Flintlock is the height of luxury in a bucolic setting. Wake to the sounds of birds chirping, cattle lowing and a wonderful nights rest in a guesthouse designed by a world renowned interior designer. Flintlock is a destination for couples wanting to escape big city life and who love the great outdoors and ranch living. Sunset views from the guesthouse include a fire pit, and private seating area.
Flintlock is a working ranch and you will see goats and cattle wander the property and free range chickens and guinea fowl provide a view into country life. The former dairy barn for the guesthouse has been luxuriously renovated with custom linens, monogrammed towels and even heated marble floors. Belgian lime plaster walls provide texture and warmth and a full kitchen and separate bar create everything you need to create an intimate candelight dinner for two.
Want to escape with friends for a weekend enjoying the hiking in LBJ Grasslands, or the back property of Flintlock? There is a vintage Airstream trailer across from the guesthouse with luxurious bedding, down pillows and an ice-cold air conditioner. The trailer boasts a kitchen and undercabinet fridge. The Airstream is included in your stay whether you choose to use it or not, so privacy to guests is guaranteed.
Amenities in the guesthouse include an ice machine, vintage bar sink that was once part of the dairy barn and custom tile backsplash and Poseidon marble floors in the bath. Kilim rugs and seagrass keep the vibe casual but elevated and a custom iron chandelier warms the space. Artwork and accessories are one of a kind and this getaway will be on your list time and time again. Flintlock is private, luxurious and the perfect spot for those who need a little bit of peace and quiet while enjoying five star amenities.
Decatur is known for beautiful rolling hills and vistas, amazing Mexican food, BBQ and a vibrant downtown area. Each summer, the town comes alive for Wise County Old Settlers Reunion, hosted on the fairgrounds. Live music, food trucks and a carnival provide entertainment to all who attend this once a year family-friendly event.
Flintlock is nestled near a family owned Decatur Garden Center with an entire greenhouse of succulents and rare varieties of plants. The family also owns a large pecan orchard and fresh pecans are available for sale. Russell Feed boasts an impressive selection of items for those who raise chickens and the local Star C Dairy offers raw milk, eggs and cream available for purchase on the honor system. Numerous Farmers Markets offer fresh, in-season produce and canned goods.

Tucked away in the country

We had a wonderful stay at this Vrbo. Tucked away in the countryside, it was the perfect peaceful escape. The property was beautiful, spotless, and so serene- exactly what we needed to recharge. Waking up to the sweet goats in the morning was such a fun and unique touch. Even though we were close to home, it truly felt like we were a world away from the city. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Flintlock Ranch Guesthouse, and I must say it was an absolutely stellar experience. If you're looking for a luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, Flintlock is the perfect destination. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the serene and bucolic setting. Waking up to the melodious sounds of chirping birds, mooing cattle, and the tranquility of the countryside was a refreshing change of pace. The guesthouse itself, designed by a renowned interior designer, is a masterpiece of elegance and comfort. The sunset views from the guesthouse and Airstream are simply breathtaking, especially when enjoyed from the private seating area around the fire pit. Flintlock is the epitome of privacy and luxury, offering a peaceful retreat with five-star amenities. One of the unique aspects of Flintlock is that it's a working ranch. Throughout your stay, you'll have the opportunity to observe goats and cattle wandering the property. The surrounding area of Decatur is equally charming, with its rolling hills, delicious Mexican food, BBQ, and vibrant downtown. A stay at Flintlock is precisely what your soul needs to escape the stresses of city life. It's a place where luxury meets tranquility, and I can't recommend it enough. I know that I'll be returning time and time again, and I'm sure you'll feel the same way after experiencing the magic of Flintlock.

The best getaway for a holiday visit jaunt!

This year I found myself deciding to make a last minute trip to see family for the holiday. I quickly realized that there were no hotel rooms available on such short notice so I decided to peruse VRBO in the slight chance I might find something close that would give me a nice quiet place to lay my head since my family already had a full house. I came across Flintlock and was immediately drawn to the images of the gated and lit entrance into what appeared to just be a beautiful tree lined pasture area.After exploring the photos and amenities, I decided to give it a shot. Upon arrival entry and access was a breeze and I immediately loved the surrounding livestock and hilltop views that were surrounding the property as I drove in.Having grown up on a farm in the country, I was immediately taken back to my childhood with smells and sounds of a time long since behind me. The residence was out of a magazine almost with top notch amenities that I was not expecting, having stayed in some VRBO's and the like before through the years.I had a peaceful night's sleep and woke up to the lowing of cattle nearby and the occasional rooster crow. I made myself a coffee and sat outside in the fenced area enjoying the breeze and serenity of the scene.Following the Christmas festivities, I could not wait to get back to that setting for my second night before heading home. What a relief not to have to fight a crowded hotel lobby! I would definitely recommend and hope I can return!
