This home is charming and well-located, but our experience was overshadowed by serious health, safety, and cleanliness concerns. The dryer vent was filled with standing water that had turned black with mold and mildew, making it unusable. Two bedrooms had sheets that smelled like mildew. We later realized this was tied to the same mold issue. Two towel bars fell off during our stay. One fell near a child. A nail protruding from the kitchen floor cut a guest’s foot.Cleanliness fell far below expectations. We found hair on linens, towels, bathroom surfaces, and floors. A throw pillow in the living room smelled strongly of vomit. Bugs, some alive and some dead, were present throughout the home. Several of the dead bugs were dried and brittle, indicating they had been there long enough to have been cleaned by housekeeping. Behind a small dresser in the bunk room, we found a disturbing assortment of unsanitary items left behind from previous guests: a condom, makeup, a bottle of Dramamine, and hundreds of rubber hair ties. The kitchen was also severely understocked. Basic tools and supplies were missing or limited, making it difficult to prepare meals for a group. We reported these issues and received a one-night refund. While appreciated, it didn’t reflect the scale of the disruption. We tried to resolve things respectfully and privately, but this stay fell far short of expectations and put our group’s health at risk.
