Surfside sommerhus ligger kun 100 meter fra højvande mærket. Dette er sjældent langs kysten og giver dig mulighed for at opleve både den spektakulære udsigt over havet og lyden af kysten. Slap af til lyden af brændingen, lommer og havneklokke og se hummerbåde gå forbi. Masser at gøre lige ved hytten; tilbring dagen på stranden, tag dine kajakker og gå ud lige fra stranden, tilbring tid med dine børn i legeområdet eller sidde og læse en bog på gårdhaven eller i stuen. Det er også centralt placeret til dagsture; 1 time 15 minutter til Acadia National Park, 25 minutter til Camden, 40 minutter til Rockland og 5 minutter til Belfast centrum.

My aunt stayed at Fran's gorgeous cottage while we stayed nearby, and she absolutely loved her stay! The view of the bay from the front porch is phenomenal, and we all enjoyed relaxing on the bench in the mornings and watching the seals, loons, and other sea birds in the water. My aunt found the bed to be very comfortable, and she really appreciated the heat pump on a couple of chilly nights. The location is very convenient to Belfast, where we enjoyed visiting the shops and picking up takeout from some great restaurants. We're already looking forward to all returning next summer!

A great place to just exhale and relax. Served as a nice base for visiting Acadia NP, Rockland for a sailing adventure, Bucksport, Fort Knox, and other regional towns. Wonderful view of the bay. Very comfortable cottage. Had every need covered. A great place to stay if Belfast is your goal (and this is a must see town). Highly recommend this cottage.

Our stay exceeded expectations. We will definitely stay here again! With the beach and bay right here, and town and hiking all within a 5 minute drive, our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer!

We had a wonderful stay! The cottage was very well kept, and Fran and Ellen were fantastic hosts. They went out of their way to help with a minor issue that wasn't their fault, which we really appreciated.The daily views of the bay were beautiful, and we loved seeing bald eagles and seals sunning on the rocks. The location was perfect for hiking, fishing, exploring town, and taking a short drive to Fort Knox for the incredible views from the observatory.We definitely recommend staying here; Fran and Ellen truly make you feel at home.

Perfect paradise.

The owner was so gracious and helpful. The cabin was located in an incredible spot on the bay. We would have liked to have stayed there the entire summer.

Just as shown and perfect location by the ocean. Cottage was immaculately cared for and we had everything we needed. Owners were very helpful regarding local offerings. Will definitely return!!

Surfside @ Wonderview.

Very nice property. Clean and well maintained. Went to Moose Point State Park and found hidden gem at Swan Lake State Park. Great beach and fresh water rather than sea water. Beach at cottage very nice and not too rocky.

A little GEM!

Maybe the best place we have booked through VRBO! This cottage has all you need for a short get-a-way from it all. Belfast is a great little Maine town to stop & explore & the cottage is the icing on the cake. Comfortable digs with all you need & a comfortable bed to end the day. We loved it and easily could have stayed longer!

Great Cittage and Location

This was a great cottage It was clean and well maintained. Everything was labeled and there were written instructions. The owners, Fran and Ellen, provided great communication and information about the attractions and restaurants in the area. The location of the cottage was perfect. Right on the shores of Penobscot Bay.

Serenity

The cottage exceeded our expectations. It was perfectly set up for a family of 4 which include a 7 y/o and 11 y/o. The views were spectacular. The cottage is perfectly located for exploring Belfast, which has many restaurants, shops, and trails to explore. This was our 5th year in a row spending our family vacation in Belfast but our first year staying in this cottage, but we hope not our last. Our family cherishes the days spent at the beach and the evenings playing games or doing puzzles while listening to the waves crash outside the windows.

Wonderful

What a slice of heaven! The cottage itself was so clean and thoughtfully stocked, and the view is unbeatable! We spent hours on the beach at low tide, and saw only a small handful of other people! Plus Belfast is such a cool spot and a great home base to explore from. If you’re at all on the fence- book it. If I could move in I would!!

Absolutely Lovely

If you drive too fast, you may miss the turn onto Wonderview. But once you make that turn you will see the most charming site of little cottages hugging the coast. This cottage is in the very center, so it has the best full view of the water. This is a perfect place to enjoy Belfast. So cozy and charming, and the hosts were wonderful to communicate with. I want to come back to this place later this year, as Maine is quite beautiful!

Fantastic House Best View in Maine

I cannot say enough good about this house. The location is amazing, you are right on the water. You will for sure see herons and loons and probably seals, eagles, and ospreys. The water in August was actually not bad for Maine, you can swim right in front of the house. Belfast is maybe 10-15 minutes away and is a charming town, Camden and Rockland are maybe 25-30 minutes down the road.

Hello. I'm Fran Turner. My wife Ellen and I own this cottage. We named it Surfside cottage. The reasons are a. It sits within the 250 ft coastal zone and b. It reminded us of a place called "Surfside Cottages" where we stayed for years in Wellfleet Massachusetts that was our favorite place to vacation - until we discovered Belfast Maine.

Ellen and I had been renting this cottage at this location for 15 years and had fallen in love with Belfast and midcoast Maine by then. The cottage was built in the 50s. It was weathered and beaten. Floors were uneven. Decades of paint flaked. We noticed these things more each year. But it was RIGHT on the ocean and minutes from Belfast. This was a Special place. But the cottage had gotten pretty rough. In 2009 the cottage became available for sale. This was an opportunity we had always dreamed of but never thought would happen. On rare occasions in life, circumstances allow something amazing to happen. We decided this was that opportunity for us. We bought the cottage and had it 100% rebuilt in 2010. Our model was of a Nantucket cottage - combined with the cottage that we had always loved on that site. Have stayed in this exact spot for 15 years, we thought a lot about how we enjoyed the cottage, where the best view was, where the sun rose, where the moon rose, how best to put our feet up to read a book while being able to look out over the bay.... We had it built to take advantage of how we enjoy the cottage. All walls ocean facing have windows. We love to open them wide and listen to the sounds of the shore. These are sights and sounds that can only be experienced by being this close to the water. The sound of the surf, harbor bell, call of the loons - they get into your unconscious. We miss them when we leave. They are special.

Surfside Cottage is within the 250ft Maine coastal zone. The only reason this is possible is because the cottage was originally built in the 1950s and was re-built on site in 2010. This allows it to be close enough to really experience the sights and sound of the coast. Worried about being to close to the ocean? Don't be. The cottage sits at the top of a 30 ft bluff. It is safe from even the highest tides and most dramatic storms. Seagulls, Kingfishers, Osprey and Bald eagles cruise the coast at eye level (seriously). There is a seal colony in front of the cottage on a group of rocks called the "pumpkin seeds". You may see them at mid tide - curled like smiles to keep their noses and feet out of the water. Watch them from your chair in the front room overlooking the bay.

As the cottage was a vacation rental cottage for 60 years before we bought it, our intent from the start was to continue to share this special place with others and continue to rent it to vacationers. What we didn't expect was how much we would enjoy sharing the cottage with others. People leave stories in our guest book, or e-mail us to tell us how much they enjoyed their stay. People visit for 3rd anniversaries, or 50th. People bring their kids for vacation, or their mothers. Quite a few people visit relatives in the area. People visit from Maine, France, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts or many other places. Some people drive the the top of Cadillac mountain for the raising of the sun. Some bring their friends and knit furiously for a week. Some peoples kids draw pictures of title pool and sail boats in our guest book. Others ask us for a recommendation for a special dinner. We have not met them, but have communicated with everyone. If this sounds like your kind of vacation, it probably is. When you stay with us, you are not renters, you are guests in our house. We are accessible during your stay, but for the most part will leave you to your own adventure. - Fran and Ellen
