Chesser Ranch's Casita Retreat

Har du brug for at komme ud af byen og komme væk fra det hele (job, telefoner, støj, trafik, mennesker), men camping er det bare ikke din ting?
Vores nyopførte 600 kvadratmeter store casita ligger kun en time sydvest for Roswell, New Mexico. Vi kan love dig lidt til ingen trafik (måske 4 eller 5 biler om dagen ... hvis du er heldig), ingen mobiltelefon service (medmindre du går op til toppen af bakken eller har wifi, der ringer på din telefon), wifi tilgængeligt i nærheden. Der er en overflod af vidt åbne rum at vandre eller cykle (ridning er tilgængelig til $ 40,00. 00 en time / per person med et minimum på 2 timer, kun efter aftale med Kim), masser af fred og ro, og lejlighedsvis besøg fra det lokale vilde liv. Hold øje med kvæg og får, der græsser på de fjerne bakker, og nyd de smukke New Mexico-himmel, der spreder sig som et baldakin over det hele. Nætterne er spektakulære, da et tæppe af stjerner udfolder sig, uhindret af indtrængende lys.
Den varme og indbydende casita har et fuldt udstyret køkken plus en grill (trækul eller gas). Føler du dig eventyrlysten? Der er et madlavningsområde til bål, hvor du kan grille en bøffestørrelse eller skåle en skumfidus! Glem bare ikke din mad ... det er en lang køretur til købmanden (bøffer eller andre tilgængelige udskæringer af 'Chesser natural' oksekød eller lam kan købes)!

Efter en lang dag vinker den behagelige queensize-seng og lover en afslappende nats søvn. Loftområdet har to enkeltsenge, og sofaen bliver til en queensize-seng til at rumme flere gæster. Casita har et komplet bad og en vaskemaskine og tørretumbler, der imødekommer dine behov. Slap af på den overdækkede veranda og nyd det udendørs picnicbord.

Absolutely beautiful!

This property is a dream! We had the best view of the stars, cooked over the fire. We wished we could stay longer and very highly recommend it!

Great house!

The casita is great and comfy! The road to get there is ROUGH! If you can figure out how to go the way by the airport it is a million times better!! But it was worth it for such a nice relaxing place to stay!

Perfect Destination

Super clean place and perfect for an outdoor vacation. We were able to hike miles over the landscape off trail. My favorite part had to be the private horseback ride. When we come again I’m probably going to budget to go ridding every day lol We look forward to coming again and maybe bring a group!

Amazing Way To Spend A Weekend!

We stayed at the Chesser Ranch Casita Retreat and LOVED every minute of it! The casita is beautifully decorated, yet still comfortable and homey. The bed was nice and firm - just the way we like it. Because the casita is located on the Chesser Ranch, it is the perfect place for a true weekend "retreat". No phones, nothing to break the peace and quiet of the ranch setting. I highly recommend the Chesser Ranch Casita Retreat for anyone looking to get away from it all...it would be perfect for a family too!

Casita with a view......

What a property, what a view, what great hosts!! From the drive (19 miles) into the property, we drove slow, looking at our surroundings, taking our time, wondering where this dirt road would lead......we might have had a mile left to get to our destination when along came a flat bed ranch truck down the road. He was looking for us.....said we were “overdue” on our time allowance getting to the Casita. He had driven out to check on us to make sure we were ok. I mean really.....who does this?? Kim and Patricia Chessar do..... that’s who!! We had THE best time, beautiful views, and could not have asked for better hospitality than what we received. Highly recommended.....if you are ever in their area....stay with them! We spent time in Roswell and also in Carlsbad.

If you want to experience the hinterlands of New Mexico, this is the place for you. Well-off the beaten path, it's in the middle of the Chesser Ranch, a beautiful, quiet place literally miles and miles away from civilization. Directions to the ranch included an 8-mile, 20mph stone-road in (from the Roswell direction) and a 19-mile 20mph stone road out (south to US70 toward Alamogordo) for us. The route out took us through a number of ranches and over cattle guards and the wildlife and views were incredible. The only word of caution: if you have a low-slung sports car this route may be difficult. Chesser Ranch is a working ranch with horses and goats and a some cattle, but don't let that dissuade you. If you want to get back to nature this is the place. The moonlight night gave way to more stars that we thought possible. A roaring campfire complimented the experience. Kim/Patricia provided precise directions (we advise you follow them as GPS is spotty). The Casita is off to the side of the compound and is absolutely perfect with a well-stocked (kitchen, bath, etc), and inviting. Spoke at length to Kim a couple of times and he's a true rancher, kind, informative and gave us a lot of local flavor/history. 10/10 would stay here again! Thanks Chesser's!

Great base camp

Secluded and unplugged. Prime location for Carlsbad Caverns, Roswell, Lincoln National Forest and White Sands if you don't mind the drive. Our hosts were excellent with communication and were very friendly and respectful of our want for seclusion. There is WiFi and a smart TV but if the power goes out you will not have cell phone service (exactly what we were looking for). The flies were a little intense but understandable given the cattle and livestock on the ranch. The Casita was well stocked with basic supplies and toiletries. We had a fabulous stay and highly recommend booking the Casita!

Country Living

Our stay at the Casita was an amazing experience! Beautiful, quiet place to stay, relax and get away from it all. A true ranch with beautiful sunsets, farm animals, coffee on the front porch and many places to hike and take in your beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed every aspect of this countryside. Our hosts were gracious and it was a pleasure to experience the nice accomodations that was offered. We hope to go back again in the near future. It's a must try for all!!

Great time in the ranch!

Our group of four had a very enjoyable time during our stay at the ranch. The drive in was a little tricky, and the roads a bit bumpy, but that was a small price to pay for an authentic ranch experience. We would definitely recommend this to future travelers. I would also recommend traveling via truck/small SUV for piece of mind!

This is a true get away from the world

With everything going on in the world it was nice to escape to this remote property for some much needed R and R. The ranch had the sweetest baby lambs and horses. The owners were very kind and nice people. We will go again for sure!

Wonderful Ranch!

The ranch is beautiful!! The casita is adorable, spacious and cozy! Kim and Patricia really made it feel like home. Kim was a wonderful tour guide for our horse ride. Will definitely consider coming back for a longer stay!

Beautiful Experience

We loved our time on this far away ranch. Not only was the property beautiful and clean, but the scenery was an added bonus. We also enjoyed visiting all of the animals nearby.

Didn't, stay, road was impassable.

This property is 2 hours outside of Roswell. The listing is misleading. We attempted two different routs to get to this property taking over 4 hours, the directions the property manager gave us lead us through flooded streets, we turned around and took the "long" way and drove down a gravel road for over an hour passing thru flooded creeks and finally got to one I was totally not confident we could pass through it. We turned around and drove another hour back out on the gravel road. The property manager is delusional about people being able to get to this property. You would have had to have had a lifted 4x4 to get there. The property manager was puzzled that I couldn't get there!! I will be seeking a refund from VROB. Would not recommend this property at all.

Great Getaway

We lived this out of the way escape. The kids loved the open spaces to run, the stars were incredible and Kim and Patricia are excellent hosts. Totally worth the drive!

Oh my stars! Beautiful

Our stay at the Casita was lovely. A beautiful property with everything we needed. The bed was comfortable. It was just the two of us but the Casita has plenty of space for four. We just loved seeing all the ranch animals and wild deer! No light pollution, so star gazing was great! A great place to unplug and get some quiet relaxation. Wonderful for families or a romantic getaway!

Casita at Chesser Ranch

The cabin was cute and clean and the environment was very relaxing. It was very peaceful and quiet at night. The owners were helpful and kind. We hope to visit again soon.

Kim, is a lifelong cowboy from a long, family ranching tradition. He was born and raised on this ranch and not only has a love of this way of life but a greater love of people. His wife, Patricia, is also a native of New Mexico and has used her decorating talents and gifts making the casita a true haven of retreat.

Kim has lived on this ranch his entire life and Patricia their entire marriage, since 1978. After diversifying the ranch in 2003 to a working guest ranch, there were many calls wanting to rent the guest house (people not wanting to stay in town or in a hotel). In 2010 they decided to build the 'casita' with a full kitchen for overnight, weeklong or monthly guests. Their first rental was a snowbird from Minnesota the entire month of January. She had beautiful 70 degree weather while she was here!

The simple, peaceful country life is what we live and enjoy and desire to share with others. Our beautiful New Mexico skies are the topic of conversations the world over. No intrusion of city lights, traffic, sirens, telephones, etc. just pure peacefulness. You will hear an occasional bawl of a cow and calf or ewe and lamb, birds singing and other nature sounds.
