do not have A/C due to our cool elevation of over 3,500 feet, where average temperatures range between 52–77°F. We do provide fans and encourage guests to open windows to enjoy the fresh mountain air. We also remind all guests to review our listing details carefully, especially if flying into Kona Airport, to ensure travel plans align with expectations. We were happy to offer discounts and were transparent about our policies prior to booking. It’s unfortunate that our efforts to provide a clean, comfortable, and well-described home were not reflected in your review. For travelers seeking a peaceful stay just minutes from Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park—with plenty of space, a dedicated game room, and thoughtful amenities—Noho Maluhia continues to be a favorite for families and groups visiting the area.
