Welcome to The Barnhouse!

The Barnhouse is a century-old barn we've lovingly converted into a bright, cozy little home just 2 miles from Colgate University and the Village of Hamilton.

Perfect for 2 and comfortable for 4, it’s a peaceful place to settle in whether you're visiting Colgate, attending a nearby wedding, working remotely for a few days, or simply looking for a quiet country getaway.

The Barnhouse keeps the character of the original building while adding the comforts you want when you travel. Large windows, white walls, and white-painted concrete floors make the space feel light and open, while touches from the old barn remind you of its history.

INSIDE THE BARNHOUSE

The bedroom has a comfortable queen bed with a headboard made from one of the original barn doors.

The open living and kitchen area includes a queen sleeper sofa, Smart TV, desk, and high-speed Wi-Fi. It's cozy enough for a couple but gives a family or group of four enough space to relax comfortably.

The kitchen is small but truly stocked for cooking. You'll find a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, microwave, Keurig, French press, coffee maker, blender, cookware, dishes, utensils, oils, spices, condiments, regular and decaf coffee, tea, and other basics we like to have when we're away from home.

The bathroom has one of our favorite Barnhouse details, a rainfall shower surrounded by galvanized metal walls. We also provide shampoo, conditioner, facial soap, lotion, and a few of those things that are easy to forget when you travel.

STEP-FREE LIVING

The Barnhouse has a ramp to the entrance, no interior steps, and wide doorways, making it a convenient option for guests who prefer a step-free space.

OUTSIDE

Step onto your private deck with your morning coffee, a book, or a glass of wine and enjoy the quiet country setting.

Guests also have access to the shared outdoor areas on the property, including the large firepit with plenty of seating and firewood and the river area along the Chenango River.

In winter, snowmobile trails are located just across the road and through the neighboring field.

COMFORT IN EVERY SEASON

Window air conditioning keeps the Barnhouse comfortable during warmer weather, while separate thermostats allow you to adjust the heat in different areas during the colder months.

NEED MORE SPACE?

The Barnhouse is part of a larger property with several unique places to stay. The Farmhouse is right next door and sleeps up to 10. The River House and Movie House are next door to that in a renovated early-1900s general store.
