Welcome to your waterfront private retreat, where breathtaking views await. Nestled on scenic shores of Choctaw Beach, this tranquil haven offers an unparalleled escape. Step onto the deck & soak in the mesmerizing sights & sounds of the bay. Dolphins, ospreys & more await. Inside, you’ll find a newly renovated private space, providing comfort to relax. Whether you’re sipping coffee/wine on the deck or exploring the nearby white beaches and emerald green waters of Destin, this enchanting getaway promises an unforgettable experience. We call it, “Splash of Color”.

The decks -
As you walk through the 100 year old Florida style gate down your private walkway you’ll come upon your two wooden decks. You’ll have amazing unobstructed views of sparkling starry nights and the twinkling of city lights of Destin and Sandestin across the expansive bay. You might also catch the pod of dolphins that like to hang out by our place. Or the beaver. You’ll find some artsy sections of the deck to share on your socials too.
Your space Once inside you'll find a newly renovated bedroom, a queen bed with individual coil and memory mattress, luxurious bedding, hanging smart TV with Roku, table and 2 chairs, closet with hangers, and a full size bathroom with all your towels. A mini frig with waters, a microwave and a coffee bar are included. This space is ideal for a maximum of 2 people.

On the Go -
Available to you are two beach towels to take to the beach.

Guest access -
You will have full access to the newly renovated bedroom, bath and both decks. Gate access and room access codes will be sent to you the day of, prior to your arrival.

Other things to note -
There is no kitchen available, however there is a microwave, coffee pot and small refrigerator. The complete home itself is vacant as we are planning a complete remodel. I’m so excited to revamp the rest of the home so, in the meantime, I’ve updated this west side of the house for you to enjoy. We have another unit called the Vibe on the far 3rd floor on the east side. We do not take children. Adults only.

This was a great location very quiet, clean and private as well as peaceful but a distance away from the main attractions over the bridge to Destin, so make sure to have 4 dollars cash to go either direction over through the tolls. The host Ms Nancy was very accommodating and communicated very well through the app’s direct messaging

Nancy was absolutely amazing! She went above and beyond for us the entire weekend! The home was perfect, the view was beautiful, and she made us feel right at home! Our stay was for 2 nights. The host provided detailed info which made check in/out very easy. Our host was very helpful with providing places to eat and things to do in town during our stay. The room was clean and the views were beautiful. We were adamant with spotting the dolphins . As soon as we thought we had no luck, While loading up the car for check out, the dolphins appeared chirping and feasting. The host suggested we walk and fish at this little secluded beach about a mile down the road. While walking the beach, the dolphins came back and were about 50 yards from us, eating and splashing around. Amazing experience. Enjoyed our stay and highly recommended

Nancy was an amazing host, probably the best we’ve ever experienced in all our VRBO stays!Her communication was outstanding, and she accommodated everything we needed. She is a wealth of knowledge about the area, and her recommendations were excellent.When she found out that we like to be active, she recommended a hidden gem we never would have found on our own… Turkey Creek Trail, a 1-mile boardwalk trail through the woods along a spring-fed creek. Two of our mornings, we walked and ran along that path and went swimming in the creek afterwards…amazing experience.!She also had great recommendations for restaurants, sightseeing, 30-A, and other activities.When we mentioned that we would like to find a church to attend while we were there, she graciously invited us to their church (Oceans Church), which made us feel very much like home.We booked this unit (the smaller of her 2 units) because of the large deck overlooking the bay.She reached out and told us the larger unit (see my review there also) was available for the second half of our stay, and offered to switch/upgrade us at the same price, since we were planning to stay for a week total.Both units are exceptionally clean and have beautiful views of the water. The smaller one is cozy (fine for a couple), but has the much larger deck area.The larger unit has about triple the living/storage space, but a small balcony.Both units have mini fridge,microwave,& coffee maker.Either way, you can’t go wrong!

Great Private Getaway

The property has a beautiful view of the bay and is private and relaxing. Host was wonderful and was very easy to communicate with before, during and after stay. Will definitely be looking here again for a private night away.

Short visit to see family who were in Destin for vacation

Acute but very small room with private entrance. It overlooks the Choctawhatchee bay. I would have liked to stay longer and fish.

Nice Place

My wife and I stayed two nights at the Splash of Color. Nice comfortable one bedroom with bath. Excellent view. It was really well kept inside. Great for a romantic weekend. We will be back next year.

Quiet and private! Perfect couple's spot!!

Excellent communication from owner, clear directions, very quaint clean space perfect for two, very comfy bed !! Saw dolphins as we sipped our wine from the balcony overlooking the ocean. Quick 10 minute drive over the bridge to Destin. Absolutely loved and already looking forward to next time.

Communication was excellent! Nancy was very easy to work with and very quick to respond. The place on the inside was absolutely darling! Very neat and clean as well as updated. There were no issues with the room, but there were a few things I wish I would have understood better. For example, there is no thermostat that you can control for the room. Nancy was great to confirm the temp was good for us and there is a ceiling fan, just thought it was a little odd that we could not control temp ourselves. It does have a small fridge and microwave that are in the closet. The room is actually very small - smaller than a hotel room. Not a real issue for us - we just stayed one night, but I wish other reviewers would have mentioned that. The driveway was covered in leaves which made the home look a little unkept. The back deck was greatly weathered (understandable since it is directly on the water) but some of it seemed a bit of a hazard with nails sticking up and rough wood on the balcony. You enter the room through a side gate and up a small set of stairs then enter through a sliding glass door. The home itself sits directly on the road with a short driveway. I still give this a good overall rating, as I understand Nancy is working on remodeling the entire home. There is a separate room on the opposite side of the house with its own entrance. Parking on the driveway would be tight for 2 cars.

Thank you for your stay, and I’m so glad you found the room comfortable, clean, and enjoyable. The property sits beneath large oaks and magnolias, so leaves naturally fall throughout the day. The driveway is intentionally rustic rather than paved, which is part of the “Old Florida” charm many guests enjoy. In fact, having the leaves helps reduce the amount of natural dirt that would otherwise be tracked into Splash. The deck is also rustic in character due to the waterfront setting and natural weathering, which many guests feel adds to the eclectic, laid-back feel of the property. We are not a hotel experience, but rather a unique waterfront cottage style stay. Parking has accommodated multiple vehicles (4) including boats with trailers, without issue. I appreciate your feedback regarding the exterior areas as we are continually making improvements to the property during our ongoing remodeling process. Overall, I truly appreciate your feedback and am very happy you enjoyed your stay and felt it clean and comfortable during your visit.

Perfect Getaway

Nancy has crafted the idyllic getaway for anyone looking to slow down and take a breather from the craziness and chaos of life. Nancy made sure that we felt welcomed and were provided with all of the necessities to feel at home. She is an amazing host and this experience was one of the best that my wife and I have had in quite some time. We cannot wait to book our second visit here!! We are already telling our friends and family to look into this property if they need to relax for a few days. Thank you again, Nancy!! You were a blessing!

Josh and his wife were the perfect guests! I was thrilled they booked with me for their weekend getaway. We all need that right! They were excellent communicators and they really cared about my place! Very respectful and just an amazing experience for me as a host. I welcome them back anytime.

AC was out when we got there. Host didn’t tell us until we arrived. View off the patio was great.

I’m so glad you enjoyed your stay and enjoyed the view. It is special. I’m glad I was there personally upon your arrival as I had called and texted many times with no response. I wanted to let you know that although the main AC was out due to a storm, the temporary portable AC was working fine just not as pristine in its look as I would have liked it to be during your stay. Thank you for being a great guest and keeping things so tidy!

This area is so close to Destin and it’s waterfront. Most all waterfront in Destin are condos. I wanted to find something unique and more personal. More private. A place to get away from the crowds but could easily pop over to enjoy.

Everything! It’s a rare find in its location and structure. We are taking this old 1980’s home and bringing it back to life!

It sits right on the water and stands alone! Full views over the bay give amazing views and the opportunity to see all kinds of sealife! We normally have dolphins swimming by to eat which is so fascinating.

The privacy of the deck and space itself makes this very unique. It’s simple but exquisite in its rustic deck charm yet up to date interior.

Inside, I love uplifting, bright, unique decor and you’ll see this in all my places I have on Airbnb and VRBO.

In this home we have the Splash and The Vibe. Completely opposite sides and on different floors. The center of the home is vacant so both are completely private. The only time you might run into another guest is while parking.
